Great Location nice and quiet, 10 minute drive into Colchester city centre. We were greeted upon arrival and offered drinks. Modern looking, recently decorated inside. Tasty food at the restaurant and great little gym and swimming pool included. Breakfast included with out stay. Spacious bathroom in room and reception is oversized with a kids corner full of toys for them to play with. Value for money wise, you can't go wrong and given there's activities such as swimming and the little play corner, it really is inviting for families.

The restaurant wait times are long, sometimes feels like the servers forget you're there. They offer the V.I.K card (kids eat free and get 1 drink free per meal) but there's often confusion when presenting it. The hotel is not as clean as premier inn and the beds are too firm, verging on uncomfortable.

All the hotel staff were lovely, especially on reception they were all so welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed the breakfast very much, there was so much to choose from, once again all staff were polite and efficient. The housekeeping staff did an excellent job of looking after our room. In the reception area there was a dispenser with water containing sliced lemon for guests to drink. A refreshing gesture which more hotels should take on board. We would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel.

The drinks dispenser drinking glasses would be better replaced by disposable cups from a dispenser. (for hygiene reasons as provided in offices and hospitals) Large commercial vans parking anywhere in the hotel car parks. This made it difficult to gain access to our car at times. We feel there should be a separate van parking area.with larger bays for these vehicles.

I stayed at this Hotel with my son as a birthday treat for him. I messaged beforehand to let them know it was my son's birthday and all I can say is WOW! My son was treated like royalty, he was given gifts (of the snack variety), a card and complimentary drinks, all played out beautifully in our room. We then booked a table for dinner to be met with a beautifully dressed table, wonderful staff wishing him happy birthday, his kids buffet meal was free and he was sung to with cake and candles (all arranged by exceptional staff). My son was elated and could not believe how special he was made to feel!!! Our evening meal was lovely, nice portion size and not too pricey! Breakfast was also lovely, lovely selection of both continental and cooked breakfast options. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay and would recommend to all people of any age. Staff were absolutely amazing, I wish I could do more to thank them!

We were very warmly welcomed by Jo, on reception, who went above beyond to make our stay enjoyable. She is an absolute credit to Holiday Inn. The hotel was exceptionally clean, the head hotel housekeeper was super friendly, and the food was beautifully cooked and presented. All staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Our reason for staying was to be close to Colchester hospital, but we will definitely use it again, hopefully, for a getaway/break. Again, thank you to Jo for making our stay!

There were only 3 disabled parking spaces which were all in use, throughout our visit. It wasn't the end of the world, but it would be helpful to have more spaces for people with mobility issues, and seemed the ratio compared to electric vehicle spaces, which we only ever saw 2 cars parked in, made little logistical sense.

Restaurant was excellent Staff were incredibly helpful including refreezing our ice blocks for us We were also very grateful for the complimentary breakfast Some of the party also enjoyed the pool and sauna The beds were also incredibly comfortable

Layout of area in front of bathroom door in disabled room was difficult. It was hard to turn round to enter and exit the bathroom as there was too much furniture. The box cupboard next to the wardrobe was not needed There was also no rail on the right hand side of the toilet making it hard to get up from and there was no towel rail near the sink

The staff were all very friendly and went out of their way to make the experience easy and comfortable. The swimming pool was great. The on-sight restaurant and ease of parking. Rooms clean and tidy.

The gym would definitely benefit from an upgrade. The restaurant staff member didn’t ask me how I wanted my steak and when arrived I found it very tough/over cooked. I usually like medium/rare. I was going to get a sauce but she cut me off (politely) so I didn’t. The chips were far too over salted. On the whole the food was good and restaurant staff very polite and helpful but otherwise very happy.

Staff were fantastic - every staff member was really welcoming and super friendly, I could not fault the staff's attitudes at all. Swimming pool and changing rooms very clean and tidy - perfect sized pool for our one night. Great that it had a family area so the kids could play with their floaties and swimming toys. Room was clean and tidy - bedding comfortable. one minor comment regarding wine glasses in the room (see what we didn't like comment box).

There were two wine glasses in our room, in the cupboard, they had both been used and had remnants of red wine in them. The sofa bed was okay for kids but an adult wouldn't have found it comfortable. A fridge would have been handy but we did have a basic room. If we had a fridge and the wine glasses were clean, I would have rated this 10/10.

Not the first time here, but the standards were always high. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night’s sleep, and the room’s amenities, like high-speed Wi-Fi and a smart TV, added convenience. The outside playground was highly appreciated by the children. The restaurant was a delight. The menu offered a wide variety of dishes, prepared with fresh ingredients and bursting with flavor. The staff were attentive, and the ambiance was perfect for both casual and special occasions. Breakfast was particularly good, with an extensive buffet that catered to every taste.

The staff were friendly professional and very accommodating. The pool and the changing rooms were clean and warm. Nice hot showers and free hairdryer. The restaurant was clean and staff friendly and very helpful. The food and drink was delicious. The venue was quiet and peaceful and we felt very relaxed. The room was spacious and very clean. The bed was clean and had lovely comfortable bedding. The extra comfortable chair and table in the room was a lovely addition. Hot running water. The view from our room was pleasant and although there is a train that runs past we could hardly hear it.

The bed was a little hard and small for our liking although it was very clean a king-size bed would give a little more space and the room could accommodate that size. there was no toilet brush in the room and the toilet paper was very thin. I can't recommend the jacuzzi for disabled quests as it's not very easy to get in and out of although it does have grab rails the step in very high. There is no lift to the upper levels in the hotel which I feel would be an asset to those who struggle like me with the stairs.

Incredible staff, super polite and kind. Very professional as well and kindly offered us complimentary breakfast thanks to our Hilton Honours membership. The hotel was good overall, great to have access to the gym and breakfast was good too for the price. The location was good and worked well for us visiting family nearby. We would recommend and would stay here again.

I didn't like that the shower head wasn't fully detachable and cannot understand why the bathrooms have no toilet brush. This is utterly unacceptable and disgusting. The sheets were not as clean and could have been spotless but there were stains on them. We booked a double room and was surprised when we arrived and saw 2 single beds. This wasn't a big de though, but still very strange.
