excellent location, very clean.

booked a twin room with my 12 Yr old grandson, my room consisted of 2 x single beds pushed together. These were not able to be pushed apart due to bedside tables fixed to the wall. This was inappropriate for sleeping arrangements. When discussing this with reception 1 member of staff was very confrontational stating this is a twin room. I stated this is not acceptable and not what was advertised on their website and was inappropriate to share this with my grandson to which she repeated continously that this is a twin room. Another member of staff took over and we were allocated another twin room with beds apart from each other. Apart from that the stay was lovely.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this amazing hotel, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with my experience. The location is absolutely perfect, making it easy to explore the city and access all the main attractions. From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. Their professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail truly set this hotel apart. The service was outstanding—efficient, friendly, and always with a smile. The cleanliness of the hotel was impeccable. Every corner, from the rooms to the common areas, was spotless and well-maintained. It’s clear that hygiene and comfort are top priorities here. Overall, this hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. If you’re looking for a place that combines a prime location, exceptional service, and top-notch cleanliness, look no further. I highly recommend it and will definitely be returning!

The staff were wonderful- very welcoming and bent over backwards to accommodate our requests, such as fetching a jug of fresh milk because I don't like the long-life cartons. They gave us a small bottle of prosecco and chocolates, which was a nice touch. The hotel smelled nice and was clean, in general. The room (a twin) was spacious and comfortable. It was quiet, given the location and we slept well. I was here with my elderly Mum. The hotel was in a very central location and near where we needed to be.

This is an old building and looked lovely from the outside. The room was very under-whelming and dowdy. The painting of the old sash windows in the bathroom was really poor- I would have complained to the painter if I had employed them! The room had dirty-looking net curtains and it was all quite cold. In the bathroom, the button for the heated towel rail didn't work and it felt uninviting- I didn't want to shower/bath. The main room was cool too and with no controls that I could find to heat it or cool it, but I prefer a cool room so that didn't bother me- this would be a problem for others I think. I didn't ask for anything to be changed because we were only there one night.

Excellent location. Rooms had recently been renovated (2 weeks ago) so they were actually asking for feedback ahead of further refurbishments on other floors. Room was extremely clean and the decor was very modern. We loved the newly decorated rooms. Bathroom was absolutely stunning! We had breakfast included and a full hot and continental breakfast were on offer which was all really good quality.

If we were being picky there was not much storage space in the rooms. A small hanging area was with the tea/coffee facilities which was ample for our coats but we could have done with some drawers.

All of the staff we met were friendly and helpful.

The breakfast had a good selection for my son. However I have to eat gluten free food and drink oat milk. I asked if I could be catered for and was assured at the time of booking and again a few days before our stay that I would be accommodated. However at the time of breakfast they had no oatmeal milk and I had no choice of cereal just cornflakes although they did have gf bread. I wouldn’t have minded but If I you couldn’t have accommodated me I would have brought my own milk and breakfast!

I have stayed in a Thistle before therefore I had an idea of what to expect. I also liked that it was on the bus 91 route. This Thistle was lovely and welcoming. The friendly staff on arrival and the comfortable room made the stay as comfortable as could be. I asked for blankets for the night as we like to sleep in a cool room but with warm layers. The staff brought up extra blankets. The toiletries were effective and didn't feel 'budget'. Towels were nice and thick. Shower pressure was very good and we didn't miss not having a radiator in the bathroom. Were able to adjust the heating if we wanted to by turning the radiator valve. I had a cooked breakfast, which was satisfying and set me up for the day. Tiny thing I would have liked was de-caff tea in the room. There was de-caff coffee. I would definitely stay again.

The only tiny thing was one of the lamps flickered so we didn't use it. I completely forgot to mention it to the staff.

Great customer service and good central location in London. An older hotel with plenty of charm. Room was on the smaller side for two with suitcases but perfectly fine. They run an excellent breakfast service with an impressive buffet of hot and cold breakfast options.

Rooms are warm and have panel heaters but no air conditioning, for those who come from cooler climates. our room was on the road side so open windows at night meant a fair amount of road noise throughout the night. Earplugs recommended.

Great location. Very large, comfy bed. Lovely buffet breakfast (continental and full English). Staff were very polite.

No plugs or USB port by bed, so couldn’t use my charging phone whilst sitting on bed. Bedside plugs are a pretty standard hotel feature, but I think this hotel was designed a long time ago when such things were less necessary! Again, due to the age of the building, very creaky floorboards heard above my room, and my floorboards were creaking too. Not a massive deal, but can be disruptive to a peaceful night. And finally, you do hear road/pub noise even on higher floors as the windows are single pane (probably original) sash windows. But with earplugs I slept well. A nice hotel.

Room on 5th floor was bit more silent. Hotel location is excellent being close to underground stations and good walking distances to London central. Breakfast was a proper English breakfast...daily cooked fresh. Room size was acceptable and ideal for a short stay. TV was like a 50" and tea/coffee supply in room was a plus.

Oldish styling (Example windows not double glazed, no room air conditioning when needed in Summer warmer days), windows do not muff out street noise even though on 5th floor.

I last visited 2 years ago with my son. So liked the hotel for familiarity and main reason, so close to Great Ormand Street Hospital..... the main reason for our visit. It was nice to receive complimentary truffles.

Had issues closing the window shut properly, old wooden and locks flimsy. But I did notice during our stay there was people working on the windows. Lift is small for 2 people, a pram and suitcase, for disabled people it's a tight squeeze. Wish it was more disabled friendly. Our room had a step so it was hard entering the room with a pram as there was not much room to move. Disappointed you changed the lobby decor, those big red chairs are gone. It's nice that you provide umbrellas to hire.
