It's an old hotel, the 5 five stars categorization is a bit of a stretch if you compare with other major hotels. But, is well maintained with a lot of character, the staff and overall service is great and you're staying right in the middle of Brasov. Breakfast is really good in my opinion, lots of variety, with many Romanian specific options that reminded me of my mother's cooking (congrats for that). The room was clean, large bathroom, great mattress and pillows, good wifi signal, tv a little on the small side, but no complains with the room. And, of course, the pool, maybe not quite at the level of the one from Ana Sport hotel in Poiana Brasov, but definitely one of the best in Brasov. The 8th floor restaurant, yes, is expensive, however, the service and quality of food is next level, I wouldn't miss the experience if you're staying at Aro Palace.

Not complaining too much on this, considering the central location, but parking is a little expensive, and finding a cheaper spot in the public parking across the street is almost impossible as it's full most of the time. So, factor in 3.5 RON/h for parking when booking this hotel. The carpets in the ground floor restaurant looked pretty dirty and stained, for 5* I expect 5* cleaning.

Big open and spacious rooms, clean, very good breakfast ( one of the best there is ), friendly staff all round, amazing spa and one the best location you can find.

Let’s talk about the elephant in the room - it’s not a 5 star - those standards need to be rechecked. All thought parking is a delicate thing in Braşov, the hotel doesn’t have enough parking spots and it’s pricey ( a 5 star hotel should have parking for the money they claim / night ). Personally I found it shocking that there isn’t room service - again 5 star - and there isn’t a pure lobby bar to see a game and have a drink at night. The furniture is a refurbished one highlighting the golden days of its history but they need to upgrade it - those floor tiles are awful and the tv channels are basic and missing or have bad reception ( again 5 star hotel should be top notch all around - but it’s not the case )

Friendly staff, swift check-in, good coffee maker in the room, generous space in the bathroom, good breakfast, parking conveniently available in front of the hotel, environment-friendly recipients for toiletries (not the small plastic recipients for shapoo, shower gel and body lotion).

Carpet (wall-to-wall) in the room needs thorough cleaning, rather old furniture, balcony not clean. Would have welcome a bottle of water in the room upon arrival. Also, would help to have nets at windows to prevent flies and wasps from entering the room. Would have preferred liquid soap at bathroom.

Well this looks like a 60s office block when you first arrive, huge foyer and must be a good conference venue. Just behind the hotel is the old town which is stunning, so location wise it is excellent Roof top restaurant was excellent, great food and a cocktail on the terrace

Rooms were a little basic and certainly lacked plug sockets, considering we are all gadgets these days Breakfast was a bit of a miserable affair the restaurant is a bit dour food wise very good selection but lacked any atmosphere The bar downstairs seems to close early and was empty

Great breakfast & restaurant, exceptional location, all-around the staff was very helpful & friendly, great facilities (pool, fitness, Spa), the room was clean.

28 degrees in the room in April... The air conditioning was not bringing in cold air and the fridge was radiating A LOT of heat, so we had to keep the door open a lot of the time. Very expensive parking. If you have time to search, there are public parking spots close by that are MUCH cheaper, but you waste time doing this. Great view of Tampa hill, but basically no balcony to enjoy it from. Such a shame

Location was excellent, at the start of the old town. Easy to find by car and secure parking right outside. The pool was the biggest of any hotel i have ever stayed at. Also the pool and spa area was spotless, no sign of any mould or neglect. We had a beautiful view overlooking the old town . Big choice at breakfast but kept warm on hotplates which i hate.

This looks like a building built in the soviet era from the outside, so not the prettiest of hotels. The facilities would make it a 5 star but the carpets are all worn out everywhere and need changing. So this to me does let it down and it does not deserve the 5 star rating. Reception staff are ok but nothing special. But i will definitely stay here again when i next come to Brasov.

Location, the swimming pool (very warm and with natural light), very good options for breakfast, excellent view (backside), clean rooms.

The extra bed was kind of small. The apartment could benefit from an extendable sofa, which would be a better option for a family. The hotel is quite old, and for a 5 star hotel it could use some improvements; room doors (no soundproofing…you could hear everything from the hallway); curtains were a bit damaged; the bathroom could use a more modern showers for example. All was good, just not for a 5 star hotel.

Excellent location in the city centre, beautiful views of the whole town from the balcony. Superb lobby and generous spaces everywhere. Despite the central location the noise level is not disturbing at all. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast excellent, a lot of choices and great quality - I think it is these two elements that could warrant the five stars, the rest of the hotel is rather on a 4-star level.

The heating system could be improved. In the first room we got it was broken and didn't produce any heat at all. Then we asked for another room where it was working, but even though we followed the instructions to set the temperature, when we returned to the room there were sauna conditions, >30 degrees according to the display, so we had to keep the window open for a while. It was then fine for the night. The pool area is nice but could do with a little renovation, and a water/tea dispenser in the sauna area would be useful too.

The only 5* thing of this hotel is the pool, that is excellent and is the only reason I prefer to stay at this hotel when in Brasov. The hotel is really good, the room is large, comfortable beds, nice staff, very nice view from the room, but the 5* rating generates some expectations that are not met. The location is very good, very close to the main walking area in the center of Brasov, close to restaurants and bars.

It was very difficult to find a parking space in front of the hotel, and the tariff shown at the entry of the hotel parking was very expensive - 15 lei/hr. We then found out that in fact the parking for guests is only 3 ron/hr, but nobody bothered to inform us when we checked in. Examples of less than 5* characteristics: - towels are pretty aged and thin. Furniture a bit outdated. Minibar door did not close properly. - quality of breakfast - not great, not terrible. Nice salads and eggs, low quality deli meat (if it was a 3* hotel, I would have said breakfast was really good). - we stayed 2 nights, nobody cleaned the room or made the beds. I was surprised to go back to the room at 3 pm and find the beds unmade.
