A short and easy walk from the main train station. The check in was through a bakery which was odd at first but the staff were so welcoming and friendly. They also had my very heavy suitcase delivered to my room for me (which was a very pleasant surprise). There’s no lift and the stairs are narrow and steep. They have a very tiny cleaning lady who is incredibly strong and carried my case down for me single-handedly without being asked. She is also very polite and sweet. The hotel is quaint and boutique and extremely charming. The room is exactly like the pictures on the website - very pretty and welcoming. The bakery itself also does soup and the food in there is great. €18 for breakfast and additional coffee - it was absolutely delicious. Try the lemon and lavender cake if you get he chance. The room was street facing and had a great view of a lively part of Utrecht. The location is excellent! Minimal walk to all tourist attractions and max. 20 mins to cinema (for slower walkers), mall and the TivoliVredenburg (music venue) - though Utrecht is a city to slowly stroll through. One should not be in a hurry and take it all in.

Like most hotels in The Netherlands, it seems that their building retains heat. The sleep was a little rough as it was very hot inside and even when the windows were opened on floor 2, the airflow was quite slow. The room is well-equipped with air condition machine which is loud and works okay and a fan. It was just hard to sleep at night due to the heat and my refusal to use the ear plugs. The staff did warn me about the noise of the streets at night (due the excellent central location of the hotel) and supplied ear plugs. I would still pick this hotel as the benefits outweigh my stubborness.

The place is as super cozy The stuff was lovely and very helpful The cafe juts downstairs had a very nice vibe The room itself was greatly decorated, very nice furniture, they had taken care of every single detail, had a mini fridge which is super handy. Everything was very clean, and they cleaned my room daily

Annoyingly the private bathroom is was not en-suite although its was literally juts next door. I hadn’t really seen that when I booked the room , which for my personally it’s quite inconvenient. The room sad “room with balcony” but again the balcony was at the corridor and not in my room. For that price it seemed quite a lot to not have a bathroom. The location is super central, with an amazing view from the big window however the clock rings every 15 minutes and it’s very loud so if someone can’t sleep with noise staying so central is not a goo option

We experienced a stay and service that was nothing short of exceptional. The hospitality provided was wonderful, the rooms immaculate and the food at the downstairs Soep-er restaurant was delicious. We highly recommend staying here on your visit to Utrecht. Very interesting addition to our stay was learning that the hotel is actually situated on the remains of Paleis Lofen. The first palace of the original Utrecht. The gate is beside the hotel and the cellars have recently been opened to the public via a tour. We highly suggest booking the tour.

This hotel and experience in it were exceptional. I did not even mind the stairs. The room was spatious, comfortable, and equipped with everything needed. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, and early breakfast was tasty and plentiful. In general it was not just a place to return to sleep, it was more an experience:) I will definitely come back :)

Nothing really:) I myself can sleep through all noise, and even enjoy sounds of the city, but for ones who like silent nights - sounds of people on the street and dome tower bells are heard:))

It’s excellent central location is also a minus point. If you want peace and quiet, then here is not the place. You have the bells of the local tower through the day and night and the hum of the bars in the street below and revellers on their way home. Whilst this disturbed our sleep and rest, it did not outweigh the good location and comfort. Be aware the steep stairs are narrow and steep. Not easy to climb with a large suitcase.

A very good hotel centrally located in the centre of Utrecht, about 15 minutes from the central station. The bed was very comfortable, and the room overall very clean. The staff are very friendly, and can assist with any suggestions on what to do in the city. Breakfast is available each morning, which is plentiful and delicious. The cafe downstairs is also open for much of the day, selling locally made and fresh food. Overall it is a great base or exploring the city, I enjoyed my stay and thanks to Lotte and Julie for their great hospitality 👍

The room was very cramped with the portable A/C unit taking up a lot of the space, and was quite noisy at night. The stairs to the rooms are very narrow and steep, and have no lift. Getting big suitcases up to the room can be difficult.

The hotel is right in the centre of the old town surrounded by small businesses offering everything from shoes to boutique cafes. It sits on the canal and the buzz builds over the course of the day. The rooms were well appointed within the confines of the space dictated by the design of the traditional tall and slim buildings. The fittings were all in character while still including a modern shower, fridge, television and space for luggage. The breakfast is a must, with local cheeses and condiments along side the most delicious local sour dough bread and butter, all served overlooking the canal.

If you had mobility issues the staircase would make this almost impossible but it is in keeping with the constraints of the traditional building.

It's a beautiful and historic place, right in the middle of the center. Our room was big and comfortable. It's also very clean. The stairs are indeed as steep as the website says, which was no problem for us but do keep this in mind when you're less ready to drag a heavy suitcase upstairs.

We thought the beds were a bit too soft and the pillows a little thin for us, but that's personal preference and not unlike other places we stayed.

Fantastic location right in the heart of Utrecht, easy walking distance to the station and everything else. Staff were wonderful, very friendly, check in was easy as was storing our bags for a few hours upon check out. Room was delightful, super comfy bed and with all the amenities you’d need in the room. Great view of the canal from the window and a really lovely place to stay. I would definitely stay here again if I returned to this wonderful city!

A lot of the reviews mention the steep stairs but it really doesn’t prepare you for how steep they actually are! I enjoyed the novelty but it hurt my partners knees after a while. If I’m being picky the shower pressure wasn’t the best (but we were in the attic room so probably to be expected) and it was odd having the sink in the bedroom not the bathroom. But these are all minor problems and not enough to dampen our stay at all.

The 'standouts' are the location and the staff but everything was great. The hotel sits above a wonderful lunch menu restaurant, serving the greatest soup. I really recommend the Classic. The place is very veggie/vegan friendly. You can sit outside watching the world go by (next to one of the many canals in Utrecht) but you may have to wait for a seat. This place is popular! Our room was on the first floor and was comfortable and spotlessly clean. Very stylish and with tea & coffee making facilities and a mini-bar. Everything you could want from a superior room. This was our third stay here and I would say that it is worth paying a little extra, if you can, to get a superior room. Utrecht is not a cheap city so it may not be that easy to justify. We've stayed in other rooms and they are excellent too. I have to call out the staff. They are amazing. So welcoming and friendly and helped us with our luggage. On that subject, if you need to store bags then there is a secure area downstairs. Utrecht is our favourite city. If you are tempted by Amsterdam then I would really recommend taking the 20 minute train journey south. The railway station is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Shops, chips with mayo (who thought that was a good idea?) and, possibly, the best bike shop in the world - Republic Dutch.

Look, it's a dutch hotel so expect narrow and steep stairs and no lift. But the staff are so helpful and will help to get you settled in. Just be careful. The hotel is in a lively part of town so it can be a bit noisy. They provide ear plugs but we really didn't have to use them.
