It was better than a typical Hampton Inn. The historic building and location in downtown is the main draw. The staff was very friendly and helpful in providing local information. It was a great value that more than met our needs and expectations.

Not sure when the rooms were renovated but they did seem a little tired and dated. The public spaces were fine and provided historic photos of Birmingham and the building history. When in these spaces it did feel like a historic lux apartment building.

Picture is very deceiving....nice building, historical landmark, so that tells you a little bit about the structure. The staff was nice, rooms are clean, every other day maid service, daily if requested. Breakfast was more than I expected. Location is central to everything in the downtown area. Plenty of restaurants if you go out and explore the neighborhood. I would definitely stay there again when in the Birmingham area.

The location

The hotel looks beautiful from afar but up close it is in need of repair, peeling paint, musty smell, AC didn't work until you dropped it to 60 degrees. If the temp was higher than that it was sweltering in the room. The staff was very aloof, except for Ashley. I only interacted with her on the phone and she was phenomenal.

The staff was very friendly, to include the front desk, the people working at the breakfast and the valets were awesome. They were all very friendly and very accommodating. My sister and I really enjoyed making waffles in the morning. It was a new adventure for us. And the staff checked on us every day to make sure we had everything we needed and that we were comfortable. I always felt safe and welcomed.

Room was clean and quiet. Beds were comfortable and breakfast was good. Staff were helpful.

There was no refrigerator in our room which was an inconvenience as I had medication that needed to be refrigerated. Parking on the property was 38.00 per night so we chose to park on the street which was not ideal. It was handicapped accessable but only at one entrance.

The bed was super comfy. The room was clean. Very nice pillows. Breakfast was decent. The location was great, close to everything. Valet attendants were very friendly and their services were easy to use.

Bathrooms need updating which I did see signs stating those renovations are soon to come.

Breakfast was absolutely wonderful. Just loved the huge variety of choices. The location of the facility was close to everywhere we were trying to visit. The room was excellent. Bed was very comfortable. Everyone should visit the gym. It met our expectations and thank you for having towels available. Oh we just loved the history that is all over the hotel, great job.

No pool, and a charge of $35/day for valet which we did not use.

Old property with a lot of character. I'm glad Hampton Inns is keeping it alive. Breakfast was pretty good for an American mid-level hotel, and it was included. I think the nice lady at the front desk upgraded me at check-in because I had a nice suite with a separate sitting room. The location was great for walking to meeting at the Regions Bank building.

The carpet in the room was a little old. The price was relatively high for what you got. The parking lot is tiny, only for valet parking. I parked at a garage off site.

Check in. Older man at reception was very abrupt and not friendly. Woman doing the breakfast service was just awful, terrible attitude.

It is a beautiful historic hotel in the city center near the train/bus terminal and across the street from a nice park. Good breakfast.

The hotel restaurant and bar were very nice but there was not an abundance of other eateries in the area at least not that we discovered.
