Its a gorgeous building, thoughtfully refurbished so that the essence of its age isn't lost or the need for modernity compromised. With a small number of rooms it felt intimate but not exclusive because of the excellent restaurant on the ground floor which kept it alive. Our room was spacious and the beds comfortable. It kep cool with out AC, (tho we did use it) due the thickness of the old walls which was a real bonus. As a solo female traveller I'd have felt totally safe here with friendly familar staff all week.

We'd have liked a few more tea bags etc.

The hotel is built into the Roman walls of Diocletian's Palace and evidence of this is everywhere in the clever, stylish conversion. The ground floor restaurant/lobby area was the double height stables from the Roman period, it is thought. The hotel is less than five minutes walk from the seafront and one minute walk to the City Museum (currently closed for renovation) and the central peristyle gathering space. You are right in the centre of everything. The breakfast was from a limited menu of eggs (done however you wanted), toast, ham and cheese and delicious coffee. All served at the restaurant table - either inside or on the front pavement or back garden. It was very good value and the price adjusted to what you actually had. We had a full evening meal twice at the Leonis Restaurant (both inside and outside) and these were the best (of generally good ) meals we had during a week in Split and surrounding area. The fish was especially good - and the homemade desserts! Everything exceeded our expectations and we were overwhelmed by the kindness of everyone at the hotel and in Split in general. Among many kindnesses we experienced in the hotel was the lady who came up in the very early morning when we were leaving to ask if she could take our luggage down and the complementary bruschetta which we were offered a couple of times when we came back for a drink in the hotel - which we did often because it was so well located and such a pleasant environment, Embarrassingly almost everyone in the hotel and in Split spoke near-perfect English and it was great to chat and find out so much about the area and its history.

There was nothing! If you have a top floor room there are rather a lot of steps and no lift, but ours was on the first floor. Split was already crowded by the end of April so recommend visiting out of season.

Located within the walls of the beatiful oldtown/palace everything is easy accessible by foot. The room was really nice and spacious, the bed very comfortable, the air condition was highly appreciated and the staff extra nice and friendly! Wifi works well. There‘s a cute restaurant with in-& outside seating options. The airport transfer they organised went very well. I would definitely stay there again when visiting Split.

The shower could use a little update. You need to be aware that there‘s no elevator, but that‘s not a big issue and they help you with the luggage. The curtains are not that dark, so if you‘re sensitive to light it‘s good to bring a sleeping mask.

I loved staying here. The stuff are really lovely. It is quiet and tucked away from the hustle, but very central, close to everything: the seafront, green market, bus station, Old town… Highly recommend the restaurant, it is exceptionally high quality, both super fresh seafood and all other dishes. The stuff will read your mind and advise the best choices of food and wine, suiting your taste.

Having a little fridge in the room would be really great

The staff are super friendly, they offered a cake and a birthday card for my friend which happens to have birthday during our stay. They are very attentive, super professional, sweet and friendly and so respectful. I totally recommend. Our stay was wonderful and everything went great and beyond our expectations! Not to mention the breathtaking room view! We got a room on the last floor and the view from the windows on the old town of Split is just waw…

Location excellent for old town. Beautiful setting . Restaurant is excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room good and modern , could do with fridge as keeping A supply of cold water cold would be good.

No fridge to store drinks as it was very hot and water we bought went warm very quickly. No iron or hairdryer but not sure if you could get one if you asked. I brought my own hairdryer and just decided not to iron my clothes as only a little creased .

The staff was very nice and carried our luggage up to our rooms for us. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. We had two quiet nights (the kitchen noises were very low in my opinion). The location is amazing, right in the old town but still on a quieter street.

There is a construction site opposite the hotel which was quiet on the weekend but started pretty early on Monday. The hotel obviously can't do anything about it but it's a bit of a bother and not a nice view especially when men are working there and can see into your room if you don't close the blinds.

The location is right in the center and it is beautiful just to walk around. The building is stunning, really impressive, especially the restaurant area. The bed is extremely comfortable, there is plenty of space for the clothes and the bathroom is very large (the soap and so excellent). The staff let us leave our luggage there for free - very appreciated

There is no shared area where you can stay (anyway they left us use one of their tables in the restaurant which wasn´t occupied). The shower would leak a lot, forcing us to have very very short showers.

The rooms were large and comfortable. The staff were helpful and pleasant. Location can't be beat - easy to navigate from the bus stop or ferry port and taxi stand and in Diocletian Palace.

There are a lot of stairs up to the room - 66 to the 3rd floor where we stayed. They communicated this clearly so it wasn't a surprise. There is no mini fridge, which would've been nice.

Really nice room, super spacious for the price. Lots of naturals light. Perfect location, it would be too loud if the hotel was more in the center. Amazing restaurant.

I would appreciate a locker for the door, something to make sure the door is closed from the inside. Something extra than the magnetic card which allows to open the door from the outside. Also a bin in the room would be nice, like a desk bin, so we don't have to put everything in the bathroom bin.
