The room is spacious. We arrived near midnight and found that the cot keeps collapsing. We talked to the young lady at the reception and she came to the room and confirmed the condition. 10 or 15 min. later, she sent a much better cot. We appreciated that. The breakfast was very good.

The green carpet degraded the room. The tub is very small with a step seat which may be a trip hazard.

We made a last-minute reservation two days before our stay, as we were mostly based in Reykjavik but needed to stay one night further east for logistical reasons. Finding a family room for our family of three (parents plus a ten-year old) was a pleasant surprise. The hotel does not look that fancy from the outside but is clean and nice inside. What we valued very much — and what is not that common in Iceland — was the heat and dryness in the room. We came there drenched but our clothes were dry by the morning! Even the hotel towels dried during the night. Also, it felt luxurious to dip into a hot tub after a day in the rain. Our room was at the end of a corridor and very quiet. Other guests seemed to be mostly Asian tourists who continued their journey relatively early in the morning. The breakfast was rather good in the Nordic terms; not that much variety but anything essential did not seem to be missing. Check-in and check-out were easy and quick.

A slight downside of the dryness and heat of the room was that the room was slightly too warm. Waking up in the night sweating is not what you would expect in Iceland. The duvet (blanket) was quite thick for the temperature. When we checked in, we were recommended to take our breakfast after 8.30, as there were three large groups leaving early. We could not follow the recommendation due to our own schedule and started our breakfast at 8. We did fit in the lobby where the breakfast was served, but some dishes had been consumed and were not replenished. Nothing very critical, though. Overall, the negatives were very minor compared to the positives. We were positively surprised by the hotel.

Accommodations where quite and comfortable. The individual accommodation was great for our stay. We where given accommodation that I would have called a suite, bed room, sitting area and a private bath. The breakfast included the typical European and English breakfasts, very good. Accommodations where quiet and comfortable. They also had hot tubs which were nice after a day of hiking in the cool damp weather.

For the positives, the wonderful worker at the front desk let us check in bit early. The weather was terrible so it was nice to get off the road. Breakfast was great, lots of choices. Bathroom clean.

No refrigerator in the room. Carpets a bit worn but clean. Sheets worn but clean as well. This is a tour bus hotel, so find out when the groups are eating breakfast so you can pick a more quiet time.

Location (very close to the main key touristic places, e.g. 20 min drive to Seljalandsfoss, 40 min drive to Skógafoss), clean and well-equipped room, great and varied breakfast (in addition to typical continental breakfast, it included eggs, sausages, porridge, waffles etc.), friendly and supportive staff.

Quite thin walls or doors because we could hear the neighbors running back and forth and chatting early in the morning.

Breakfast was fine. We got larger room than expected which was nice. There is a very nice hot tub area which we explored but due to time restraint did not use, will next time. The room had a bathtub and a shower which we always consider a big bonus. Friendly staff and very fast check-in and -out.

Not a big issue, but now being able to buy some light food in the afternoon at the bar/restaurant

The Hotel Hvolsvollur was like a nice chain hotel in the US. Our room had a private bathroom and was comfortable, quiet, and clean. Parking was free in the lot. A very nice, included breakfast was served with many choices. The restaurant served dinner also, but there were other restaurant options in the area.

Bus tour people descending on the breakfast like vultures.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location and parking were great. The room was spacious and comfortable. Everything was very clean, which is important to me. The breakfast had lots of options and we appreciated the hot foods like eggs, sausage and oatmeal.

Loved the hot tubs, there were two of them and they were open until 10pm. The room was very spacious and clean The buffet breakfast was well-stocked with good variety.

The doors tended to slam.shut, and noise from the hallways/common areas travelled.

The guy at the reception, the young ladies in the bar and restaurant are very friendly, helpful and professional ones. The hotel has a very big parking place. Even the hotel has an own restaurant, but not too far from the hotel you find other opportunities as well. The location of the hotel is good for Polar Light hunters. :-)

The bathtub is little, and very difficult to crawl in. Dinner: even the portion of the main plate is quite big, but the tastes are not too sophisticated. Comparing to the other restaurants we visited -maybe- it was the least good one.
