Overall, the room was nicely appointed and comfortable. We had a nice view of the ocean, though the rooftop obstructed it a bit. From what we observed on Sairee Beach, this was one of the nicer properties close to town. The air conditioning and Wi-Fi worked well in the room, and I was able to take Zoom video calls with no issue. The location was a 10-minute walk to the beginning of the Sairee beach stretch, lots of nice restaurants close by. There is an infrequent free shuttle to town, and they offer a paid service outside scheduled times (which is cheaper than the local taxis). There was also an inexpensive laundry just across the street from the hotel, which did a pretty decent job. There is a 5-star PADI dive shop on site, which currently shares facilities with Black Turtle Scuba Shop (which is also top-notch). While we did not use the on-site dive shop as it was a bit more pricy than those in Sairee Beach, it seemed like a good option if you value convenience.

As other reviewers have noted, the location is up hill from town ... this walk was not too bad, but the stairs leading up to our room were quite steep (and a pain to climb up after the uphill climb). Additionally, the breakfast is adequate by US standards (which are very low), but not "nice" by Asian standards. The in-house restaurant lacks tasty vegetarian options. The staircase is not well lit up at night, which can be very problematic if it rains. The "hot" water in the shower was lukewarm at best, though this was bearable since the weather was hot and muggy. Finally, losing a room key (which would not be a big deal in chain hotels) can incur an expensive THB 500 fine ... we almost lost ours but thankfully someone found it in the dining area and returned it!

The property is lovely and you get a real feel of nature. It was gorgeous waking up every morning with the view of the sea ,nothing more tranquil. We love the hotel , they have everything to facilitate your stay. From umbrellas to beach towels.

Where our room was located it to much steep walking to get up and down to the room by foot. So between the heat and walking but the time you get to your room your legs are tired. The hotel does offer a golf caddy to bring you up but not convenient if you’re coming home from the town and it’s a little on the late side.

Overall, I had an excellent stay at Tarna Align. The hotel is well located, a few minutes walking distance from the beach (you can enjoy a free shuttle on the evening). Be aware it's on a hill so better to rent a scooter. The pool access rooms are the best: they give you access to a private pool shared with 2/3 rooms & private sun beds on your terrasse (the general pool is very small and not super nice...) Rooms are quite cosy, and well equipped. Good amenities in the bathroom. I do not put more than 8/10 because I think the hotel price-range is a bit high and services does not align with a 4* hotel (when you pay 150/200€ a night in Thailand you expect a certain level of services, and this hotel is below what other 4* provide in the region for the same price).

Unfortunately not much storage in the room to put your cloths. Also, NO privacy at all in the toilettes or the shower (no blind door, only a fully transparent glace door with direct view in the room... I personally found this quite unpleasant. Breakfast is fine, but a bit basic. Do not expect much. The hotel has a very nice rooftop bar with sunset view, but there is clearly no wish to take advantage of it. Unfortunately there is a lake of investment to make this spot nice & cosy. Some progress could be made (better furniture, better lights, some music in the evening ?)

Lovely hillside resort in Koh Tao, about 10-15 mins from main Sairee Beach area (walking, but two mins via shuttle which we always used). Clean, modern and comfy beds. Best part for us was the on-site dive school run by Johnny, where me and my partner completed a discovery dive with Ross, one of their fantastic instructors. We would recommend this to anyone interested - just consider getting your medical history checked before arrival to be dive-ready!

Not a problem for us, but the resort is built into a hill and involves a lot of stairs etc to get from the room to the restaurant etc. The hotel easily provided golf cart around the villas and shuttle to the town but still worth knowing if you have mobility issues as it would slow down your day waiting for transport.

Hotel is really nice and well located (10mn driving from pier, 10mn walking/2mn driving from restaurants and nightlife). Calm atmosphere, nice view, easy shuttle to pier or town. Strengh of the place is however the scuba diving school. Hotel has a dedicated 3.5m deep pool to practice. Not sure I could have found a better place to do my Open Water certification. Johnny was the perfect teacher. humanly and technically skilled as well as really friendly and funny. I don't see how I could have had a better trainer.

The fact that I had to leave to go back home !

Amazing views from the hotel, which is a nice short distance from the busy area of Sairee Beach. Lovely pool, and one of the few places where it doesn’t feel like they’ve cramped as much accommodation as they can into small spaces. One of the best breakfasts of our month in SE Asia.

Our villa was quite dark with minimal lighting, which is great at night but sometimes even with all lights on you couldn’t see clearly inside. The shower also didn’t drain very well so whenever you got in there was a lot of water from the previous shower the day before. However these are just little things and did not impact our stay much.

Lovely rooms we had the bungalow and it was worth spending the extra. Golf cart buggy up to rooms was great touch - really great service from the men operating the buggy’s. Had WhatsApp for collection from main town which was really good too!

Rooms were very dark even with all lighting on. When we arrived staff were slightly chaotic/not a lot of organisation (understand it was busy but never experienced this since arriving in Thailand). Had to go to pool to wait for over an hour asked for pool towels from pool staff however they never gave us any. Had arranged with hotel for collection from pier never turned up after contacting hotel via telephone twice had to pay for a taxi after waiting an hour and a half. The hotel did reimburse the price of taxi however waiting around did put a dampener on the start of our stay here.

The room was comfortable, Checkin was easy and staff was friendly, very helpful. I found the chat on whatsapp to front desk very useful & clever. I wish more hotels used that feature because it's quick & direct instead of having to call reception. They helped us get a motorbike delivered to the hotel and picked up on leaving. There was free shuttle to & from the pier. I enjoyed breakfast every morning. There's a golf cart you can call to go back & forth to your room if you want since it's pretty hilly.

I wish housekeeping paid attention to small things like restocking toiletries & giving back the same amount of white towels that they took out. The cats became annoying because they ran in our room everyday no matter how fast we tried to open & close the door & would run under furniture or behind curtains when we tried to get them out. One didn't mind being picked up & carried out but another swatted at us so we had to call to get removed. The round pool is always used by divers so it's not really a 2nd pool available as they say.

Nice view, calm area/surrounding, close to popular streets with restaurants and bars. Clean room and cosy bed. Free shuttle service to and from pier. Young cats live there who love to be stroked. Wifi worked well on our room.

One pool is for scuba dive shop, the other shared is small with few sunbeds. A construction site is close which didn‘t bother us nor could we hear when we were inside the honey moon suite.

The staff were very attentive and extremely polite, the resort offers golf cart rides to and from the resort as well as a shuttle. The breakfast buffet was the best selection that we’ve had in Thailand so far. The resort is in a good location.

There were only 4 sun beds around the pool, and the bartender wasn’t around much to take orders. We also noticed that the sink tap in the bathroom was constantly leaking
