People were always helpful and friendly. The location felt safe (especially compared to other parts of downtown). It was also convenient to walk to other parts of downtown and there were many nearby bus options that were convenient to go to other parts of the city. Really the convenience was very satisfactory. The garden area was very nice to sit in. In general the condition of the hotel was quite nice. I would come back here, if they keep the current price points.
Generally everything was great. I only did not enjoy the amount of offer emails I got in the meantime. The other thing I did not love was the use of plastic during breakfast. I wish they gave out normal and reusable plates and cutlery and cups, instead of the plastic ones - there can be steps taken for sustainability.

Very convenient location for my needs. I was rushed for time when I checked in, and had to resolve an issue with my room when I returned around midnight. The night manager was very kind and resolved my issue by relocating me to another room.
My initial room had a strong perfume smell, so I was worried that all of the rooms were scented. I was having an allergic response. However, it was evidently caused by a previous guest who had used that room. I was relocated to a room with no scent issue. The continental breakfast was not too impressive. You can toast your own bagel. Have a banana. Coffee in a small disposable cup. This is free, but there's a $30 amenity fee. Parking cost $40 a night.

The staff was wonderful and accommodating. They informed me about what to expect (housekeeping) and were very helpful and kind. The room was really quiet too, I didn't hear anyone above, below, or on either side of my room! That's rare for a hotel. Oh, and the freezer in the mini fridge actually kept things frozen! I had a personal sized bag of ice that lasted my entire stay of 4 nights without melting! The hotel itself was great!
The server at the restaurant forgot to put our food orders in, then when he was reminded, he ended up giving our food to another table. And we had to actually ask him to bring us the check so we could leave for an event. We ended up being late because of the delay. He was really charismatic, but not very apologetic about the mistakes. I had a lot of trouble locating the entrance of the driveway upon my arrival.

The variety of different kinds of things you could do to entertain yourself. Arcade machines, games, s’mores night and a pop up event for small businesses owned by women. It definitely wasn’t your usual set up for a hotel. My son loved it. We had 2 very rainy days and the hotel offers umbrellas. They suggested things to do in the area which was great.
The breakfast could do with updating. Sorry, but it was not good at all. The hotel itself was a little cold in temperature. I didn’t feel like you could walk around in a t-shirt , definitely needed a sweater. If you want to go anywhere then plan walking. I was expecting the hotel to be downtown for the convenience but it’s on the outskirts. That’s no reflection on the hotel itself though.

The staff at the front desk is amazing, very friendly and acoomodating. Love the game room, we played a few games as well as Mario Kart on a big screen and had a couple of beers one night, the other night we had s’mores in front of a fire at the patio which was lovely. WiFi works perfectly. Location is great, with many options for public transport nearby and a Market store at walking distance.
The Microwave was not in the room, it was right next to the elevators and we had to walk there when we want it to use it, a bit inconvenient but not a big deal. Phone in our room was not working but who uses them anyway, there was one in front of the elevators in case we needed to call front desk without going down. Breakfast was just ok, I expected some form of fruit juice and either sausage or ham but none of those were available, plus the only form of eggs they had was boiled for the three days we stayed.

The room was clean, nice, and quiet. The staff was so friendly when I arrived and continued to be friendly the entire stay despite my needing three new keys. The games, equipment, quick breakfast, and relaxing entry were all a bonus. The Wifi was great. The actual shampoo and conditioner dispenser was really lovely. I hate those small waste bottles. The parking was easy and I liked the electric car charger and had not expected that. I will come back. I want to play more in Portland. The location was perfect. But, really what will bring me back was how nice all the staff were. I felt like they cared that I was staying there.
Nothing. It was great. And thanks for the microwave and cutlery on the floor.

Our recent stay at Hotel Zags was nothing short of fantastic, thanks to the outstanding hospitality from staff members like Lucas and Jessica. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel right at home with their warm and friendly demeanor. It wasn't just their hospitality that stood out; it was how relatable they were, making every interaction feel genuine and memorable. The lobby at Hotel Zags is something special, too. The music selection is vibrant, perfectly curated, and brings such an uplifting energy that we found ourselves spending extra time just to soak in the good vibes. It truly feels like the heart of the hotel, and you can't help but want to stay and enjoy the atmosphere. With such incredible people and a lively environment, it’s no surprise that Hotel Zags has become our top choice whenever we're in Portland. Lucas, Jessica, and the entire team have set a standard for service that keeps us coming back time and again. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking to have an unforgettable stay.

Convenient location in downtown Portland, with easy access to the waterfront, PSU farmer's market and various local eateries. Being former NYCers, we enjoyed the short walk to Powell's bookstores and other nearby attractions. Check-in was easy, front desk friendly and knowledgeable, gladly supplying us with the daily water bottles as requested. Partner and I enjoyed our comfortable stay in the street-facing yet fairly quiet room, and indulged in the downstairs game room on multiple occasions. Daily s'mores happy hour was a nice touch.
Breakfast was very simple with sparse options, mostly bagels and cereal. Limited fruit options. Coffee was not great, I opted to purchase elsewhere.

Room was great and comfortable, very clean. Location was within walking distance of great attractions. I had a lovely view from my room and staff were very helpful. I got great recommendations from the front desk staff. also appreciated having a mini fridge and safe in the room. Starbucks coffee in room was a nice surprise.
I wish there was housekeeping each day. I stayed for three nights and they did not provide room cleanup, fresh towels, remove garbage, or restock water/coffee in the room. Wifi was quite spotty. I also had trouble controlling the thermostat in my room.
