Located on the beach and just one road back from Akaroa's main street, this motel is ideal. The beach outside the hotel is stony, but just a couple of hundred yards to the left is a sandy beach which you can easily walk to. Our large, clean and well-appointed upstairs room had plenty of space, a double bed and a second bedroom with two single beds. There was a flat screen TV, good WI-FI, a coffee table, settee, table for eating and working and a heater for colder days. The kitchen had everything you might need (microwave, hob, toaster, kettle, fridge) but no oven. there was also a DVD player and DVD's to rent if you wanted. Limited hanging space and even more limited drawers for clothes were the only drawbacks. Keilie on reception could not have been more helpful. We did try the spa which was fun too!

Stunning location on the waterfront - could hear the water lapping overnight. We sat on the balcony in the morning and fed the birds! Spacious apartment for the family and comfortable beds. The lady in reception was super helpful and brought an extra heater and recommended places to eat. The Madeira Hotel pretty much opposite did great great food and we liked the local pub feel. My kids loved the outdoor pool table and chess set. Lovely little town and a shame we were only there one night.

Only one thing: the wall heater only semi worked in our unut (82) and the wall switch was broken - making worrying electrical clicks. We reported this to reception as, although it did not impinge on our stay, we would have felt it was very dangerous if we had younger kids. Reception said they had already reported to motel owners - I hope owners fix this ASAP.

The view from our room was breathtaking! Sitting on our little private balcony listening to the water and birds, while watching the sun go down was magical. Location was perfect, on the waterfront with an easy walk to restaurants, shops, bars and swimming beach. The unit was roomy, comfortable and clean. We would definitely stay here again.

The property is located on the Akaroa Bay with great views. Our unit, on the gound level, had a terrace with chairs. Picnic tables and bean bag chairs were available for use by all guests. The kitchen had clean, working appliances. The dishes were clean and well organized. The bedroom faced the parking lot, but the area is quiet. No nightime noise. The staff was helpful and friendly, Parking was available for free in the motel lot. Everything is within walking distance. For a small town, Akaroa had a variety of restaurants, cafes, shops and points of interest.

Elise was a lovely hostess. We had a ground floor waterfront room - wonderful.. It was lovely to watch the water change,boats, birds... very restful. Well equipped kitchen. Lots of outdoor furniture. Quiet for sleeping. Location to everything was easy walking distance. We had no car so walked every where. Lots of outdoor games. Great laundry facilities.

Would have been nice to easily access online platforms.

fresh water stream flowing through the property into the bay, beatiful Akaroa Harbour, sea birds, etc. Scenic view of the harbour when low tide; about 5 mins or less walk to a lovely french bakery of excellent choices to go wiith coffee / milk :)

Would be better, most helpful to make know of curvy mountain roads are expected; best plan arrival in daylight NOT driving nightime. Too short of time for just 1 night :( should at least 2 nights :)

Location was fantastic and close proximity to town. The room was large and catered to all our needs. The property was right on the water, such a peaceful spot! Additionally, the extras of table tennis & sports equipment was a lovely touch.

Walls were quite thin, could hear other guests talking/laughing late into the evening. Water pressure in the shower was quite low.

Excellent location. Clean. Staff very accommodating. Love the extra facilities like giant chest game, pool table, plenty of kayaks and bike hire, lots of outdoor space to enjoy bbq food on sunset and great companies. Electric blankets are saviour.

It's clean but may need upgrading, such as fan in bathroom. Was hard to get it dry, especially with 4 people staying. Extractor fan in kitchen would be bonus. Need work on sliding doors. Ours a bit stiff. We could also hear upstairs squeaky sliding doors. Would love to see more couch space and non slippery dining seats

Loved the accomodation, and scenery we will be coming again with the children next time!

Lack of staff on reception, we had some guests above us who caused so much noise, playing music in their car at night, throwing beer bottles on the rocks but other than that everything was perfect!!!!

The view of the beach from our bed was spectacular- a million dollar view. The weather outside was horrible and rainy, but the heater in the unit was so efficient and kept the room toasty warm.

The shower head needs a good "decalcifying" as half the water jets were blocked - not a deal breaker, but somewhat annoying.
