We stayed in room three on the first floor at the front of this lovely old Georgian house hotel. Our room provided everything we needed for a good night's stay: comfortable beds, tea & coffee, fridge, fan, TV, WiFi, an excellent walk-in shower and lovely toiletries. Breakfast was delicious and the hosts were friendly and welcoming. It was a pleasant 15-20 minute stroll into town, much of it alongside the river. We felt the hotel offered excellent value for money and we would definitely stay again if we visit Ross-on-Wye.

Room was fine & bed fairly comfortable, although no window we could leave open only a fire escape (glass panel) onto the roof which we couldn’t leave open during the night. As a result the room was hot. A fan was provided to help. The shower room was adequate, if small but ok for a one night stay . The hosts were very helpful & friendly & food very good. Good location to walk by the river & get into Ross on Wye centre. We enjoyed our stay there

A very friendly welcome from the owner, mentioned my name before I had to say anything as he was expecting me, a nice touch! Walked me to my room rather than just pointing where to go, another nice personal touch. An old building with appropriate decor, comfortable bedroom with a nice size bed (3/4 double rather than a single as booked) and a nice big corner bath with powerful shower. Nice area outside to sit out in the sunshine, bar well stocked and food is home-cooked and great quality. Free parking and a great location.

It was a very last minute booking for work, upon arrival, we were taken to our rooms and they were lovely, i watched a film in my room so the Wifi was spot on. I ordered a pizza which i collected and took to my room, there was a reasturant on site but i grabbed a pizza on the way back from a pedal in the Forest of Dean (only 20mins away), the owners didnt mind at all. The Bed was sooooo good i just wish i could have spent more time in it rather than having to go to work! The breakfast was perfect, i only had a bacon sandwich but it was very good! My colleage had a full English and was fab, Highly reccomned staying here!

Didn't try breakfast. Help carrying suitcases to room. Self contained single room with en suite. Parking on site. Clean, tidy, good value.

Would have liked: more lighting in room - I'm an embroiderer - but this is probably not needed by most visitors. An additional lock on inside of door. Observation, not complaint - warning re lots of stairs. Was fine for me, but could be a problem for older or disabled visitors.

We had a lovely welcome from Steven, checked in on our way to Principality stadium for a concert. The hotel is in a great location on the main road down to Cardiff. Lovely independent hotel with bags of character. We booked 3 rooms...all lovely and comfortable with everything you could need including fans!!! We had a lovely cooked breakfast the next morning in the large dining area. I highly recommend Castle Lodge Wilton.

Castle lodge hotel ticks all the boxes that I look for when choosing somewhere to stay. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are comfortable, theres plenty of parking, but most of all the food is awesome. As a vegetarian it's great to have choices, and the quality of those choices is top notch. My favourite this time was the mushroom risotto, this is a standard vegetarian choice but the Castle Lodge version took it to a whole new level of loveliness. I would go back there just for that!

Lovely small hotel, although it's by the main road it was surprisingly quiet, very clean and the owners were very friendly and accommodating. Perfect location for touring around The Forest of Dean and surrounding area. Value for money it certainly was. We would recommend to anyone.

Bed slightly uncomfortable but not a major issue, WiFi a bit hit and miss. Neither points should put anyone off staying here.

The hotel was a lovely find geat room with nice views comfy bed . The hosts were very friendly & made you feel very welcome. The breakfast was delicious & just a 15-minute flat walk into the town. We cut through after the bridge & walked along the rive bank, which took you to the Hope & Anchor pub with loads of outside sitting area. Which was fabulous. We had a fabulous 2 night stay & the weather was great which made it even better. Will definitely go back to that hotel.

Quilt on the bed was a little heavy, but that was just me.

Our hosts were the owners of this property and clearly dedicated to the comfort of their guests. Our bedroom was a little small but very well appointed. I was a bit concerned about the hotel’s proximity to a main road but there was no need. It was very peaceful and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent, cooked to order and with great quality ingredients it seemed from a proper butchers shop. What’s not to love?
