Hotel palace review Despite so many complaining comments, I am running to leave a genuine and happy review here from me as the stay at this hotel was more than delightful :,) I travel to Bologna every year and I do try to book a place on a budget and Hotel Palace was one of those budget choices also - with so many complains in the comments. Although many would not consider the place because of the comments here, I will try my best to change the point of view with my opinion. First of all - reception is so nice, people are so warm and always so sweet to talk to you. I instantly felt welcomed and overheard them talking to others - they do consistently work like that with all their customers :,) Second thing - the room is so nice! Mine was a small room on the third floor and it had a cute window with a view of Bologna’s oldtown roof tops. And that is so sweet! I spent my mornings and my evenings sitting by the window and welcoming the sun also - watch it set down. It was beautiful to say the least! Loved that! The room despite being a smaller one, did not lack space and was soo light always from sunlight coming from the window. Working by the table was really sweet during the days too - I wasn’t feeling sad when I had to work on a sunny day because I could be there with windows wide open. Third thing - I saw complains about the building/rooms/facilities being old? And of course - it’s an oldschool hotel although I’d say it just adds the charm to the picture. I never saw and never will see a problem of hotels being old - as long as it was comfortable, clean and served the purpose of staying a night or few, it is brilliant. And so this Hotel was just that. About cleanliness - also found complains about that. My room was cleaned every single day - new towels prepared, new little soaps ect. It was a fresh every single day and I always thought it’s more than I’d expect from a hotel.

The location is excellent. Very good value. Very clean large bed and good size room. Consistent shower pressure and temperature. Excellent wi-fi. A view of the two towers from our bedroom window.

The cinema next door / in the same building was far too loud late at night. The carpets in the bedroom and corridor could all do with a good clean, as they were all looking tired. However, the room Inc bathroom, and breakfast area was very clean.

Great location, friendly and helpful staff, good value.

Poor sound insulation. Neighboring cinema could be heard throughout our entire floor. Room was shaking with the movie's audio.

I loved the location, the staff was absolutely wonderful. The hotel itself is a little bit tired but that didn’t bother me at all. If anything, it gave me a feeling of authenticity. I enjoyed my stay there immensely

Breakfast was a total disappointment

Location for the price is SUPER! The hotel is literally a block from the Piazza Maggiore. We really appreciated the 24-hour front desk, air-conditioning, lots of hot water day or night in the shower, the secure parking, the elevator, the not-too-soft/not-too-hard beds and pillows, and the hearty breakfast. The staff were extremely helpful and responsive to a couple of small maintenance issues in the room. We have stayed there before and will stay there again! We like its old-fashioned feeling, and the giant lobby with its open seating areas, painted ceiling and chandelier are really a treat!

There isn't anything I could mention here. The hotel is old, but that's part of its charm. If you're looking for modern chrome and glass, this is not it! :)

This hotel set in the historic centre was an excellent choice to explore the art and architecture of Bologna. Whilst the interior of the hotel had a rather shabby but gentile look the staff were kind and helpful providing glasses for an impromptu party of friends in the very large reception area and chilling our champagne on two separate evenings after dinner. I shared a junior suite with a friend which was spacious and very clean despite the rather worn carpets and tired look. Breakfast was plentiful and self served in a bright light room with lovely staff.

A few more coat hangers would be helpful and using soap and shampoo dispensers rather than single use sachets - which were impossible to open once you were in the shower and had wet hands

We really enjoyed our stay here we had a large comfortable room with a terrace. We had a good shower with decent water pressure. Lovely fresh sheets and towels were changed regularly.The staff were friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was good each morning. We would definitely return. We enjoyed the historic feel to the hotel.

A fridge in the room would be good especially when it’s so hot and when booking a junior suite. A kettle would algo be good we did bring a travel one but it would be nice if one was provided. But otherwise it was lovely

I had a room on the top floor (5) and found the whole experience positive. Yes, there are various signs of wear and tear and the Hotel Palace Bologna will not be to everyone's taste! The shower for example looked like something from the mid 20th century, but was fully functional. The rooms decor was pretty basic and as far as I could find there wasn't any Aircon. The Breakfast was pretty good, much the same as most low budget hotels provide. The free internet was quick. The staff were great, even lending me a power adapter for the Italian 3 pin sockets in the rooms. (Normal EU 2 pin will not fit). It was about 15-20 minutes walk from the train station along mostly flat roads (no big hills). Great price for a good location!

The rooms soundproofing is poor! It did nothing to reduce the painful noises coming from the person playing the trumpet in the adjacent room all afternoon! The lift could do with a new motor as well, it was so slow!

Excellent location at the heart of Bologna's downtown! Just around the corner from all main attractions including the church, the fountain of Neptune and the twin towers. The facility had a vintage flair that I liked, it represented the "old" Italy in terms of style and interior decor - much more unique as opposed to the over commercialised accommodation facilities in Rome and Venice. An array of convenience and souvenir shops in the area. 15 minutes away on foot from the Central Train station - the city also offered an excellent opportunity to explore the small country of San Marino.

Perhaps the facility could consider a "silent policy" where people are not allowed to play loud music between 20:00 - 00:00 at night. There were a few "party rooms" that went a bit too far in terms of the noise level in the late evening. The latter policy would create a more relaxing environment, however, beyond that I was thoroughly impressed with the facility!
