The hotel pool was the real star, especially during these hot summer days. With a lovely setup for families with a smaller pool for the little kids. A nice pool bar offering some meals and cocktails. The staff overall were super friendly and helpful. Rooms were kept clean and the morning breakfast offered a good variety.

The location is not ideal if you looking to explore the older parts of the city on foot. But perfectly fine if you coming by train and need a few days to relax by the pool or at the spa. The dinner prices for some meals at the restaurant are a bit higher than expected.

Spacious bathroom with a window, nice view, good pool and bar, good breakfast and restaurant, spacious parking although narrow exit/entrance to it. Close to center but not walking distance.

Carpets in the room did not look clean. There were absolutely no plugs in the room to connect phones, tablets, this was actually a dislike as it is unheard of nowadays. I didn't like, but it's not a deal breaker, that even when the room had an awesome view it could not be enjoyed as the large windows were facing the sun all day long. Had to have blackout curtains drawn the entire day. Something to avert the direct sun light like an awning over the balcony could be a good idea.

Nice and quiet. Easy parking outside. Lovely view of the river. Once again, the pool was wonderful -- clean, no chlorine, perfect water temperature, ample lounges + sun umbrellas. Excellent breakfast with plenty of options. Upgraded room was a pleasure with small table and chairs on balcony. Comfortable bed. Very good water pressure. 50-minute spa massage was very good.

At the pool, would have been nicer to be given 2 towels per person and have free filtered water available. Bed pillows a bit strong/hard: wish for 1-2 softer bed pillows. In the bathroom, wish there were more bathroom amenities (e.g., body lotion).

modern hotel on the outskirts of Coimbra. The surroundings are somewhat bare and unappealing but a good 15 min walk takes you to the historic center of town. the hotel offers parking for a reasonable fee. the pool is large and offers entertainment for children

very crowded overall as large groups of tourists are brought by pullman to the hotel. the facilities handle the volumes well but breakfast and pool experiences are unavoidably affected

Nice hotel conveniently located for sightseeing in COIMBRA. Nice pool area with pool bar. Spacious comfortable room and very good breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Underground parking or parking on street.

No complaints about the hotel. Unfortunately and not the fault of the hotel our hire car left overnight in the underground car park was deliberately scratched.

Clean, spacious rooms. Helpful, polite, hard-working staff. The breakfast was fantastic - tasty, plentiful and a huge variety. The pool was great. My (adult) son had his birthday while we were there...and a complimentary bottle of wine and birthday cake was left in his room - a lovely surprise and very much appreciated. Good location for bus station and an easy walk into Coimbra.

The decor was a little gloomy (lots of dark brown) in places - perhaps it could do with updating. However, that is purely cosmetic and it did not adversely affect our stay.

A great sized room with a large balcony, breakfast was excellent and all the staff were friendly and helpful.

We paid extra to have a room with a pool/river view and a balcony, however, although we had a good sized balcony, we couldn't use it as there wasn't any balcony furniture. I raised this point on the hotels own 'satisfaction survey/review which they sent me, and I haven't had the courtesy of a reply!

The experience was great! It was our first time in Coimbra (2 hour drive from Braga) and we weren't sure where a "perfect" location would be but Vila Gale turned out to be perfect. Just a mere 8-10 min pleasant walk to downtown and quick 4 min drive to the Coimbra Forum (shopping center) and the famous Portugal dos Pequenitos (not to be missed!). We got a family suite and it was quite large and clean. Breakfast buffet was quite varied and well stocked. We also got lunch from the bar and ate poolside. Pool was amazing - even though a bit chilly - but to be expected mid-April. Would definitely stay again.

Not the hotel's fault but the train rolls by in front of the hotel so you can't walk out directly to the boardwalk by the river at that location - you need to walk further down towards the city center to cross over. Not a deal breaker...

Hotel was modern and bright. Room was clean and spacious with a nice view. Very quiet. Liked the bathroom, shower and shampoo/conditioner provided Breakfast was great with a huge spread and selection for everyone. Staff was friendly and very accommodating. Nice location - walking distance to downtown

The AC wasn't able to cool the room so much but it was also a very hot day (40 degrees)

The pool is great, so is the spa area. The breakfast was good and complete. The balcony in the room is very spacious, with a great view. Overall, an amazing stay, definitely recommend

Our room was at the very end of a long corridor, so it took a while to get to the elevator. Wish it was closer. It would be nice if the outdoor pool was open until later, like 9:30 pm instead of 8 pm.
