Every single member of staff was exceptional. I encountered approx 7 members & they all conducted themselves exactly the same. Super happy and smiling. Nothing was 2 much hassle for any of them. The property itself is outstanding. Decorated neutral & tastefully. In such a way it would fit any1s taste. Then the bedrooms WOW ! They have a lot of traditional air to them with a superb mix modern. The queen bed was firm but extremely comfortable. Best sleep I’ve had in a hotel Room & ensuite were immaculate. HUGE bathtub & 2 shower heads. There is an empty mini fridge so if you want to bring milk or snack you can. There is a large TV. Cupboard I ordered a full Scottish breakfast, it’s the 1st time I’ve ever had a cooked breakfast with every item boiling hot . Not even at home. And I highly recommend it. I’ve never seen such care taken over a hotel breakfast in my life . My room had a wee balcony with a table & 2 chairs. (Room 1) the room was massive . The actual building is breathtaking. So beautiful. I also saw the function suite , looked set up for a wedding. It was absolutely stunning. There’s a restaurant on the ground floor 2. Outside there’s a huge grass area with a lot of table & chairs.Along with a Bar area. Called The Pod. It was winter and snowing but I can imagine in the summer it would be mobbed. The hotel seems to be the heart of the community. All this wonderful stuff aside . The staff truly make the experience at The Craigie Hotel 10/10. I’ve never experienced any place not just hotel where every single member of staff (probably despite working 12 hour shifts) were ALWAYS, happy, cheery, kind , considerate, friendly people. I made several unadvertised special requests and not once was it an issue. I wasn’t made to feel like a pest. They couldn’t help you fast enough. Literally the nicest ppl in the world. I wish every single one of them a wonderful life. This was a last minute booking and something I’d not usually book.

Our stay at this hotel in Edinburgh was truly incredible. From the moment we arrived, everything felt refined and welcoming. It had that perfect luxury feel—elegant but comfortable, stylish without trying too hard. The space itself was huge. There were way more beds than we needed, which somehow made it even better. It felt generous, like every detail was designed to give guests more than they expect. Whether you’re traveling with a group or just want extra room to relax, it’s exactly what you’d hope for. The breakfast? Absolutely phenomenal. Fresh, beautifully prepared, and full of variety—easily one of the best hotel breakfasts we’ve ever had. It was the kind of meal you look forward to every morning. Everything we needed was included, and the staff made the whole experience feel effortless. The location was also spot-on—central, convenient, and surrounded by the character and charm of Edinburgh. This wasn’t just a place to stay—it was an experience we’ll remember. I’d go back in a second.

Loved it all

The food is exceptional and the service was respectful and professional. Portions and presentations were spot on. I was happy that the room and private bathroom had good working heaters since my stay was in November. The hotel is exceptionally clean and beautifully decorated for the upcoming holidays. Plenty of parking and a bus stop just around the corner to the hotel. Also within walking distance to town center. I would stay again but recommend bringing aqua shoes for showers and baths.

Stepping into the shower/bath was a bit problematic. The rise into the tub is quite high (over 26 inches) and the tub is slick and deep making it an adventure to step down for shortlegged people like me and bathmats were not provided.

Stayed for 3 nights from Saturday to Monday in April. Room 2 is beautiful Overlooking the front garden, lovely sash windows and great shower (very large, great pressure and nice and hot). Evening meals and breakfast where amazing, great food and extremely good value. Great atmosphere on Saturday night with locals. Amazing location with great access to Edinburgh on the local bus service.

Room 2 is a tad on the smaller side including a std double. As a larger gent this meant my bag and i took up a lot of the space in the room.

Personally location is excellent for my work & if you are visiting Edinburgh or the Borders. Staff in the restaurant excellent. Room clean & comfortable. Breakfast excellent staff excellent!

I stayed for work, on departure at reception my bill was double the price booked. After the receptionist corrected this I requested a receipt by email, she said she could not do this at that moment so I left a business card for her to forward an email receipt when possible. (required to claim back my expenses back from the contractor I work for). This never happened so I contacted them again & unfortunately I have never received anything. I don't know if they unable to do it or just cant be bothered, so unfortunately I am out of pocket & I wont stay there again because of a simple electronic receipt!

Lovely hotel in nice sitting. Loved the beer garden with big screen to watch the Olympics. Nice rooms with huge bed and great showerroom. Loved the late breakfast times until 12 noon which is very unusual. I liked breakfast made to order - all fresh, no waste and you could order as much and as often as you liked. Better than any buffet! Late checkout at 11am was also much appreciated. During the day we took the bus to Edinburgh- plenty busses to choose from going straight past the hotel.

Very minor - sink in room 11 sat too high - was awkward. Beer garden orders through an App which was inconvenient

Our stay was perfect! The hotel was cute and cosy. There was a nearby bus stop that was a 2-minute walk from the hotel. The hotel staff were super friendly and hospitable. The room was clean and cute. The room was super sound-proof and also light-proof thanks to the good darkening window curtains. There was a bathtub and the water pressure was great. The included breakfast was also such a great deal. Breakfast was from 6am to 12pm, and you could order anything on the menu. The breakfast portion was huge, so oftentimes we skipped lunch. The food was delicious too. Basically nothing to complain about. What a great stay!

The location is one hour away from Edinburgh. There are 2 Lothian buses you can take all the way to and fro Edinburgh city center but they are often late. This is the only negative point

Everything! The staff were excellent, professional, polite, and friendly. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and in good decorative order throughout. We were in a king room, which was definitely good value for money. The food was exceptional! A huge shout out to the chef/s ....we were not disappointed once and enjoyed every meal. The cocktail menu is extensive and reasonably priced. The outdoor areas equally well equipped with seating areas and an outdoor bar with a large screen for sporting events, which was not at all intrusive to the rest of the hotel. The layout of the hotel has been well planned for a relaxing experience. Also, there is plenty of parking on site. The location was good for exploring the local area, with a park & ride service a short distance away and convenient for accessing the centre of Edinburgh. We would highly recommend The Craigie Hotel and look forward to a return visit the next time we are in this area.

We honestly can't think of any negative feedback.

It was a lovely, well decorated and attractive hotel. The room was extremely comfortable. Comfortable beds, good sized tv with a range of channels and apps, tea making facilities, towels, fridge, room service, working radiator. Excellent, large shower beautifully decorated bathroom, with heated mirrors to clear the steam. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious!

As a listed building it didn’t have lifts. So it was very awkward carrying heavy cases and bags up and down stairs. When they cleaned they didn’t remove the plates from the room and they took the toilet paper and didn’t replace it. I’m sure just an oversight - but generally an excellent option for just outside of Edinburgh.

Rooms were lovely and comfortable. Very clean and suitable amenities within the room. Bathroom was lovely and very good shower. Breakfast was huge and lots of options. Available alternatives if you couldn’t make breakfast. Staff were very helpful throughout the stay.

One of my friend’s bookings went missing but this could have been an issue with the booking agent. Staff tried their best but there were no other available rooms. We had to make do with what we had.
