Staying at the Cartron House was the icing on the cake of a wonderful stay in Ireland. Tim and Ann were the epitome of what you would expect of gracious, welcoming Irish hosts - and so much more. From the first day they made me feel as if I were an old friend. They were very responsive to texts literally getting back to me in minutes. The grounds were lovely, the room was spacious and clean and the Nature trail was a very nice touch. The breakfast was amazing. But the best part was the welcoming nature of the hosts.

Ann and her husband were very friendly and welcoming. There’s a very informal atmosphere. It’s more like a small hotel than a B & B. The breakfast was excellent each morning, especially the blackcurrant ps with yogurt! The house itself is clean and comfortable. Also, the nature walk around the perimeter of the property is very pleasant, especially early in the morning. Ann recommend Walsh’s pub/restaurant in nearby Woodford as a place to eat. It was wonderful and the food was delicious.

There was nothing that I didn’t like.

Nestled in a picturesque countryside setting, the main house is just beautiful. There is ample free parking. The host exudes warmth and attentiveness, ensuring a memorable stay. The rooms are immaculate, with meticulous attention to detail evident at every turn. Crisp, pristine bed linens await, accompanied by the indulgence of a luxurious waterfall shower, complete with a thoughtful diffuser attachment catering to curly hair needs which I being curly haired have never had anywhere before and I always forget mine. Each room boasts tea and coffee making facilities, while breakfast presents an array of options too numerous to list. My breakfast included creamy porridge adorned with fresh berries, flawlessly cooked eggs, and top-tier sausages. You could hear a pin drop all night.

The fact I only got to stay one night I didn’t want to leave,

Ann was a very accommodating host. We made a late booking, unfortunately our Sat nav decided to take us completely out of our way. Luckily Ann gave us directions and provided soup and sandwiches as nowhere nearby was still serving food. Breakfast was massive and very tasty. Great selection of food available. Ann was very friendly and we would have stayed another night if Cartron House had not been fully booked. Everything was great, and we would definitely stay here again if in the area. Lovely setting.

Nothing

Absolutely loved our 5 night stay here. The breakfast choices were fabulous and they were cooked wonderfully well, with great choices for cereal as well as toast, croissants etc. Ann was a fantastic host with great ideas for places to visit and to eat and so welcoming and friendly. We left feeling that we were family and not paying guests 🥰

There was nothing we didn’t like, we loved staying here and can’t wait to return back one day.

We travel with our two dogs, which is not always easy, but Ann made us feel completely welcome and at ease and was more than accommodating in every way possible. The property is beautiful, the accommodation is comfortable and the breakfast is more than generous as well as delicious. Would definitely recommend Cartron House as a place to stay.

The fact that we had to leave!

Beautiful location in the country, lovely views and lovely quiet surroundings. Room was spacious and clean, and the property had a great atmosphere to it. Last but certainly not least, Anna was a great host and very accommodating to anything needed. Great person and wish her, her husband and family all the best🙏

Only thing to mention was that the location, is about 15mins to the nearest shop and the roads are fairly narrow and twisty. But if you plan ahead there shouldn't be a problem. It's about 50mins from Galway city of which 20mins is again farm road driving, so if you're not a fan of that kind of roads, it will be your only gripe. Luckily for me, I love those types of roads and it added character to the whole trip.

Lovely big room, very comfortable beds ,and a fantastic setting, with a 1.2 k circular path to excise the dog , followed by a very good breakfast Ann and her husband made us feel very welcome

If I had to find fault, the toilet seat could do with a new one 🤔 bit hay

Lovely house, clean but slightly dated room, friendly proprietor. Nearby pub is great.

I would just note that if you’re there in winter, once the radiator cuts off overnight, the room temp drops fast … so I’d recommend checking the schedule of the radiator with the host and planning your bedtime accordingly.

The house and gardens were well maintained and it was a nice place to relax, especially the walk around the back fields. Pet friendly accommodation was great. Breakfast was fantastic (lots of choice).

The house is located in a very remote part of Ireland and isn’t close to many big towns but this suited us.
