All the staff at this resort were so friendly, accommodating and always available for anything we needed. I have never seen a dining room as well organized as the breakfast buffet at this resort. Most efficient by all the workers and managers. A table was never sitting with dirty dishes for more than a few moments and then it was cleaned and ready for the next customers. Fantastic staff. The hotel grounds are beautiful , the rooms are very plain but adequate and the beds clean and comfortable. Location is great because the Free bus that takes you to Apulia and Esposende stops there so you can visit either of those cities. The town of Fao is within walking distance and has a nice riverside boardwalk and some very nice restaurants. The hotel pool is huge and if you like the beach better, it is just steps away.

We enjoyed everything about this resort and especially all the very hard workers , from reception, to the waitstaff and management. The beach is super fun for watching beginning surfers and on green flag days you can swim in the ocean. Wonderful beach.

Hotel setting was lovely, very green and natural, lots of seating areas with plenty of shade. Pool was pretty with (mostly) plenty of sun loungers with umbrellas. Don't think the hotel pictures do the pool justice. Direct access to the beach. Breakfast buffet was well stocked with lots of choice.

Strange pillows - almost inflatable, they would slowly deflate when leant against. Bathrooms weren't super luxurious, felt a bit tired. But all clean and perfectly serviceable. No kettle in room. Evening meal options not very exciting and restaurants around the hotel are variable, some are pretty dire although seem nice from the outside.

Lovely experience staying with my 11-year-old. We enjoyed the clean pool and the lounging area around it, the free tennis courts and rackets/balls, closeness to the beach, view of the sea from our room, breakfast and dinner overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in the hotel restaurant, helpful friendly staff, lovely massage in the spa. It's not a 5-star hotel, it's not brand-new, but it's been refurbished and is really nice and good value. Comfortable room and beds with fridge and safe in the room. The hotel is the heart of a quiet resort beside the sea with just the hotel, some surf schools, some restaurants - not too much else - which forced us to relax! Just 30 mins (about €65) north of Porto / Porto airport by taxi. Most guests seemed to be from Portugal / Spain.

The positives: people are nice and polite. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is very good. The hotel surroundings are indeed very nice. Bathroom is very spacious but the bedroom is a bit narrow and overcrowded with furniture. Not much space to move freely. Wardrobes are huge. I would had prefer smaller wardroe and smaller bathroom with more room in the bedroom itself. Kitchen is listed in their website but there is none in the hotel rooms. (maybe the hotel have apartments with kitchen? I do not know). It is not in their website, but It would have been nice to have a kettle in the room with some coffee and tea to start the day.

Great location, right next to the beach. Nice pools, playground for children and two tennis courts. Very friendly staff. Hugo from the front desk was an absolute star, he went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. Good breakfast with a beautiful sea view. We went to Ofir to Kitesurf but unfortunately there was no wind during that weekend but we managed to do lots of other activities. The hotel can offer information about other sports/activities. They offered kids activities during the weekend. Free parking, a huge plus in the area!

Although it’s been recently renovated, the exterior of the hotel looks a bit dated (not a fan of the colour used) which was disappointing at a first sight. One side of the hotel is older than the other and the rooms reflect this.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. My room was comfortable and spacious. The view from my room of the ocean was amazing. After a long day of Camino walking, this was a great place to relax for the evening.

The hotel was advertised as being in Esposende, but isn't. I was walking the Camino de Santiago and walked with new-found friends, into Esponsende, only to have to take a cab BACK to Ofir. I think the advertising should not represent that the hotel is in Esponsende, which is past Ofir.

The hotel is on the beach, which is great! The pool area was also good with quite some space and a lot of sunbeds. As well as tennis court etc. The exterior of the hotel could do with a refresh - even just a bit of paint would raise the aspect of the hotel a lot. And the rooms are ok size, however a bit oldish (the bathrooms seem pretty new). For the price we paid, I'd say everything is absolutely correct. Everyone was super helpful and kind (reception and staff in general).

The exterior of the hotel (especially from the back) is very old looking - and could do with a refresh (it is a shame to be so close to the beach and look up at an old beton-looking building).

We stayed at Axis Ofir Beach Resort on the second night of our Portuguese Coastal Camino walk. It was a very long day, but getting to a beach sounded like a reward. The hotel is well maintained, with beautiful grounds, nice rooms, and a good bar. Front desk staff were welcoming.

The hotel was further away from the Camino trail than we had hoped. The pool was lovely and clean but too cold on the day we were there. Wish it had been heated.

Axis Ofir Hotel – A Camino Gem After a long day on the Camino, the Axis Ofir Hotel in Esposende was an absolute delight. The staff were friendly and attentive, the rooms were cosy and comfortable (just what tired legs needed!), and the location is stunning. The food was delicious, a real treat after a day’s walk. Highly recommended – would return in a heartbeat!
