We stayed here for five nights. Booked for three nights and then for another additional two. The apartment is marvelous. Location is right on the harbour and it is lovely walking around village and countryside. Everything you need is in the spacious apartment. And except for the taps in bathroom and kitchen which didn't provide warm water (the shower was okay, though), and the plates which were not suitable for use in the microwave all in all it felt like home from home. We hope to be able to come back some day. Parking free of charge right in front of the apartment.

No warm water supply from the taps, but it was not really a big thing.

This overnight was a quick stop for us as we got in after dark and left early the next morning. Our accommodation was an apartment across the street from the restaurant. It was very comfortable. The people were very friendly at check in and when we had any questions. The apartment was a nice, large space, a little dated but comfortable. Parking was right next to the building in the square. The bathroom was well lighted and had plenty of storage area for our personal products. There was a washing machine in the unit, but no electric dryer. They did provide a drying rack and had space heaters. Overall, it was a great value and stay!

One of the best locations I have stayed at! The village is breathtaking and the locals were very friendly. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. A visit to the Sands of St Cyrus is highly recommended, especially for a dog walk.

Although our room was a bit small and "tired", this was to be expected in such an old building and it was reflected in the price. Evening meals are not served on Mondays and Tuesdays, which is when we stayed. I had already noticed this online when I booked, so was able to ensure that we ate elsewhere.

The Anchor is set in a very pretty fishing village, and, when it serves food, you will never eat better, or fresher, sea food. A friend eats there quite often. Unfortunately for me, I arrived on a Tuesday and the hotel has stopped serving food on Mondays and Tuesdays. I had to leave very early on the Wednesday so I can’t comment on the breakfast. My room was fine although the shower cubicle was a bit small for me and the bed creaked a bit. However, I was warm and comfortable and slept well. The toilet area was quite small but not unusually so for such properties. The wi fi was very good, indeed much better than a far more expensive hotel I stayed in the night before. The huge plus for me, and it was unexpected, the bar served cask beer which was kept to an exceptional standard. The prices are very reasonable and the room rate is very good. I will certainly stay there again. The staff were very thoughtful, helpful and friendly. I was allowed to check in early at no extra cost. A rarity in this day and age

New toilet furniture and taps. A non creaky bed

The main reason for our stay was the food! But the fishing village is also very pretty and worth a visit. Food was delicious, and very reasonably priced but the bonus surprise was the breakfast !! Fantastic, tasty and lots to eat we didn’t expect this at all but just what you need to start the day would totally recommend the sausages and black Pudding ☺️. Room was a bit on the small side but it is an old building, more importantly it was warm and clean with a comfy bed. The staff were great and a total credit to the hotel. They were friendly attentive and lovely.

The room was a bit small but as we only slept in it, it was fine.

The Anchor Inn is a really special place. I have stayed at hotels all over the UK and Europe and have never had a more enjoyable experience. The staff, other guests and local people were all friendly and welcoming. It has an atmosphere as soon as you walk through the door that this place is magical. The food was superb and given that I stayed on a Wednesday night it was very busy with people dining which gives an indication of how the reputation is merited. I strongly advise and recommend a visit. You will not be disappointed.

Nothing.

The room is located above a pub, which is open until late. But Monday night was quiet 🙂 The rooms are small, but the beds are very comfortable. Excellent English breakfast, there is also an offer for vegetarians. The cook is responsive and very hospitable. The village is very interesting, they are engaged in crab fishing here.

The bar toilet is on the stairs to the apartments. You should close the door there 😉 but the apartment part smells good.

The food was fabulous, if a little pricy. We enjoyed dinner in the first-floor restaurant so much that we returned the following day for lunch (this time in the bar). Our room (No 4) was compact - with a double bed, hangers on a rail, window sill with tea tray, and a small shelf for a kettle. The shower room had a tiny cloakroom wash-hand basin - too small to fit the kettle under the tap. However, this is first and foremost a thriving and popular village pub … with a few rooms. We liked the village and the food, and the room was really good value for money (and ideal for an overnight stay).

Cramped room - although great value for money.

It was wonderful to stay here! We arrived later than we first expected and after contacting the hotel it was no problem. When we arrived we were assisted very quickly and brought to our wonderful cozy apartment. It had everything we needed and the atmosphere was great. The kitchen was about to close but cook was willing to stay longer so that we could still enjoy a very tasty warm meal in the evening. We would definitely recommend the hotel to others and we would love to come back some time! Many thanks to the lovely personnel!
