This hotel in well situated, and with very comfortable and clean rooms. It's also quite cozy - somehow they've cracked the code of finding the right temperature.

When I arrived to the hotel, there was absolutely no staff around. I rang the bell four or five times, and called the main hotel number twice. It was on the second call, after I had been waiting in the empty reception area between 10-15 minutes that someone finally emerged. I had arrived earlier than I thought I would, so I understand if they weren't immediately there, but I was left waiting for a long time.

The food was excellent, especially the breakfast and the excellent service offered by Susie. Nothing was too much trouble and all our requests were met in full. The staff in general were very pleasant and there was a really nice atmosphere in the hotel.

The hotel is old with everything that goes with that. The single rooms were small, some very small, but they served their purpose and everything you needed was there. My only suggestion would be some hooks in the bathrooms and a towel rail in room 18!

Single room accommodation available. I was on cycling trip to Aberdeen - I had made prior request for secure cycle storage which hotel provided in 'function room' . ( I would recommend making such a request when booking as I was not sure the storage would have been available if the function room had been in use.) Reception were friendly and efficient as were staff in bar/restaurant for evening meal and breakfast which was straightforward but very good , the menu including Arbroath Smokie which I enjoyed!

The staff were super friendly, included full hot breakfast was plentiful, fresh and could tailor to your needs. Free private car parking. They treated our dog like a queen with free snacks on arrival and doggy blanket!

The hotel itself was great. However the bar over the road was rather rowdy till early hours.(Fri/sat) And the corner room (2) we were in was opposite this. With the summer sunshine the room was very warm and even with very high quality blackout curtains didn't help keep the heat out. Luckily there was a breeze and was able to open a couple of windows. Just not in the bathroom as it was painted shut so was stifling during the day. Again these are minor things and the noise is not something the hotel can control, just something to bear in mind if you're a light sleeper or early to bed! We would definitely stay here again.

The staff all did tremendously well. The hotel is a little old but it has character. The staff made the difference. We arrived on 2 bicycles and from the very beginning were handled exceptionally well. Nothing was any bother and as a result we decided to eat in the restaurant, which was good value and good food. Again very good service. Particular mention to Eamonn who was very professional and went out of his way to make a difference. The other staff too - everyone seemed to know how important it is to look after customers. A real joy to see a hotel trying this hard - bravo.

Just a little old in places, but I'd rather this and keep the fab standard of service. This is in the centre of town after all.

The location was excellent with very useful nearby private parking. The veggie breakfast was particularly good as was the evening meal - a huge selection from the menu. The room was spacious, warm and comfortable and there was a large shower. Spotless throughout. Friendly, welcoming staff.

All very minor things - not enough to prevent me returning! The central light in the bedroom was very dull - difficult to read by. There was no lift so 2 floors up was a bit of a struggle. I've never been in a hotel or B&B which didn't have towel rails - this was a first for me! The bin hadn't been emptied from the previous guest which was unpleasant. And there was a lot of noise from a bar on the opposite side of the road - which stopped at midnight thankfully (and was of course completely outwith the remit of the hotel). Also, the waitress serving me in the evening didn't ask if I wanted a dessert or coffee so missed out on a bit more income.

Booked the wrong year for my stay,Lol so turned up a year early for my stay, but the hotel staff were amazing, sorting it out for me ,the George hotel is an old place, but recently repainted and decorated, spotlessly clean and the staff were friendly and attentive, nothing was to much trouble, breakfast was amazing and the waitress was lovely, will be back, and I'll be double checking the dates next time Lol

Great location. The included breakfast is fantastic! Freshly cooked with a lot of choices for a fully cooked meal. Service by Susan is second to none. Susan was friendly, efficient and very professional, she is a big asset to the George Hotel.

My husband and I had no problem climbing the 59 steps to our room but it may be something to keep in mind prior to booking as there is no lift/elevator in the hotel.

The hotel sits just off the main drag in Montrose. It is an older building, so the structure is in keeping with its age. The room to which I was allocated was plain but well-appointed. The in-room facilities were standard and fresh. The room was very clean, and the toilet/shower room was equally clean, with toiletries provided. The bed was comfortable and fresh. The breakfast is good plain fare, speedily, pleasantly served, and heartily received. I will stay here again.

Location was spot on close to high St, Beach and Station. Hotel was lovely, All the staff were went out of there way to help, from receptionist to bar staff and staff in breakfast room. Cleaners were pleasant and did a really good job. I had mobility issues, and the receptionist couldn’t have been more helpful and got our room moved for us. Food as out of this world,everything was fresh and the portions were enormous. Enjoyed every minute here. Would go back in a heartbeat.
