The welcome from the staff when we first walked in was fantastic - made to feel very welcome. Room was a great size with everything you could need - only negative for us was the bed size (this was potentially our fault as we are used to a super king size) bathroom and shower were great - busy times hot water isn't able to cope with demand. The bar was really nice with friendly staff and being able to chill on a lovely leather couch having a pint or 2 was great. Breakfast was fantastic - on the Sunday it was a buffet hot breakfast - great choice and quality - weekday was ordered breakfast just as nice and if I may say even better quality - loved it. Location was great for what we needed - nice wander around the town centre and have a few drinks in 'The Picture House' 15 min walk to the most amazing beach - only mornings I saw it but beautiful sunrises. Very close to the golf course - walking distance and the main reason why we were there was to attend a game at the Links Stadium - football ground.

I did mention it above this was most likely our problem but we are used to a super king sized bed so the double bed was the only down side to the stay - when booking if possible I would /will certainly look at the biggest bed available.

Loved this beautiful old hotel, the traditional decor really appealed to me. The inside of the building is very beautiful from its stained glass and sweeping staircase to the friendly & attentive staff in the evening, morning & at reception. Our meals, breakfast & dinner, were exceptional.

These are really small points for me, but things I noticed was mostly that the decor in my room was a little tired. Things like the curtain was slightly faded on one side from the light, the sealant in the bathroom a little less than pristine & the shower was a bit intermittent from hot to cold & without much pressure, and my pillow was a bit lumpy. But like I said, these weren't things to bother me as the room was clean & had a lovely feeling about it. I slept very well here on our business trip.

Wonderful stay at the Links Hotel! Beautiful building, short walk from train station. Friendly and welcoming staff, we met Anne Marie, Melody and Eileen, but everyone was lovely. Our room was beautiful, really big, immaculately clean, and we had a balcony overlooking the park. Excellent breakfast and evening meal, and there's a really nice little bar and daytime coffee shop which does lovely lunches. We saw Montrose Museum, the William Lamb Studio, the House of Dun, and the Caledonian steam train, and we will go back and see the RAF museum, beach and Montrose basin. Lovely old fashioned family hotel in the best sense of the word!

Room was spacious, generally clean (a couple of cobwebs on the ceiling/wall), bathroom clean (however, a little maintenance would make it even better - one of the handles on the bath is broken and has been for a while by the looks of it). It was very warm, so a fan would have been useful - although on request, one was immediately provided and delivered to our room. The only improvement I would suggest would be the provision of a small refrigerator. Breakfast was lovely (the Arbroath Smokie absolutely delicious) and nothing was too much trouble. All in all, The Links was probably the best accommodation in which we stayed throughout our tour. Thank you.

There wasn't anything we "disliked" - just a couple of improvements (as above) would make it even better.

The room was a lovely big size,nice and modern and very clean.The en-suite was beautiful clean and modern with a lovely bath as well.A very comfortable bed and good pillows.The room was quiet as well once windows were shut we couldn’t hear the seagulls . The staff were friendly.We had an amazing cooked breakfast beautifully cooked and so much I couldn’t sadly finish it all.Also a choice of continental if you prefer. We didn’t eat in the hotel in the evening as we had already made a booking elsewhere but if the breakfast was anything to go by I’m sure food would be wonderful. We had a walk to the beach in the evening as the hotel was only about 15 to 20 mins walk away.A stunning view from the easily accessible beach.

Could do with a fan in the room as it was so hot in the room because of very warm weather,hot even with window open,air con would be even better if this is possible but I understand this is maybe not needed as much in the normal Scottish climate,it has been a very hot few weeks.

So much to talk about. The hotel was beautiful and located centrally. Loads of parking and easy to find. We were able to visit friends nearby in Arbroath and local attractions. Train station nearby so didn’t have to drive everywhere. Clean comfortable room which was a large size and met all of our needs. The bed was extremely comfy and had loads of space. The restaurant was great and the meal was reasonably priced and great quality. The best part of the visit was the entire team. Friendly, customer focused and just an absolute pleasure. Irene and the team were FANTASTIC! Nothing was too much to ask for and they were all genuinely welcoming and made the stay so personal. A great stay for a weekend and we will definitely return to stay again in the future. Could not recommend this hotel enough, thank you Links Hotel for your hospitality.

Nothing, it was a great stay

Room was beautifully clean, spacious, bed was lovely, bathroom was very clean, very well laid out, tv was clean and a good sized screen. Layout of the hotel was very well thought out, although more than one accessible room should be offered, the one you had was booked for the duration of our stay. Over all the staff were lovely and professional, the cleaning ladies were phenomenal, the whole hotel was clean and fresh looking. A very nice stay in a lovely hotel, just look past the tired outdoor decor.

The outside of the property looked like it had been poorly maintained, paint was cracking and looked dirty. Breakfast was dry and tasted like it had sat for 2 hours under a hot plate. The waitress was rushed off her feet. The shower head was covered in limescale, all problems that could have been easily fixed. We didn’t stay in the restaurant for our evening meal as the prices were extortionate, and going by the quality of the breakfast, we decided to stay clear.

The friendly staff, from the minute we arrived early, Anne at reception couldn't do enough for us, nice upgrade on our room. It was spacious and quiet. The evening meal was excellent too and our servers were June and Helen, both so friendly and made sure we were OK. I can't recommend this hotel enough. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was also very nice, buffet service with an excellent choice ( except there was no black pudding ) my only gripe on what was an enjoyable stay.

We have no complaints about this hotel, none.

The staff were lovely, very friendly and very accommodating of our dogs. It made the stay much more relaxed. There was loads of hot water and our room was quiet, tucked away out of the way so we didn't need to worry about the dogs disturbing people. The car park made transport very convenient, not having to research in advance where to leave the car.

The water from the tap in the bathroom was brown initially but after some googling, it seems this can be normal for older buildings in this part of Scotland. We reran the bath after 15mins and it was fine the second time. Perhaps a card to explain this would be helpful, so you don't get a surprise?

Dog friendly, even a sausage for her breakfast too 😀. Very comfortable and room was lovely and big. Food was really nice too. Was perfect for us to have a weekend break and we will definitely be going back again. This was our second visit and had a great break, so big thank you to everyone for making our stay so good.

Nothing, it was just spot on for what we needed.
