The staff were absolutely fantastic. Very helpful and friendly and chatty. The complementary night cap drinks from " Auntie " after the football was a nice touch. Didn't have breakfast but had evening meals. The meals were excellent and well presented. The Sri Lanka curry was very tasty. Ample size room for a 2 night stay The shower area is a good size with a nice powerful shower. Comfortable bed Ample parking Good locality, 5 minutes walk to the football stadium.

Although there's secondary glazing in the room, there was a bit of noise from traffic in the main street. Although the bed was comfortable, the pillows could do with upgrading. I thought the drinks were a bit pricey ( I would expect to pay these prices in Edinburgh), although the wine servings were pretty ample.

Behind its dark exterior however there was nothing bad to say about the hotel. The staff were friendly and very helpful and could have done more to make even the shortest stay a pleasure. Food was good and the room was clean and comfortable.

Although I had stayed at the hotel before it has been some years and arriving at night the hotel was hard to find particularly the car park due to a lack of bright signage and would benefit from some bright lights and signage.

Friendly owner and staff and looks well maintained and welcoming inside. The room was also clean and comfortable.

Only slight quibble was the pillows (which seemed to be feather down style,) while initially comfortable weren't very supportive. I did note a spare pillow in the cupboard and I probably could have gone and asked for a different one had I been staying longer but it wasn't practical for one night by the time I realised.

We have stayed before and were pleased to see the same persoonel were in post. They are first class and the hotel's greatest asset. We decided to stay in-house for our evening meal and it was tasty and generally good value.

We did observe a couples of generally minor items needing action in the bathroom i.e Loo roll holder required, glasses required. In addition, the first of the two curtains at the windows was badly torn and really needs to be replaced.

The family run hotel was very handy for our visit to Brechin. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. The restaurant food was excellent and reasonably priced, and our room (102) was spacious, well appointed, and extremely comfortable.

A very minor point, but the bar didn’t stock my favourite beers (IPA’s or Pale Ales), so even in cans or bottles would have been nice. But it didn’t spoil or affect our very enjoyable stay at the Northern Hotel 😉

3 star property with 5 star service.. Family run hotel.. warm, welcoming family who looked after me very well. Couldn’t have wished for more. Loved the Sri Lankan curry.. home made deliciousness

Nothing negative to say. After few DIY jobs … shower head descale but overall a comfortable, clean and well equipped room.

Just off main road to Aberdeen,hotel car parking available. Very hospitable staff had an excellent evening meal (carrot and orange soup followed by Sri Lankan curry)

Hotel bit dated,en suite very good

very central location.. lovely big room. large comfortable bed , also sofa bed.. friendly helpful owners /staff... a short walk to large park. next to the Cathedral. very interesting .. also local museum nearby. worth a wee visit.... breakfast was good too,

a bit dated decor wise etc. but over all good. was reasonably priced for our 2 nights with breakfast... and bit disappointed with my food on second night. as ordered the chicken goujon starter (was excellent on first night.) but ordered again second night was not great at all. the batter was so different. thick pale & chipper style. ?? nothing like the previous night. (i probably could have queried it . maybe someone different prepared it .) but i let it go....

Friendly staff that took an interest in you having a good stay. The food was excellent and freshly made using local produce. Parking was good and of the street. The location was good as in the town centre and good for a long or short walks around the town.

The location, parking, accommodation and meals were all very good. However, as usual, what made this place stand out for us was the friendliness of the staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Would certainly recommend the hotel to family and friends.

As mentioned above the staff made the stay for us. From the Manger to the bar staff all were first class and we really felt at home. The evening meal and breakfast were both very tasty and the former was reasonably priced by today's standards with the later being included in the room rate.
