Exceptional choice! It couldn't be better for visiting both the wonderful medieval city of Ghent, and for day trips by train to Bruges or Brussels. The location of the hotel is perfect, a few minutes walk from the train station, for trains or trams. There are direct trains to Brussels Zaventem Airport. You can easily walk (10 minutes) to the MSK (Museum of Fine Arts Ghent), which is absolutely extraordinary, with countless old Flemish paintings by famous painters), then SMAK - Museum of Contemporary Art, but also the Botanical Garden. The Cathedrals and other gorgeous medieval Gothic tourist attractions in the center are easily reached by tram. The train station can be reached either under the railway footbridge, or directly, behind the train station. The hotel is located in a special, luxurious, gorgeous, quiet and very safe area, which is an area of residential villas, of great elegance. There are at least two minimarkets close by, between the hotel and the train station. The hotel itself is superb. Everything denotes refinement, discretion, peace, security. Everything is to the highest standards. Everything is intelligently thought out, functional, relaxing. It has a wonderful lounge area to relax. There are two buildings. My room with balcony was in the smaller building, on the 1st floor. Fabulous, huge room, the balcony is actually an incredible, unique, huge private terrace, facing the inner courtyard, overlooking the elegant villas beyond the green garden. Absolute quiet. Impeccable cleanliness, discretion, excellent facilities with everything you could want. Free coffee and tea non-stop from Foodcorner, but also delicacies for a fee. Check-in and check-out fast and easy. The reception staff members are very kind, professional, efficient, polite, with a smile on their faces. In reality it is a four-star hotel! Thank you!

We chose this hotel as it is an easy walk from the train station. They were very flexible with the check-in when we arrived early as the room was ready, which was very much appreciated. Hotel is very clean, modern-looking with tasteful décor etc. Staff were very friendly & helpful. Buffet breakfast was very nice, although a bit pricey at E18 per person per day. It’s a bit of a trek to the main historic centre, and although there is a tram from the train station, we chose to walk it daily (around 35 mins each way). We joined a walking tour, which was an informative way to see the central area of Gent.

Not sure if we missed a trick, but the static sink plug seemed designed to only retain water for a matter of seconds, which was annoying for a wet shave or wash.

Beautiful quiet spa room. There was a nice view from one window. Lots of space and well decorated. We had our old dog with us, so it was great that we were in a room on the ground floor. There were lots of green areas nearby to walk him. The honesty system was great so that we did not need to disturb the staff when we wanted something to eat or drink. Friendly staff.

The other view from our window was of the garages where the staff would collect things throughout the day. The breakfast was tasty and well presented but the portion sizes and options were very small considering the €18 cost.

Breakfast initially seemed expensive but was very worthwhile . Most items were homemade and delicious. The cold , still or sparkling water on tap was much appreciated especially in 36’ heat ! The bedroom fan was incredibly quiet and effective too. Comfy bed and pristine en-suite and peaceful room overnight despite the proximity to the train line . Parking was worth the cost as the trams and buses into the city centre were frequent. Staff were very helpful and welcoming . Beautiful garden to sit in too .

I visited CfgMgmtCamp so I needed a place close to HoGent and the train station. The location is perfect, I was afraid the trains would be noisy but they were not interfering with my sleep at all - there is absolutely no vibrations from the trains. The mix of the real stones in the concrete in the bathroom floor worked surprisingly very well, great idea!

The bed was super soft on one side and I am used to really hard macerates, thankfully second half was more stiff. On arrival the room was cold but it was back to normal after tuning up the heating to a normal level over one night.

The kind and helpful staff is a joy to arrive; and the small garden is a peaceful area to read or enjoy a coffee. And the honesty bar, with home made dishes too, is a great plus. The gym is basic but a pleasant addition.

The room in contrast to the size of the bed is not aligned. Practical setup; but overall small. And when you’re noise sensitive it’s advisable to choose the garden view room. The street side and the placement of the hotel right next to the train line can become disturbing during the evening, night or early morning.

Much better than expected for a 3 star hotel.. This Is a family run hotel and I appreciated their attention to detail, their anticipation of guests' needs. The breakfast choice was varied and many offerings were homemade - jam, yoghurt, kefir, cakes. I also appreciated the food corner - homemade meals to heat in the microwave and enjoy in the dining room, conservatory or, on warm days, in the garden. For tired solo travellers, the option of a home cooked meal without having to go out was a relief. The hotel provided useful local information and public transport tickets and maps. The hotel is an easy flat walk to the railway station, being parallel to the railway tracks. But even if your room looks on to the road and rail, you do not hear any trains or traffic. The hotel is also an easy walk to Citadel Park and two art galleries.

Super friendly receptionist, good rooms, very cute hang out/breakfast area. There is garden as well, but it was a bit too cold for a proper visit. If you are hungry, there is food (Spagetti, lasagna) in Tupperware in common area that you could buy and heat up, as well as chilled drinks. Breakfast was great, plenty of choices, many home made things (jogurt, jam)! Hotel is next to train tracks, but if window is closed, you don't hear anything.

Location is a bit far from city centre. There is plenty of street parking around hotel, which might end up cheaper than yard parking of 12 eur at hotel.

Booked here for convenience to station and because of number of good reviews and wasn't disappointed. Family run hotel in more residential area. Our room was large with little enclosed outspace ( hotel also has nice garden and terrace), spa bath and useful fridge. Good breakfast and 'food corner' with honesty box with homemade meals to be microwaved by customer if needed. Initial receptionist on check-in was very friendly and helpful

We wanted to go on day trips by train and this was easy to do from hotel -about 10 minute walk from station-but having to do this walk to get the tram into centre not as convenient. Also surprised how expensive the restaurants near the hotel and station were when centre ones cheaper (know this not fault of Astoria). Had breakfast 1st day and good with home made items but served only to 9am and we wanted more relaxing start to our other days.

The hotel staff were accommodating. I had an oversight that check-in was only until 20:00 and we were arriving later than that. I called the hotel few hours before we arrived and still, the hotel staff I talked to was kind enough to take care of everything before our arrival. The hotel is really near the main train station and bus stations.

Just that the restaurants are quite far but anyway, it is still well connected to public transportation.
