The hotel was a lovely overnight stay and would be great for a city break weekend in Gent. The property is ideally located for the city centre only a 15 minute walk. The room was clean and well appointed for our family stay. Communication with the hotel was great and they explained early in the booking process that parking could be reserved at the hotel but spaces are limited. I booked straight away and our space was ready for the time we were told. With the two children, this helped massively. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Not the fault of the hotel - more advice for anyone intending to drive into the city- take care that you check route plans in case of road closures and unidentified road diversions. We had real trouble getting over to the hotel.

The room was very nice. Very clean. Very nice location with easy access to the highlights of Ghent. The young woman at the front desk was very warm and welcoming. She gave us some excellent recommendations for sites and eateries. She is a real asset to this hotel! We also liked the book that was provided in the room with recommendations. This was a really nice touch. We dined at a very good restaurant- Cafe Rene- which was a 2 minute walk from the hotel. Very nice food and service. Make a reservation, as it’s a popular. We travel by bicycle and we were able to park the bicycles in the courtyard.

The person upstairs was very noisy beginning at 6am. This was not the hotels fault, but a rather inconsiderate guest with no regard for other guests.

The location was perfect, walking distance to the city center. The building is very nice and (part of) the room is comfortable, there are only some inconveniences (see what we did not like in other section). Still, I think I would stay in this hotel again. Staff was helpful and polite

We were 4 people, and the room is divided in 2 : one side was very comfortable, beds were great, but the other side was a bit less: beds were not as comfortable, there was no lamp next to the beds. Also they provide coffee capsules only for one day. We understand this is courtesy of the hotel, but I think it would be nice when they do it for each day of the say.

Great location, beautiful building in excellent condition. The staff were really informative, and friendly. Parking on site was secure and really welcomed.

Two small issues which would not stop me from staying but should be mentioned. The mattress was very soft and slopped, quite a common feature in hotels (frustrating) that don’t consider people sit up in beds at the pillow end and thus squash the mattress…..means your head is lower than your feet. Also, the extraction fan in the bathroom ran constantly all night, no way of turning it off.

It was beautiful, gorgeously decorated. Beautiful old quirky building, shame there isn’t a lift but I feel it would ruin the vibe of the place anyway. Little Irish pub in the courtyard. Wasn’t noisy. And there was great heating. Gorgeous bath in the room and plants. Bed was comfy and we could use Netflix. Definitely would stay again!

The parking in the courtyard is very small and tight, and other parking was far away. But to be expected in an old quirky town with cobbled roads. They when above and beyond to assist us in our needs and we are very grateful. It was nice knowing the car was safe.

We were taking a short break in Ghent and the Hotel Onderbergen is very well located in the city centre, This meant that we were able to walk to most of the places we wished to visit. The bed was comfortable and the room quiet. All staff that we came into contact with were friendly and helpful. Despite the dislikes below, we would stay again.

Parking was one of my search criteria but the Onderbergen can only accommodate a few cars and I had already booked when I was informed that all spaces were already reserved. Underground public parking is availanle about 4-5 minutes walk away. On arrival (mid-December) the room was very cold. I turned the radiator on while we were exploring the city but, on our return, found the room too hot. We would have got it right on a longer stay but we were only there for one night.

The Hotel is located just minutes away from the beautiful Old Town. Within 5 minutes you can reach a dozens cafés and most of the attractions. There was a nice and secure parking spot when we arrived, which you can book beforehand. The staff was extraordinary friendly, helped with luggage and did everything to make us feel comfortable. Even when we booked last-minute breakfast they made it possible to get a table. Since we last stayed here (propably 2021) the Hotel did major upgrades, inlcuding new paint on the walls and way larger breakfast. The room itself is large and quiet, so you easily can sleep with an open window, even on the weekend. The room was very clean, had a coffee machine, a hairdryer and super comfortable bed. The bathroom is way bigger than in most other hotel rooms and even included a baththub AND a shower seperately. The breakfast now is generous for the price and inlcudes cheese, ham, marmelade, bread, bacon, eggs, fresh orange juice, coffee and much more. We loved it.

This has been the best hotel on our trip so far. We had a triple room which was on the ground floor near reception. The location was quite central and easy to get around the city. WiFi worked well for video meetings. Beds were comfortable. Shower was hot. Room was beautiful. And the woman who checked us in gave us all kinds of tips about where to go, what to see, what to eat and more. She was absolutely lovely!

The only oddity is, we were in a triple room, with 3 individual beds, but the bathroom door had a center pane of frosted glass that was not 100% opaque. Odd choice in my book.

Excellent boutique hotel in a fantastic location - we could walk everywhere easily. Good room size and large bathroom. Beds comfortable. We were on the top floor which has spiral stairs, no issue for us. The lady who checked us in was so friendly and helpful; we used a lot of the Hotel's recommendations in terms of Restaurants, Pubs etc. Lovely short stay. I would definitely recommend! (Didn't chose to add breakfast so can't comment but the pub next door is nice!)

Room was pretty hot, due to summer weather. A ceiling fan or air-con would be ideal, but there was a small portable fan provided which helped slightly.

Very lovely old building in the centre of Ghent, easy to walk to the attractions. Very friendly and helpful lady who checked us. Parking on site which we could reserve. Lovely sized room and bathroom, very clean. Nice to have a coffee maker in the room.

All very good, the only thing I would mention is that the parking is a little tight if there are other vehicles. But this is very minor, overall we had a very good stay. I should also mention the staircases are steep and no lift, but again this didn't worry us, and given the age of the hotel to be expected. The staff do offer to help with bags. Not a dislike, just might be helpful to mention it.
