A very good standard of hotel and excellent location. We stayed here for a long weekend with our dog. It was everything we were expecting and more, we definitely would stay again next time we are down that way. A very well run and clean standard hotel, nothing fancy, no frills, and excellent. Car parking behind the hotel. Our room was nice and clean, very warm, bed was comfortable, towels and bed linen good. Breakfast, full English was available and freshly cooked to order, coffee was good. Staff were friendly and very efficient the dining room runs like a well oiled machine, well done! Reception staff were efficient and helpful. All in all an excellent hotel and stay. There are a number of restaurants on the high street for evening meals, we particularly liked The Forage as they allowed dogs in and the food was excellent. An ideal spot to explore the New Forest and coast.

On entering this hotel, it was spotlessly clean, spacious and welcoming. the receptionist was pleasant and helpful, he carried my heavy bag up the quite steep staircase to my room! The room was great for one but would have been a bit of a squeeze for two! it was clean and tidy with all that was needed for my four night stay. The bed was comfy and the pillows were fluffy! The bathroom was small but adequate and the shower was the most powerful I have ever encountered. The hotel does not serve dinner however there are loads of places to eat very close by. The breakfast was excellent, beautifully cooked using local produce and the staff were friendly. The only thing that was a bit weak was the tea however if I had asked for another bag it would have been willingly given ! (my own fault!). I was there for cycling and I had to put my bike in the laundry room, which was fine for me but a pain for the staff who had to keep moving it !!! so not really ideal for everyone! The car park was big and easy to get to and park. The hotel is off the high street so is relatively quiet. Lyndhurst is always very busy and traffic can be a drag at times!! All in all I would highly recommend the Penny Farthing Hotel ....

Lovely room with the bonus of a second small room with desk, chair, wardrobe and window between the bedroom and bathroom. All clean and modern. Great location, a couple of minutes walk into the main high street. A short drive to several amazing walking and birdwatching spots. Staff always available and helpful.

Bathroom was let down by a couple of obvious but easily rectified niggles. A new shower hose and head and new washbasin taps would be a great improvement and would bring the bathroom closer to the standards of the other 2 rooms. Wifi disconnected every time I was in the room and only reconnected when I reached reception. Not a huge problem for me but could be for some.

Such friendly and accommodating staff! I was made to feel very welcome. The hotel accommodation was exceptionally clean and spotless. Every detail was so well thought out, from the check-in experience to the decor. Penny Farthing feels like a much-loved project, with rooms named in-keeping with the bicycle theme. Great value for money and the tastiest hotel breakfast I have ever, ever had! Full compliments to the chefs and waiting staff. I have stayed in other (more expensive) establishments in Lyndhurst, but the Penny Farthing is an absolute gem! I will be returning again very soon.

Everything was what I expected and more. The only slight improvement would be the supply of earplugs for rooms situated at the front of the hotel as it is situated on the main road into Lyndhurst and traffic continues until quite late at night and resumes early in the morning. But this is a very minor detail when weighed against the many pluses. I almost feel a little nit-picky I’m saying it.

The apartment (3 Beds) we had was lovely, Comfy and very clean bedrooms, the kitchen was small but had all the facilities for a basic requirments, Large fridge, microwave cooker. washing machine. they supplied washing up liquid The lounge had enough comfy chairs and heating was radiators. Free parking. Short walk (3 minutes) to the main street full of Cafes, Pub and Shops The town and the accomodation were lovely istorical buildings as you would expect for the area.

Always a warm welcome, and I love how clean the room is. I rated the hotel exceptional and facilities excellent, as this reflects the economical value for money for this hotel. The hotel doesn't have a spa and all the facilities of a 5* hotel, but that is not what I chose. I needed a clean, comfortable hotel when visiting family in the New Forest, and will keep returning and highly recommend. The breakfast is excellent and served by friendly, helpful staff. All the staff are helpful. The location is truly exceptional! Just a short walk to the village High Street of beautiful Lyndhurst.

I stayed here with my son and dog. We had a triple room which was very clean and spacious, as was the bathroom. A cooked breakfast every morning and even for our dog Max who had a sausage for each morning!! Staff here are so friendly and it was lovely to find a hotel that is so dog friendly. A great location to explore the New Forest. Plenty of places to eat and drink in Lyndhurst and all within walking distance.

Everything was great and we will return.

The bed was most uncomfortable could do with different mattress as very hard and could feel the base, so the sleep was not very good but would still stay again.

Very good value hotel, in a great location. Good base for exploring the New Forest, and just a short walk from pubs and restaurants nearby. The bed was comfy, and the shower was hot. Staff were very pleasant, and the cooked breakfast was lovely. We enjoyed our stay.

We had a room next to the fire door, so that was a bit noisy at night, but that's just pot luck. No toilet roll holder, just holes in the wall... No major issues, as this is a very good value for money hotel. This was our second stay, and we would definitely stay again.

Very friendly and helpful staff, especially during the excellent breakfast which was cooked to perfection. Everyone stopped to greet my dog - this is a very dog friendly hotel, including providing a sausage for them at breakfast. Much appreciated!

My room was very small for one plus dog. Also on a very busy road. But neither of these things detracted from a great stay, would happily come back.
