I wanted a relaxing few days away and that’s exactly what I got, the hotel was in a little fishing town with beautiful views of the harbour, our room looked out over the harbour, when we arrived we had no problems finding a free parking space beside the hotel and the receptionist was very welcoming, our room was very clean and the beds very comfortable, there was tea and coffee , ironing board and iron and a trouser press, a hairdryer and toiletries available also a safe and room serviced daily, the breakfast was to order and was delicious and the food in the restaurant exceeded our expectations and the staff were just lovely and always had time to speak with you, I would highly recommend The Tara hotel and I will definitely be back!

All the tables in the bar restaurant were always reserved. We sat at one that did not have a reserved sign and were going to be ordering food but were immediately told to move as the table was booked for a party of 4. We walked out and had a lovely meal elsewhere

There could have been more ramps for wheelchair users. Car parking was at times difficult. On Saturday night an overall supervisor woman with long blond hair destroyed the atmosphere . She stomped around with a very sour face and attitude. She needs to be more pleasant in my opinion

The waterfront location provided stunning views and the central location made it easy to walk anywhere in Killybegs. Also I enjoyed getting refreshments at the connecting bar/restaurant.

No free breakfast. Also only one bed in our room. The new carpet made me sneeze and also in the little tea breakfast area there was no plug for the electric tea kettle.

Check in and out was very easy with friendly staff. Room was spacious and I had a nice view of the harbor/marina. Attached to bar and restaurant which was convenient but we arrived too late to eat there and most local places were closed by 9pm so we only had one option of Chinese food take away. But location was good for a few pubs for drinks. Short but nice stay overall for a tired traveler- the bath was perfect after a long day!

I couldn’t find any adjustment in the room to control temperature. There appeared to be a heater but I couldn’t find anything for AC. It was comfortable until the morning when the sun came up and got very hot in the room. I had to open the door to cool off but then the traffic below was quite noisy. Not a huge deal since it was just one night.

Hotel is currently being renovated. I have been coming to stay at the Tara at least twice a year for 19 years. It has been tired for a number of years now but the hotel is being transformed with the current renovation and new owners. I stayed in a renovated room and I was very impressed.

Beautiful location lovely clean room

The receptionist on duty when we arrived didn't really welcome us or ask any information and she didn't even tell us how to get to our room. We weren't given any information about breakfast or the restaurant I just feel she could have been more friendly and welcoming

We really enjoyed our stay while visiting family. Rooms are recently remodeled and clean. Great restaurant in the hotel, which we ate at and gathered morning and night.

Pillows are stiff, and if you leave your balcony door open, it can smell like fish.

There’s renovation work being carried out at the hotel, but this is well stated on there page. It didn’t cause us any disruption during our weekend stay. Our room looks to have been recently done, it was fresh, clean and comfortable. All staff extremely friendly.

Great room, spacious; decent bathroom and beautiful views of the harbour, quiet with great black out curtains to block the bright harbour lights Excellent restaurant downstairs with friendly, professional and super helpful.

Nothing to dislike really.
