The staff at Palazzo Bifora went out of their way to ensure my stay was perfect. To coming out into the maze of mdina to help me locate their hotel, allowing early check-in and just being friendly and welcoming made the start of my holiday experience wonderful and stress free. A classy, well loved hotel with special welcome gifts, a big bowl of fruit and a delicious bottle of wine, added to their appeal as the front runners of 5 star accommodation in Mdina. A truly unique hotel.

Leaving..as one night is not enough to fully appreciate this luxury hotel.

We had a wonderful two-night stay at Palazzo Bifora right after our wedding day, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. From the moment we arrived, Priscila greeted us warmly and was always happy to assist with anything we needed. She surprised us with a complimentary room upgrade, and we stayed in the Murina room, which was spotless, beautifully maintained, and incredibly comfortable. The heating worked flawlessly, including the bathroom tiles which had underfloor heating! The entire experience was excellent, with the staff going above and beyond to make our stay special. Highly recommended!

Something to keep in mind if you’re an older couple: whilst the hotel isn’t in the middle of nowhere, it is in an area where cars cannot enter, even taxis, so you’ll have a short 2 minute walk with your luggage in order to make it to the hotel from the closest drop off point.

Right from the booking process I felt this was going to be something special as you could choose you pillow and mattress from a good selection. This made the sleeping experience the best I have ever had in a hotel. The staff were very friendly and we had a slight problem with the minibar on the first night but once we reported it the problem was resolved very quickly and everyone was so apologetic. The location was great to see Mdina at different times of the day. It lived upto its name of the silent city at night. The terrace was OK with some nice views from the far side of it but the general view was just rooftops. Breakfast was nice but limited in choice.

Some of the layout in the room was awkward especially the bathroom but it didn't detract from the pleasure of staying. The motion sensor for the bathroom light kept going off during the night. We had no view from our room only a stone wall about 1.5 metres away but we were in the middle of a citadel!

The location was perfect for a romantic getaway, secluded from the bustle of Valletta. The MDina is steeped in history and walking the paths that many have before was very atmospheric. The Palazzo Bifora was a perfect getaway for a few nights adult time without children. The boutique hotel was immaculate with attention to detail at every point. Staff were wonderful, happy and helpful with ordering taxis and making recommendations on where to visit. The roof top bar and plunge pool were welcome areas to chill out and enjoy a late afternoon cocktail. Our first time to Malta and certainly will be coming again. Staff went above and beyond to make our anniversary and birthday treat memorable.

There is nothing we did not like.

This hotel deserves all the reviews I had read, I was in the King Suite on the ground floor off the covered atrium / foyer. The room had a great stone vaulted ceiling and the bathroom was impressive. While the upper floor rooms my be bigger or even glitzier with windows that look at the walls acoss the alley, I think my room encompassed the history of Mdina. The service from arrival to departure was great, they let me have the room early and the hotel is easy to find only a short walk from either the the main Mdina gate where buses and taxies drop off or from the Greek gate where you can park a car (little bit of up hill). Mdina is worth at least a night, seeing and hearing the silent city when the day tourist traffic have gone is refreshing compared to Valletta, you seem to have the place to yourself. The breakfast on the roof was fine, but don't expect magic views, other than other roofs as most surrounding buildings are the same height, but it is still a nice place to turn off and have a drink. When you want to visit Rabat next door head out the Greek gate which takes you onto Triq San Pawl and to the Catacombs which are worth a look and in addition there is a bus stop near the roundabout back to Valletta (5 series buses) for a fraction of the cost of a taxi.

In the Booking.com discription of the King Suite in said 'This suite's standout feature is the rooftop pool' I think it should read the 'This hotel's' because I didn't see any accommodation off the roof level and my suite was on the ground floor. The use of a lot of smart light switching in the room can be annoying as some lights fade out and you think you pushed the wrong switch. The only issue in the stay was the light in the bar fridge would not turn off as the door switch was broken so I hug a bath towel over the fridge door to block the light.

The staff, location, and building were exceptional. I was greeted with a "please have a seat in the cafe while we prepare your check in" and a glass of cold Kinnie, which was amazing. The cafe area, when not busy, is a lovely place to relax, as is the roof deck with pool. The front desk, reception, and restaurant staff were all so lovely and friendly! Omar the owner and Omar in the restaurant, as well as Ena at the front desk. The building is incredible and absolutely beautiful. Extremely quiet and peaceful - just delightful. There were even macarons in my room when I checked in and truffles later in the evening.

I would stay there again if I was in Mdina, but I would get a different room. The Maria room is VERY small and a tight squeeze with a decent sized bag. I think two people with luggage would have a hard time managing here. Not too bad for a solo traveler for 2 nights, but a longer stay would mean a lot of logistics with the luggage, unpacking at all, etc.

Amazing location, and very cozy hotel. Absolutely loved the quiet, peaceful vibes on mdina although it is a tiny city, its the perfect place to rest your head at night and go for small walks. My FAVORITE thing about this lovely hotel was the lovely staff, all of them, especially Ana Mae at reception that greeted us with a warm smile, gave us tips and recommendations on where to go and what to do and went above and beyond her job and did extensive research for us when we told her we couldnt book the tour we wanted. Thank you Ana Mae and the rest of the staff!

it did take some time to figure out the water temperature in the shower!

It was a real privilege to stay in one of only two hotels in the heart of the ancient walled city of Medina. Especially since the owners have spared no expense on the project of restoring and converting their original palazzo into a first class boutique hotel. Everything is done in excellent taste and of the highest quality. There is even a plunge pool ( with waterfall!) on the roof terrace. The staff are all most welcoming and friendly; the room service included creating a baby elephant or a swan using folded towels, flowers and petals sitting on our bed when we returned to our room. Everything produced by the kitchen is very high quality

Frankly, the breakfast arrangements seemed unnecessarily complicated and so slow. Why not include a continental breakfast in the room rate, and offer cooked breakfasts for a supplement?

The owners omar and sandra are such pleasant hosts. Omar gave us the hotel tour and a bit of history, too. The hotel is very clean and well maintained, breakfast was delicious and they serve quickly. Beds were comfy, toiletries were above satisfactory and they give you free drinking water, all you have to do is ask! The macarons were a nice surprise and even a nicer surprise were the 2 truffle chocolates and a hand signed letter 🙏 we appreciate the small things. 100% recomending this place

Nothing, its perfect

We loved the Palazzo. They took extra special care of us and we would absolutely stay there again. Ivan was marvellous - helpful, solicitous and a genuinely lovely chap with incomparable recommendations and knowledge of Malta. We met Omar and his wife - the owners - and their passion for the hotel was palpable. The facilities are spot on - the suite was perfect, little additions like chocolates and macarons and a notable display for my birthday celebrations, well received, and the location perfect. Anyone wanting to spend a few nights in Mdina/Rabat would benefit hugely from a stay in the Palazzo.

The shower in the bathroom didn't drain well so the bathroom floor became wet but this was a minor niggle and I'm sure easily fixed.
