Prime position in Russell! Loved Portia the cat who visited! Loved the pool & spa and the unit as a whole! Other guests were friendly, which was nice. The position was definitely 10 out of 10. Lovely Cafes and restaurants within 2 minutes walk. Overall we loved our 1st time in Russell!

The decor could certainly do with a spruce up! The noise from Motel next doors Air Conditioning kept my partner awake and he can generally sleep anywhere LOL We did wonder why they supplied ear plugs 🤣😅🤣 Not ideal if you are a light sleeper. When we arrived the bedroom sliding door to little outdoor area was open. Our room when we arrived smelt like someone had been smoking inside but it was the lady in the next room and with only lattice between, the smoke was going straight into our room. I guess for $350 a night we had high expectations.

The location and facilities were great. The rooms were clean and spacious. It was great to be provided with loungers around the pool along with pool towels seperate from the normal bathroom towels. There were also a few extra's provided in the bathroom that were unexpected like makeup removal sheets.

No Air conditioning, so I had two sleepless nights because it was so hot. The place seemed to attract a lot of middle aged to retired people which makes AC even more important with hot flushes on top of the heat. There were fans provided but they just circulated the hot air. The pool could also have been cleaner and we didn't see anyone attending the spa, so we didn't use it. There was shampoo and body wash provided but no conditioner.

We usually use a different hotel when in Russell, however this year due to lack of availability we used The Commodores Lodge for the first time. The Commodores Lodge is very central in Russell with bars and restaurants nearby. We were very impressed with the room and the facilities, the room was very clean with good facilities. Rowena was very helpful and went out of her way to help us. The pool in the courtyard looked very inviting, though we didn't use it.

Our room backed onto the Duke of Marlborough bar/hotel, there was a loud extractor fan or compressor that seemed to be running 24/7. This might be a nuisance to many people, however we live in west London near to Heathrow Airport, the M4, M3 and M25 motorways and are therefore used to 24/7 background noise so we weren't too bothered by it.

It’s just such a lovely property. We’ve stayed here several times over the years. The rooms are very clean, in good condition, and spacious. I love the pool and spa. And of course walking out either entrance onto the main township or the seaside restaurant quarter is amazing. I also love the jog or walk over to the sandy beach and up the hill to the Flagstaff for the lush bush and then panoramic views. The staff are so pleasant and helpful - they go above and beyond for their customers.

We had a wonderful stay over the NY period. Our room was perfectly located for the afternoon sun (room 11) and despite the heavy wind that swept through Russell, we were lucky to be so sheltered from it while relaxing pool side most of the time. Convenient to all restaurants, shops and a well stoked four square. Rooms were very clean and equipped with everything. We look forward to coming back.

Great location right on Russell waterfront. There are picnic tables reserved for Lodge residents just above the beach with a fabulous view. We enjoyed eating a picnic dinner out there one evening. Simply fabulous. While there is a pool we didn't use it as the Lodge is only a few steps away from the beach and preferred to swim in the sea. We did warm up in the spa pool after one swim which was very nice. Well appointed kitchen to do breakfast, lunch and simple dinners. The hostess was very helpful with all our requests.

Ohh it is hard to find too much wrong. Being picky the second bedroom in our unit is dark as it has a very small window so not much natural light. I can't think of anything else but have to write more to fill out this form!

The motel was in the perfect spot to enjoy Russell waterfront with cafes, restaurants, waterfront walks and amazing sunsets. The motel was very nicely decorated with most amenities availble. The motel's amenities were of a high quality. The staff and owner were very friendly and it felt like a home away from home. Highly recommended and will return in the future.

The location is great and the room itself very comfortable and well equipped

The next door rooms both held smokers who felt it was ok to smoke on the rear patio area even though it connected with our room. As non smokers we found the smell objectionable.

Location was perfect - in the heart of Russell with a view over the jetty and bay. The little covered seating area, equipped with outdoor furniture was a great place to unwind and watch the sunset over Paihia. Bentley and Porsche, the local felines, called by each evening to say hello and were delightful. Pool, spa pool and laundry were some of the amenities on offer. We extended our stay by an extra night - three in total. Would recommend and definitely would stay again.

The location is right in the heart of Russell. Our unit was perfect, with a comfortable seating space, dining table, and kitchen. A separate bedroom is always a plus. A big bonus was that we also had an outdoor table and chairs, overlooking the salt water pool and spa.
