Amazing location, just 5 minutes walk from the bus terminal and the ferry terminal. The living room and kitchen have a beautiful view over the bay. Overall the place felt very safe.

The rooms are very small and hot (some rooms left their doors constantly opened to get some air.) You cannot seat up on the lower bunk bed or you bang your head constantly. The place was fairly clean although it could have been better (and the toilets ran out of toilet paper.) The staff was not as helpful as hoped when I came to ask about tours and activities in the area.

The location was prime, though it was a bit difficult out to find the entrance as the hostel and reception aren’t on the ground floor. But it was on the waterfront and smack in the middle of a bunch of restaurants and shops with easy access to the ferry system.

Photos or guidance on finding the entrance to the hostel should be added to the description, it’s in an alley-ish corridor and then you go through sliding doors and up two flights of stairs? I circled the block in question a few times before I figured it out.

This is the best hostel I've stayed at in New Zealand so far!!! The location was amazing. It is right in the centre of Paihia, surrounded by restaurants and shops. The lounge was my favourite. It overlooked the sea and was well decorated. It is a cosy place to unwind at the end of the day. The whole place was also exceptionally clean. Plus, when I visited, the all-female staff were super lovely and made a female solo traveller like me feel very comfortable indeed.

The room is small and can feel a bit stuffy. There are fans but it is still quite warm on the top bunk.

So clean Great facilities The view from the kitchen - absolutely stunning The staff were top notch (especially Scott) !! He always went the extra mile, nothing was ever too much hassle, and I loved how he helped organise socials with other travellers in the hostel. This is genuinely so appreciated when you’re travelling solo, it made meeting people so much easier and gave the hostel a really nice welcoming and community vibe - couldn’t recommend here any higher <3

The most incredible location. Best hostel location I’ve stayed at! Really liked the privacy curtain to make your time feel more private

Not as social as other hostels I’ve been to. People tended to keep to themselves. Also, the toilets were constantly out of toilet roll for the ladies. The rooms are really small which made it hard to unpack / get ready when the dorm was full.

Amazing view and common area!

Had a bit of a strange vibe- felt very individual rather than a social space. Small room - lockers under beds a bit clunky and no floor space to re-organise if a long term traveller / those with a big bag. Doors slam shut so could be noisy. No free parking and Paihia has time limits or expensive parking around.

Appreciated the friendly service provided by the staff. Traveling solo, unfamiliar to the area and only a few days to explore, the gentleman at reception had some good recommendations for a bush walk, dinner spot and some exploring on the ferry. Thank you

Did not appreciate the fact that I only booked for one night.

Great location , good kitchen and communal area. Showers and toilets were clean. Staff were friendly

No air con or windows in the bedroom. The heat in bedrooms was nearly unbearable. 2 fans were provided however only one fan worked and did not cool down the room. Staff could engage more with residents

Great position for a one night stay to do a Bay of Islands trip. Communal lounge and kitchen had spectacular views. Staff very helpful. Room basic but all you needed for a night's sleep. Useful laundry facilities available.

Nothing to dislike really, room was basic with only a very high window but was fine for sleeping in and the large lounge with Bay views was available if you needed it.

Genuinely the friendliest and most personable hostel staff that I have encountered in Aotearoa New Zealand so far! They also have the nicest view from the kitchen/lounge windows that I have seen so far. The hostel isn't very big and therefore has a calm atmosphere, no problems with noise.
