Wonderful location with a view looking over Paihia. Glorious to sit on the deck. BBQ available on side yard. Guest Laundry $4 per load. Quite compact but fully equipped kitchenette and bed are in the main room as you walk in. Second small single bedroom with a few hangers. Shampoo, body wash in shower. Hand soap. Market and shops as well as beach a short walk away. 1.5 km to Waitangi Treaty Grounds. Don’t miss it! Note; the entry drive and parking situation are quite tight. If you have a larger car or if you’re a timid driver be prepared to struggle a bit. There are 20 or more steps uphill to the cabin; not for the mobility impaired.

Very limited hot water.

The motel was in an excellent location being only a short walk to the I Site, main ferry wharf, shops and restaurants. The unit was very comfortable and clean with good cooking facilities - we used the BBQ on one day and that worked very well. We also used the laundry facilities twice and they were very good. As with many but not all units, there was not an extract fan, which would have been a benefit.

Wifi was very spotty and I was unable to rely on it for business internet calls. I had to use my phone's hotspot.

Great little motel, we had our own cabin with bedroom/ living area, bathroom, an extra smash bedroom (that we didn't use) and a little legate terrace. The shared bbq area is great also. Beautiful views from the room. Not waterfront, but walkable easily to the waterfront and to town. Cool, chilled place

Only thing to mention is there is quite a short but steep walk up to the cabins - not an issue for us but be aware if you are disabled or have lots of heavy luggage!!

Good location, nice views, privacy, clean and tidy, well equipped kitchenette, felt like our own little house on the hillside. Easy walk to Russel ferry, we took a morning sailing yacht cruise from there (Vigilant Cruises, small group boat, great crew, highly recommended!) and it was very convenient to be close by and leave the car at the motel.

Bed too small, a bit smaller than US queen size, but that seems to be a normal size for NZ, so that wasn't a surprise. No extra time at check out, and my sincere opinion is that checkout at 10 am is a bit too early for that particular property, and in this case leaving it to about 10:30 would be classier and more relaxing for guests. Also considering that the car is parked below and there are steep stairs to get to it, so loading multiple bags quickly is not that easy or fast. Hosts/staff (both lovely people) were pretty much coming in to clean as we were still rolling out our bags.

Not all the individual cabins have a view of the Bay of Islands. We stayed in one at the top of the hillside that did. It was quite a hike up the steps with a case but worth every one for the view and privacy. Ali, our host could not have been more helpful. We liked it so much, we felt ourselves blessed to be able to stay a further day, as it was available. The off street car parking was well organised and there was a washing room with simple to use clothes washers. Hurry up and book as it may not be available for ever, as all but three of the dozen or so individual cabins are for sale as separate units. It's a 5 minute walk down to the town, and the quayside for boat trips.

The thought that if the sales took place we might not be able to return.

The stand-alone cabin was quaint, something quite different, had all the facilities needed for self-catering. We used the barbecue and it was fine. Very nice gardens. Great view! Easy walk to a great hiking trail, the beaches and to the Russell ferry. We did a day outing to Russell and left the car at the cabin. The only thing to be aware of is that it is a steep climb to get to them, combination stairs and paths. Was slippery when wet, so care needed.

Lovely modern, very comfortable cabin/cottage with view across the valley.. Your own porch/veranda for alfresco coffee, bevy or eating.. Short walk to ferry and village cafe''s. The complete kitchenette and dining area meant we were able to experience living here, preparing wonderful meals with yummy local produce. We stayed 2 nights. More would be easy. There are steps up to a number of the cottages. Equivalent to 1 flight or 2 flights. No problem for our 50+ bodies. Just if you need to be aware. There are cabins at the car park level too.

This beautiful wood cabin overlooking the Bay of Islands exceeded my expectations. It was beautifully clean and well-appointed (with everything I needed) and in a few minutes walking distance of the shops and restaurants of Paihia. The best thing of all was the lovely wooden deck on the cabin, where I sat drinking wine and drinking in the exceptional views. Really a wonderful stay- and wish I could have stayed longer.

Really nothing of significance to write here, but (as so often) it would have been great to have hair conditioner provided alongside shampoo and body wash.

The unit (10) we stayed in was clean, comfortable and in excellent repair. It was quiet and private with a pleasant view out across the central part of Paihia.

Can't think of anything that would have improved the stay (except maybe staying longer). The Staff and Facilities section of this review page does not seem to be working in Chrome - clicking on an option apparently does nothing.

Ali was so helpfu and friendly. She picked me up at the busstop and organised my case so I didn't have to carry it upstairs. She showed me the key places to buy supplies and was always happy to chat. I loved watching the birds outside and there were great gardens and trees and comfortable places to sit outside the room.

There was nothing I didn't like.
