Why stay anywhere else? This is the PERFECT location and it has convenient parking. The host is magnificent. He was always available to chat and give recommendations. I so enjoyed staying here. It wasn't just a good place to stay it was part of my holiday. I really can't recommend this motel enough. If you are after a clean, conveniently located motel this is the place to be. There are other motels in the Bay of Islands that I saw as a I drove around but I don't know why you wouldn't want to be located directly in front of the beach with all the convenience that brings. This was a great find.

Would have liked a mirror about the basin to shave. That is the extent of my gripes.

The location is amazing. Right by the water and near the Main Street of restaurants. There is one main road in Paihia and there are restaurants all along and this accommodation is super close to everything. I had a rental car, but I walked to all of my meals because they were that close.

I wouldn't complain about anything but if I have to I would say that I thought that the shower was a little small but I did not need anything bigger. It did its job and was not a major issue. Definitely not enough room to shave your legs though...

Location was perfect. In the very center of Paihia, super close to everything, the sea is just across the road. The room was very nice, featuring a lounge with a sofa bed for the child, a kitchenette, bathroom, and a separate bedroom. Heaters in both rooms and the bathroom that warmed them up nicely. A simple, yet cozy accommodation. Can highly recommend.

Wi-fi setup was quite annoying. We were allowed several gigabytes of data for our 4 night stay. The remaining allowance was constantly getting smaller even when we had no devices connected. We could connect three devices max but at times it was only one or two allowed, so we were wondering if those gigabytes and number of devices was shared between several rooms.

Ala Moana Motel was in the perfect location. Close to all tourist activities, directly across from the beach and within walking distance to the town centre and all the good restaurants. We hade the sea view room and the view was amazing. The room has floor to ceiling windows right across the front of the room so you looked directly at the bay. That is a sea view. The property manager allowed us to leave our car at the motel for a couple of hours after check out which was so helpful. It allowed us to do a helicopter ride without worrying about parking.

There was nothing to dislike

The location of the room was amazing. John, the manager went above and beyond to give us a service second to none. We had the room at the back, next to the office that looks directly out over the water. It was a lovely view to wake up to. The stroll into town was easy and because it was winter we did not have to book.

The only draw back was the bathroom, at the back of the room had no windows. It was very old and dated and smelt a little mouldy and old. Otherwise, the value and location are second to none.

Right next to everything, shops, restaurants and the ferry. Super nice host helped get us tickets for 10% off on “The hole in the Rock”excursion. The place was a little dated but very comfy with soft beds. The price was good so it was a good value. I stayed end of April so the prices were better than summertime. I would stay there again.

No laundry, but laundry in town.

Walking distance to a miriad of restaurants and bars is wonderful.Went to Typsy Oyster for dinner. Food and music were excellent and is right next door to motel so no driving involved Wonderful beds and pillows

Chairs were too low to be able to eat and to be comfortable. Perhaps cushions being added to raise seated height for comfort and ability to eat would help

The location was excellent; easy walking distance to the pier and restaurants. Although smaller than some others, our room on the front of the building had a lovely view of the water and we spent many pleasant hours outside on the small patio. Room was well equipped and John, our host, was very friendly & helpful.

Room was a bit small, but the view was worth it.

Located in the heart of Paihia across the street from the beach, Ala Moana Motel is a fantastic place for travellers to stay in especially if they are travelling in a group. The staff were very friendly and were helpful in getting us settled in, as well as recommending us activities to do in the Bay of Islands. Despite it being our fourth visit, we had a wonderful time and this was enhanced by the accommodation.

Being close to the beach, the sea breeze was simply perfect however it would have been nice to have a heat pump instead of fans in the rooms.

It’s location right next to the water, very short, walk to town to the wharf, comfortable room with a view and a table to sit outside and have coffee watching the water. Very friendly and accommodating host. He was kind to give me a ride to Waitangi.

Next-door was a very popular bar and restaurant which was noisy at night. Fortunately, it didn’t go on all night!
