The property’s location is amazing and and within a short drive of Hexham and Corbridge staff so helpful and polite room was well presented and the shower facilities were perfect, dinner and breakfast was DELICIOUS 😋

We so badly wanted to give this place a 10 but the only two things I would say that stopped us was the radiator I had no idea how to turn it down or off was stuck on 18’c ended up opening the widow which when being in the ground floor I didn’t feel too comfortable doing also the beds for us in particular weren’t very comfy but once we were asleep we only woke a couple of times, also a double bed just isn’t big enough for us but again it’s personal preference and we’ll look to upgrade the room next time for a bigger bed

Room required a bit TLC. Painting decorating etc. Think it would put a lot of people off. Bar, restaurant and reception areas were brilliant. Lovely real fires comfy and relaxing. What made the place though was the staff. Every one of them were so polite, helpful and friendly. Real Northumberland folk!!. Breakfast was a buffet and absolutely outstanding for £10. Full English, toast, cereal, tea coffee, fruit and also made porridge to order. Definitely stay again. 5 Walk on Hadrians Wall. Superb. Once again a massive thanks to all the lovely staff. Company should reward them all.

Excellent food and a lovely room overlooking the garden and river.Much nicer hotel since we last stayed there.

Travelled with a pet dog which means you can't dine in the restaurant. No problem with this but no provision was made to reserve a table in the bar or Chester's even though dining time was booked at reception. You tended to be forgotten about with no place setting set up and plates not cleared away after eating between courses.Paying extra for the dog but service not as good as in the restaurant .The dining areas for dog owners tended to be very draughty due to doors being left open.

Look… It’s an old old building and an old hotel and that’s what I really love about staying at those kind of places. Charming and typical European. A bit Spartan, but that’s OK. The bed was so comfortable and the shower had great water pressure and nice and hot.

The bathroom was a little utilitarian… Very clean, but very Spartan But the water pressure was great and it was nice and hot and very clean so I’ll take it You just need more lighting in the room rooms… It was a little dim And please add a small refrigerator so people can keep drinks cold as there is no ice machine at all in most European hotels

Thank you to all the staff who were very friendly and helpful. The Breakfasts were very good, with plenty of fruits and cereals to choose from and the cooked breakfast was very good, and nice tasty bacon and sausage, poached eggs cooked just right! Evening Meals were excellent with a good choice on menu. I have allergies and they took great care when preparing my meal, Our room was fine, situated overlooking the garden and the River Tyne which was lovely, comfortable bed and nice and quiet, so slept well. I preferred to have a bath in the room, but we only had a shower, but we managed with that anyway. Overall very pleased with our stay and would stay here again. Shirley and Mike

The location by the river is great and the garden is well kept. Some of the benches could do with a clean-up though. The staff on reception and evening restaurant staff were very pleasant, obviously the breakfast crew didn't get the 'be happy' email. Restaurant food was of a high standard but the buffet breakfast does leave a lot to be desired as it was running out a bit and the 'waiter' responsible didn't seem to care. 15 mins for eggs is a long wait like 👎 Rooms were comfortable, and the towels were nice n fluffy. Cheapo toilet paper 🧻 tho. All in all a good place to stay 👍

Beds a bit to small

Staff were very kind and attentive. I accidentally hit my head in a branch hiking and needed to go to a doctor and the manager insisted on driving me all the way to Hexham for urgent care. It took a chunk of his time but he was concerned that I be able to get checked out and wanted to make my life easy, even though I could have taken a cab. In addition the staff at reception were very kind helping when I arrived bleeding and making sure I got the attention needed. All the staff at all times, including the restaurant and pub, were friendly and nice. And the location on the banks of the River Tyne with a lovely green overlooking it was excellent.

Location, food quality and friendly staff. We were worried as we had read bad reviews following our booking last year. We had even been told by a local to avoid the place. HOWEVER nothing could have been further from the truth. The welcome was excellent from a very helpful receptionist. The restaurant was as good excellent with a really good selection for food and drinks the serving staff were so friendly and helpful. It made it a lovely dinning experience and overall stay. Would highly recommend.

Room was nice and clean, but lacked a bath, but on reviewing our booking that is what the details said. So no complaints but would be be a good option going forward.

This is a beautiful hotel in a simply wonderful location. I found all the staff to be friendly and helpful. The reception and dining areas of the hotel are very appealing. My room was spacious, the bed comfortable and the shower warm. There was even tea and biscuits provided in the room - thanks!! I had two excellent evening meals in the restaurant. Breakfast - cereals, yoghurt, croissants and a full English cooked breakfast - was plentiful and very tasty. A perfect stop when hiking Hadrian's Wall. As a brief aside, I needed to catch the bus to Housesteads one morning - the bus stop is just opposite the hotel entrance and the receptionist was able to help me out with the bus timetable.
