The cave rooms are amazing!!! Better than expected. If you are willing to make the trek with your luggage (or pack light), the location is in a nice quiet place that has some great places to eat very close and easy walk to center. The room facilities were fantastic, the room is cool- the AC wasn’t even needed, everything was clean, comfortable and impressive.

The check-in could have been a bit more detailed about the properties facilities. Advertised there was a sun terrace which was never presented (or located). The cave rooms are a bit too dark for during the day and Wi-Fi was spotty (hard to work).

The cave atmosphere was unique and great to experience. The decor was very influenced by the cave location and interesting

We could only have one shower before running out of hot water. The room was designed for 4 persons. (1 king and 2 double beds). To not have enough hot water for multiple showers was very unfortunate. The fridge was very small (no freezer, even though there was an ice bucket in the room) and didn't keep drinks very cold. I realize the room was set in a cave, but the lighting wasn't adequate for my standards. Overall, it was an interesting place to stay but not worth the higher price we paid for this type of room.

The room was spectacular, very authentic, clean and cozy. They gifted us 2 bottles of delicious wine, water, juices, sodas, coffee, tea and more, all included with the booking price. The location is perfect, near to center, close by shops, restaurants, etc. We spent 12 days in Italy, we went to Rome, Naples, Amalfi coast, Bari, and Matera and this was our favorite stay by far

Even tho the location is super, trying to find the place was very difficult, according to locals there are streets that don't show in Google maps, so we were lost, we walk and walk, going up and down stairs, asking people and we could not find the place, thankfully the host went to rescue us and he was very kind and helpful

We absolutely loved our stay in the superior quadruple suite. It felt like we were stepping back in time but with all the modern luxuries. Our host was full of wonderful recommendations of where to eat. The jacuzzi was wonderful and offered a nice reprieve for sore legs after a long day of exploring Matera. The entrance to the property was one of the most beautiful entrances in all of the Sassi District in Matera. We also loved the open air courtyard.

Our only suggestion would be to coordinate with a luggage service to meet you at a cross-section or at the parking garage and take your luggage down and also back up again when you are done with your stay. It was very difficult getting our suitcases back up the cobblestone steps. Our host did meet us at the beginning and helped with my luggage to get down. We would’ve paid a service to help us with that. We had a gentleman in Cinque Terre and it made all the difference.

Fabulous cave experience. It felt authentic yet with some luxurious facilities & trimmings. The shower & bath were great. Super spacious, more than enough room for a family of 4. The kids loved it. Great location too, right in the centre of the Sassi. Free minibar was a bonus as it was so hot outside, but a more manageable temperate inside. Host gave us enough info prior to enable us to park as nearby as possible. Very clean & very comfortable. And quiet. We also took essentials for our stay in rucksacks, rather than taking our cases through the town (left cases in car).

Such a magical place to stay. They have done a nice job creating a relaxing environment. The shower is amazing! Lovely toiletries and drinks provided. Nicely located and the host I chatted with via message was really nice, although I wish the answers were a little more prompt.

It’s difficult to remove all the ‘sand’ from the room, but slippers are provided. I would have appreciated the greeter - Antonio - explaining the room to me, not my accompanying friend. Maybe it’s a culture thing, or a language thing…

Who would have thought a cave can be so authentically beautiful and comfortable! The room is large, spacious, quiet, very clean. The accommodation provides ample of towels, bathroom accessories, courtesy umbrellas, and plenty of pressure and hot water from the rain shower. We love the attention to details, the decor, and the ambient lighting effect.

We had 'no' dislikes. We loved everything about this boutique hotel ! So centrally located and close to the main piazza. We enjoyed the small patio area just outside our room. Also, nice copper touches and the basin in the washroom.

Wow! This was the best and most unique accomodation I’ve stayed in. From the bath in the middle of the room and the cave rain shower which was the best shower I have had. The towels were fluffy. The staff were great in collecting our luggage and taking it up to accomodation and taking down when we left. It wasn’t too high up in Maetra which made it easy.

No iron or long mirror and a bit dark. Needed more lighting.

Luxury in a cave! Everything was so clean and thanks to a powerful dehumidifier had no damp smells as some have mentioned about other cave hotels in Matera. All facilities were great. No regrets about staying here, an awesome experience.

There are some stairs to get to the property since it’s at the bottom of the Sassi but it was fine for us. If you have mobility issues you may find it harder. But it’s a cave! What else can you expect 😂

The room was perfect. Large size for a family of 4. Host was timely and even came looking for us when it appeared we couldn’t find the rental.

We would highly recommend this rental. Only thing is there are lots of stairs to get to it. That is the case with anywhere in the Sassi. We ended up leaving our large suitcases in the vehicle and taking only what we needed for 2 days. All worked out great.
