The Goldener Falke hotel is a small family run establishment located in the heart of Heidelberg Alt Stadt, on Markt Platz. The hotel occupies a wonderful old building that oozes charm and character. The staff are extremely hospitable and only too willing to welcome guests and make a stay at the Goldener Falke a memorable experience. The rooms are well appointed, clean, and furnished in keeping with the overall character of the hotel. Each morning Connie and her team serve up a superb breakfast with a range of fresh options including pastries, fresh fruit & yogurt, jams, cold meats, cheese and a selection of cereals. Not forgetting the boiled egg ‘bath’ and usual availability of tea and coffee. As for the location, the hotel is a short distance to the the Neckar river and the various river cruise options. It is just meters from the Heidelberger Bergbarn /funicular station that takes passengers to the top of nearby Konigstuhl for amazing views over the river and beyond, as well as the Schloss Heidelberg and countless hiking trails. Well worth a visit. We shall definitely be back, perhaps to visit the Christmas markets.

Don’t expect a room with air conditioning! This is an old hotel in Germany where hot humid summer nights are a rarity, so instead just open a window and settle down to a good night in a comfortable bed.

The staff was very friendly, location couldn't have been more perfect, and breakfast was fantastic!

The bed was a little hard and the blankets were very thick with no light sheets, so it got very hot in the night. There was no air conditioning, which is ok, but the windows open didn't have a screen, so many bugs came in with windows open.

The staff was OK. The size of the room very good. The location of the hotel was excellent. Located in the main town square. The view from our room (number 45) was more than excellent. We had an excellent view of the castle, especially when lit up a night! The hotel has a restaurant. A good bathroom with a very nice bathtub.

The breakfast was limited in choices. The room had a slanted ceiling with a beam that you had to be careful of when getting into bed.

Location was amazing for our Christmas Market trip! Aside from a few folks yelling in the square below after the markets closed for the evening, it was surprisingly quiet at night. The beds were very comfy and the space was very clean and really well appointed for a comfortable stay.

Check-in was a little unclear. The restaurant was closed when we arrived (and we didn't have cell phone service to call the number posted on the door), but luckily a nice gal was inside and noticed us struggling to figure it out, just outside the entrance door. Perhaps a bit more instruction for customers who are checking in when the restaurant is not open would be helpful.

The location was fabulous - literally right on the Market Square, with a view of the Holy Ghost Church and right at the start of the beautiful Hauptstraße, with lovely shops and street cafes. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and the breakfast buffet fantastic. A beautiful setting, comfy beds and a few minutes walk from the route up to the famous Csstle.

The bathroom was a bit small and you had to hold the shower head in your hand while showering, as the water pressure was really strong, but the shower head holder unsuited to the water strength.

The location is perfect, in the heart of the Altstadt, in the market square, opposite the church, near the castle and the Old Bridge! Very easy to find, very accessible, great breakfast and restaurant menu.

As I was staying for a week, the room could have been a little larger, with more space in the bathroom, coffee/tea making facilities, a mini bar and a room safe.

This is a wonderful hotel situated in the old town with views of the castle and a beautiful church on a central square Our room was beautiful with everything and more that you could possibly wish for with lots of little extras included The food was good, staff were very nice and friendly

The only little thing was no air conditioning. We were provided an electric fan which helped a little. It was very warm weather

The most impressive aspect is the friendly, helpful, and efficient staff. The second is the location, right at the centre of the old town. One can see the monumental Schloss Heidelberg, also really FEEL the flair of the city.

It would be better if there is a sitting area in the lobby so one can sit while waiting to meet friends, or just chill out for a while.

The location was perfect. Breakfast was good. There were meats, cheeses, breads, and pastries. They only had boiled eggs and no bacon or sausage. There was a coffee/cappuccino machine, water, orange juice and milk. The rooms were spacious but dated. It is a historical building so understandable. The restaurant had great german food.

My son's room had a slant to the floor and the bathroom vent was very dusty.

Outstanding location.Clean and comfortable room. Friendly staff..Superb breakfast. Had an elevator that was perfect for my 81 year old friend. We had a room with a view that was unparalleled. If I could give this Gasthaus a 12 I would .

Perhaps maps available in English. I do understand Why not. This hotel has guests from all over the world. 20 years ago when I visited Germany smartphones and the Internet were not as useful.
