The Goldener Falke hotel is a small family run establishment located in the heart of Heidelberg Alt Stadt, on Markt Platz. The hotel occupies a wonderful old building that oozes charm and character. The staff are extremely hospitable and only too willing to welcome guests and make a stay at the Goldener Falke a memorable experience. The rooms are well appointed, clean, and furnished in keeping with the overall character of the hotel. Each morning Connie and her team serve up a superb breakfast with a range of fresh options including pastries, fresh fruit & yogurt, jams, cold meats, cheese and a selection of cereals. Not forgetting the boiled egg ‘bath’ and usual availability of tea and coffee. As for the location, the hotel is a short distance to the the Neckar river and the various river cruise options. It is just meters from the Heidelberger Bergbarn /funicular station that takes passengers to the top of nearby Konigstuhl for amazing views over the river and beyond, as well as the Schloss Heidelberg and countless hiking trails. Well worth a visit. We shall definitely be back, perhaps to visit the Christmas markets.

Don’t expect a room with air conditioning! This is an old hotel in Germany where hot humid summer nights are a rarity, so instead just open a window and settle down to a good night in a comfortable bed.

The staff was very friendly, location couldn't have been more perfect, and breakfast was fantastic!

The bed was a little hard and the blankets were very thick with no light sheets, so it got very hot in the night. There was no air conditioning, which is ok, but the windows open didn't have a screen, so many bugs came in with windows open.

The location is OUTSTANDING! We had a beautiful view of the church square from our windows. This hotel is perfect for visiting Heidelberg. The breakfast was outstanding and the staff were so friendly and helpful! The rooms and beds were so comfortable. However, this hotel does not have air conditioning. It was unusually hot in Heidelberg during our stay. We did have fans in our rooms, though. And, it did cool down during the night. Overall, it was a fantastic stay! I would definitely stay here again!

It was a little hot in the rooms, especially on the 3rd floor. We requested rooms close or adjoining. Our teenage children were directly above us on the 3rd floor while our room was on the 2nd floor. It was not a huge deal as our children are older teenagers. However, this arrangement would not have worked out so well with younger children.

The staff was OK. The size of the room very good. The location of the hotel was excellent. Located in the main town square. The view from our room (number 45) was more than excellent. We had an excellent view of the castle, especially when lit up a night! The hotel has a restaurant. A good bathroom with a very nice bathtub.

The breakfast was limited in choices. The room had a slanted ceiling with a beam that you had to be careful of when getting into bed.

We were travelling by train through Germany, we had to catch a bus from the main Heidelberg train station, and then it was less than a 10 min walk from the bus stop. The room was very large and the bed comfortable. Our room over looked the main square in the old town area, and we were able to open the windows for a view and cool air. There is no air conditioning in the room and on our last night the hotel offered us a pedestal fan, as it was quite hot. The bathroom was quite small. Breakfast had the usual array of European selections.

We loved being right in the heart of charming Heidelberg. The location was perfect. Close to the bus stop, the train to the castle, and all of the shops and restaurants. Our room on the top floor had views of the castle and of the plaza below. We had nice amenities like coffee in the room. Very charming. Another family member had another room on a lower floor. No coffee in there, but nice spacious room with a view of the plaza. The restaurant was very good and it was nice that breakfast was included. We also had a very good dinner there.

Location was amazing for our Christmas Market trip! Aside from a few folks yelling in the square below after the markets closed for the evening, it was surprisingly quiet at night. The beds were very comfy and the space was very clean and really well appointed for a comfortable stay.

Check-in was a little unclear. The restaurant was closed when we arrived (and we didn't have cell phone service to call the number posted on the door), but luckily a nice gal was inside and noticed us struggling to figure it out, just outside the entrance door. Perhaps a bit more instruction for customers who are checking in when the restaurant is not open would be helpful.

The location is wonderful. Breakfast is provided. Parking garages are nearby. AC was in the rooms on the 4 th floor. Wonderful restaurant and option to sit outside in the Markplatz to eat. We loved the rooms that overlook the markplatz. Family suite and delux double on foith floor was perfect for one of our family units. The rest of our group was in triple rooms and the corner double room overlooking the markplatz!

If this is your first time to Europe, be aware that many “non chain “ hotels do not have AC . It’s just what it is.

The location was fabulous - literally right on the Market Square, with a view of the Holy Ghost Church and right at the start of the beautiful Hauptstraße, with lovely shops and street cafes. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and the breakfast buffet fantastic. A beautiful setting, comfy beds and a few minutes walk from the route up to the famous Csstle.

The bathroom was a bit small and you had to hold the shower head in your hand while showering, as the water pressure was really strong, but the shower head holder unsuited to the water strength.

The location is perfect, in the heart of the Altstadt, in the market square, opposite the church, near the castle and the Old Bridge! Very easy to find, very accessible, great breakfast and restaurant menu.

As I was staying for a week, the room could have been a little larger, with more space in the bathroom, coffee/tea making facilities, a mini bar and a room safe.
