The old house is amazing and our room (4) was beautiful and the bathroom was the size of a bedroom and spa like ! The house sits on top of a hill with expansive views over the city and toward the blue lake

The house doesn’t have a reception so organising to get the key requires a little patience. Our fault because we didn’t realise there is a time difference coming in from Victoria. Despite having 2 heaters running all night I was still cold. I winter weight feather down doona would have been very welcome and much better for the environment. Also the water basically stopped flowing for 30 minutes then returned as quickly as it ceased ????

An old restored Victorian mansion located in the heart of Mount Gambier, it was ideally positioned and luxuriously appointed in keeping with the period. Even though only 5 minutes walk to Commercial Street (the CBD), it was very quiet.

We stayed in the Black Room which is much smaller than the other suites. As a consequence, furniture was a bit tight. There was only one sitting chair in a room designed for two guests, but that was not a major problem. The bathroom has been modernised and is beautiful - but no storage; nowhere to put your toothbrush, wet pack etc or hang clothes. I suppose this is the price one pays for a period restoration.

The house being an old mansion had a lot of character. We stayed in the Tartan room which was very spacious. We had a nice comfy sofa and a balcony. The bed was super comfy. The Foxtel on the TV allowed us a lot of viewing options. The house was only a short walk to the main shopping area so was very convenient for eating out.

None of the shared spaces were ‘useable’ and the house in general seemed really quite run down and dusty. There was no breakfast, although it was called a bed and breakfast and limited tea and coffee in the rooms. There was a kitchen but it wasn’t available to use. The bathroom was desperately in need of renovation. It would have been absolutely beautiful 40 years ago, but It is now very old and tired.

The White Room was very big and well appointed, although the carpet needed attention. The staff member who greeted us was very welcoming and helpful. We could easily access the house and check out was simple. The location of the property is very convenient. There is a pub just around the corner and a good Italian restaurant a short walk away.

The shower over the bath in the White room was really quite dangerous. The mat provided slipped from under our feet and, luckily, no one was hurt. Despite our best efforts it was hard to keep the shower floor dry due to the shower curtain.

We stayed for two nights in room 4 downstairs; we loved the space especially the luxurious bathroom and the high ceilings. Check-in staff were very friendly and polite and gave us good local recommendations. Convenient parking at the back.

We did have a bit of noise travelling from upstairs; like footsteps and rolling luggage but this is to be expected in a period property. We also found that the checkin ‘desk’ could have been placed in another room instead of just outside our room door to avoid disturbances. Daily cleaning starting at 8am was not ideal as sometimes on a holiday you just want to lie in and not hear the hoover bashing over your head…

Comfy Beds were amazing - great nights sleep - Beautiful old world charm.

The bathroom has issues - the tap fell off and you need to exercise great care getting in and out of the bath to shower. I have always found plastic shower curtains a worry - skin hygiene is a priority with me and unfortunately a plastic curtain doesn't suffice. The hot water was slow but that's understandable in an old building.

Large room in a lovingly restored Victorian era property in a great location in the town centre. Nicely decorated with very high ceilings with a super comfortable bed and unique bathroom.

Unfortunately buildings of that style are very difficult to heat and keep warm. There was a powerful heat lamp in the bathroom but it was still very cool in the morning.

The house and the grounds are fabulous. The room was large and comfortable. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

There are mixed feelings about the huge bathroom is room 4. The sheer size of the room and the facilities are amazing. However there are some annoying details. Firstly, the taps in the spa bath are leaking. It really tried our patience to be in the bath under the constant trickle of icy cold water. Secondly, the tiles are very slippery when wet. There was the feeling of imminent danger of falling and breaking bones, every time entering or leaving the bath tub or the shower.

Beautiful old mansion with great gardens and views. Old charm and look forward to seeing the rooms as they have been renovated. Stunning white room to stay in. Check in was excellent and owner very friendly and helpful.

The tartan room was full of charm except the bath/ shower needs an update - looked wonderful just need more water pressure.

The property is very well located, only a couple of blocks from the Main Street. The bed is very comfortable, the main room is spacious, and the high ceiling and decor is impressive. The large smart tv is excellent.

The bathroom is interesting, but not very practical— shower over a bath with shower curtains, and a basin with insufficient room to arrange your toiletries
