Lovely cottage set in a beautifully tranquil location, you wouldn’t think it was only 5-10 mins from St Andrews. Perfect place to relax and enjoy the gardens, views and visiting wildlife. The cottage was spotless, comfortable (perfect nights sleep!) and the hosts really made our stay memorable. Norma and Alan were warm and welcoming, gave great tips on the local area and nothing ever felt like too much trouble. The breakfast was an added bonus and was always exceptional! We could not have been happier with our stay, the only downside is that we didn’t get to stay for longer!

Norma and Allen were fabulous hosts! Very attentive, friendly, kind, and wonderful folks with which to interact. There is so much to compliment about our stay! Our room/suite was very lovely! We had terrific views of St Andrews and the ocean in the far distance, but the best view was of the garden right off our patio. It was such an enchanted property, so finely tended with love. We were spoiled with an amazing breakfast served in our room with the gorgeous views. I was so glad I had booked the cottage; Norma, Allen, and the cottage were one of the highlights of our trip!

Norma and Alan are the perfect hosts. Their cottage is absolutely beautiful. Perfectly appointed. Fantastic views. Delicious homemade breakfasts. We felt so comfortable and cared for during the entire stay. It's the ideal location if you want to be just outside of town and surrounded by beauty, with just a 30 minute walk down to town. The breakfast "bonus" every morning is a visit from Elvis, the beautiful ring neck pheasant that makes a very loud and colorful appearance in the yard!

Breakfast was wonderful. I have some dietary restrictions and it was no issue at all. The homemade jams and marmalade were delicious. Norma and Alan are extremely friendly, warm, and helpful. It was great getting to speak with them, and they gave us helpful tips for exploring and parking in St. Andrews. Their property is absolutely beautiful with lovely gardens.

The location is glorious - Alan and Norma have created a beautiful and comfy "home from home" The breakfast is amazing, with lots of choices. We especialy loved the home made gooseberry jam and marmalade as well as bread from the local bakery. The gardens are a delight with glorious views across the fields to St Andrews itself. We spent a fair bit of time just chilling, being entertained by the antics of Mr and Mrs Pheasant (named by one of the grandchildren "Elivis" and Priscilla") as they scrambled to feed on seeds in the garden. A wonderful retreat but close to all the amenites and tourist spots around the East Neuk.

Nope, can't think of a thing, other than having to leave oh too soon! It is a lovely space and Alan and Norma are just so welcoming but never ovely intrusive.

Balmungo Cottage is in a stunning location in St Andrews! The cottage is beautifully presented and very relaxing for a stay in St Andrews. The hosts are absolutely fantastic and could not do enough for us. Breakfast is amazing, and the cottage has all the amenities you need.Highly recommended, we shall definitely return.

My parents and I had a lovely stay here in October. The cottage is in a beautiful setting with gorgeous views towards St. Andrews. Norma and Alan were superb hosts, very attentive. They were knowledgeable about the area, giving us great suggestions for places to visit and things to do locally. We enjoyed a very comfortable and relaxing stay here.

From our arrival and throughout our visit Norma and Alan were exceptional hosts, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was excellent each morning especially the jams. The beautiful garden was tranquil and full of wildlife- Elvis the pheasant was a delight to watch. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, and the location for us was ideal. Alan was a source of golfing information which was really useful for us.

The breakfast was very tasty and there was good choice. The location is absolutely perfect with a fantastic view over St Andrews. The rooms in the suite are very comfortable and tastefully decorated.

Truly exceeded our expectations. We hesitate to recommend only because this is one of those places you want to keep to yourselves for future visits. Alan greeted us upon arrival and made certain we were comfortable. Norma prepared delicious 3-course full Scottish breakfast with cooked-to-order eggs, bacon, fresh fruit, cereals, yogurt, juices, coffee & tea every morning. Fresh gooseberry jam from her beautiful garden. Alan's putting green was enjoyed by all. The cottage is spacious, comfortable and quiet. There is a t.v. in the receiving room, but we preferred to read books and relax with the floor to ceiling sliding doors open to the fresh air and gorgeous views of St. Andrew's. The distance to town(s) is perfect. We could be anywhere we needed/wanted to get to in just a short drive, but the ability to stay at the cottage overlooking our favorite parts of St. Andrew's was just the right fit for this leg of our trip. We enjoyed Norma's eye for interior design which was evident from every angle. The vignette by the window, unique mirrors framing the fireplace in the primary bedroom, the towel ladder in the bathroom...everything was just lovely. Alan and Norma have poured their hearts and souls into their property and it shows throughout. We look forward to many future stays! Could not have asked for anything more.
