Fantastic hotel with a nod to nostalgia. Staff who genuinely seem happy to see you and go above and beyond to help you. Loved the magician in the evening. It would be nice if they created more entertainment in the evening maybe a couple of evenings where the piano was played or something else to draw people into the very quiet lounge. The lounge was lovely to relax in anytime of the day or evening.

Wasn’t too fussed on the restaurant for dinner. Haute cuisine, tasty little portions but 2 mouthfuls of gristly lamb that was disappointing The pudding was amazing though .. I had a mouthful of my daughter’s passionfruit cheesecake and it was like heaven.

Excellent choices . Nothing to dislike

Dining room organiser continually tried to seat us in a corner , unable to see the view. Had to ask to change tables several times. The main restaurant catered for very expensive "fine dining". The Village pub next door, however, served a better range of meals at more sensible prices, hence it was relatively full. Surely the main hotel would be better off serving more classic food at reasonable prices. We also noticed several people at breakfast, filling handbags with food to take away. No-one seemed to bother!!

This is a very good, well run hotel. All staff friendly and helpful . Our room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was good with a wonderful sea view from the restaurant.Weather was excellent so swum in outdoor pool. Gardens very nice too. Enjoyed evening meals at The Village Inn which is part of the hotel.

Hadn’t realised that the sea was 12 minute walk away- though that was fine the last bit of the narrow lane was a little hazardous as no verges. A public footpath by the church and across golf course leads to cliffs. A minor issue was shower gel could have been a little more generous.

We were upgraded to a sea view automatically as they had spare rooms on the front. We asked for this at a previous hotel & was declined ! So big win here. The bedroom was very comfortable with a large balcony overlooking the gardens with a great view of the sea. Complimentary Nespresso in the room gets a thumbs up from me. The dining room decked out like a cruise ship looked 5 star. Breakfast was excellent both days - Caroline was great. Although I booked knowing there was a spa, I didn’t expect that! :-) Location to golf, beaches & beachouse was fantastic . The Village Inn was a bonus venue & very comfortable. An alternative for food or a drink. Loved the decor & roaring log fires through hotel. Plenty free parking. I can only imagine, in the summer the outdoor facilities are a big hit with families. Don’t worry we’re coming back!

Very disappointed with the evening meal in the dining room. It was a special occasion (although we hadn’t made a fuss about this). When we came to order our main courses (there were 4 of us) two of the dishes were not available and there was one portion of lamb left. I ended up having a dish I didn’t want and my wife had the lamb which was disgracefully tiny, hardly a slice. This was most disappointing particularly at the prices charged. In contrast the meal we had the night before in the pub was plentiful, delicious and half the price.

Clean, smart, beautiful decor!

At breakfast we couldn’t choose where to sit and were ushered to the furthest table from the buffet, right in the corner with no view despite there being plenty of free tables with views. This seemed was such a pity as we had been looking forward to breakfast with a view and couldn’t see out! My Mum is in her 80s and found the walk to and fro to get her breakfast a bit tedious! We politely asked if we could be seated elsewhere and were told no!

A lovely hotel in a beautiful setting with a view of the sea. It has a friendly feel with nearly all the staff saying hello and smiling. Everyone was keen to answer any queries we had. The bedroom was spacious and clean with a large balcony and chairs to sit and take in the view. The spa facilities are very good, we both had a massage which was expertly done. The food in both the restaurant and the pub was excellent, we will definitely visit again.

The service, location and ambience of the hotel were all amazing - staff were so welcoming and friendly and it felt as though nothing was too much trouble. The location is fantastic for a walk to Bantham and across to Bigbury by ferry where you can have a lovely walk around Burgh Island and an essential trip to the Pilchard Inn.

All the staff are very welcoming and the facilities are excellent. We had delicious food all weekend and had a very relaxing time using the spa. The views from the restaurant are quite breathtaking and even at this time of year the gardens were very tidy and looking beautiful .

The staff were efficient, friendly and accommodating. Rooms were comfortable with tea, Nespresso and fresh milk! The facilities were great and a choice of restaurants are available. We ate in the Village Inn (on site), and it was excellent. Overall, it was a great place with great staff.
