Beautiful property, we always return back as it is our favourite place. We have been coming for 4 years 2-3 times per year. It is still beautiful and the outside pizzas are an amazing addition!!

We return here every 5 months, but recently it h as gone slightly more expensive. Eg breakfast is included but actually there are now extra costs added on if you would like a pastrie to start with or a flat white. The breakfast which is included should just include all products, not added on top. We can also understand why they have split the restaurants, as it seems that Gara Rock wants to move to a higher end kitchen. But unfortunately it makes high paying customers staying there, to sit in a too relaxed lounge chair environment to have dinners. So it makes the normal dinner actually uncomfortable. We used to come here to enjoy the views of the property, not be split away in a lounge chair if we do not want to eat off the taster menu.

Great location and facilities. The pool and spa were superb. Staff were so lovely and welcoming. Lived up to the recommendation.

Dogs in the restaurant for breakfast. A large poodle threw up under the adjoining table while we were eating. Not a great experience and we felt sosorry for the member of staff who had to then clean it up.

This was our 4th visit to Gara Rock. We love the location, the attention to detail of the staff, whilst making the whole experience so comfortable. Fantastic massage as usual from Amy!

Some of the decor is starting to look a little tired; socket plates hanging off the wall in the bathroom, taps need tightening up. The change to splitting out 2 dining environments didn’t really suit us. If you don’t want to go for the a la carte or taster menu, the options are pretty limited.

Great location by the sea, fabulous rooms and bar restaurant. Excellent spa pool.

Staff were a bit mixed - on occasion some were slightly off hand and not particularly helpful Breakfast choices a bit limited - no vegetarian sausages seems a bit old fashioned . Coffee was just filter stuff from a pump dispenser rather than order. Not great for £25pp Restaurant is a great setting but choices quite limited and food was ok but nothing special. Fairly pricey but expected Outside areas could do with a bit of a tidy up , jet wash of paths etc. outside furniture also needed cleaning up

If you’re looking for a get away from everything kind of break then this place won’t disappoint. Junior suites are fantastic. View from restaurant is stunning. The best bit for us was the staff. So friendly and helpful. Made our trip.

Not much to dislike. If you want various restaurants and shops then this is not the place for you. Salcombe is a good 45 min drive away. Very hilly walking with tracks rather than paths so if you’re not steady on your feet avoid the trails. Our big gripe was the restaurant situation. Fine dining has been removed and now they are only offering what I would say is a pub menu and it’s the same everyday lunch & dinner. On a five night stay we struggled with choices. Saying that the food we did have was really good and the breakfasts were superb. We would have appreciated being told about the dining situation when booking though I think the website has now been changed as so many people complained.

Stayed here for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. A big shout out to the staff, as they are the best feature of the hotel. The pools, the spa, the cinema room, comfortable bedding and Sticky Toffee Pudding! The staff at reception and restaurant are very friendly and polite..every single one of them!! Nothing is ever too much for them. We were even offered to use the spa post check out. The rooms are nice and decent size, with comfortable bed and stunning views across the bay. We were lucky with the weather so, spent an entire afternoon at the outdoor pool. The indoor pool and spa area was great too. However, the highlight remains the cinema room, which you can book for a private viewing. The Sticky Toffee Pudding definitely deserves a shout!

the final 40 minutes of drive to the venue and the fact that the outdoor pool had not washrooms, you need to come into the main building to use the restrooms.

Stunning location, views and decor. We especially loved the outdoor pool and walk down to the beach. We stayed in one of the residences with a sea view and sitting out on the balcony in the morning looking out to sea with a coffee was a very special experience. Staff very friendly and helpful, food in restaurant very good (but pricey!)

We stayed in one of the residences, which were beautiful but showing some signs of wear and tear (peeling paint, broken window fittings etc). There were points when we might have liked to hang out in the lounge/bar area and have some drinks e.g. before/after dinner but the area was always deserted and quite hard to find someone to order a drink from - seemed like a missed opportunity for making some more revenue! We loved the remote location but worth noting the very narrow country roads and distance from civilisation in general, if that's what you're looking for!

The hotel was very comfortable, the staff were very friendly and very helpful advising even on the best way to travel to and from the hotel and the nearby towns, the best walking tracks, etc. They always welcomed us with a smile. The room we stayed at had a sea front view, and clean and comfortable. The bathroom had both a shower and a bath. Other facilities included a swimming pool, sauna and even a cinema room that can be booked free or charge - a really enjoyable addition on a rainy day..!! Additionally the meals in the restaurant was really nice

Not really a negative, but something that people need to know, is that to get to the hotel you have to travel on many single track roads - but this is the fact of life for traveling in the Devon country side. So the journey can take a while and you need to be prepaired to reverse the car if needed to the next passing point - especially if it's a bit truck coming in the opposit direction

Cinema room is fantastic. Swimming pool and sauna is great. Restaurant was very refreshing and outstanding Michelin star quality food with reasonable portions! Breakfast is not a buffet, portioned meals to choose from. Acess to beach 350 meters or so. Young staff were very approachable, in particular Noah.

Inherently access is difficult as roads are narrow and sickly. Cinema time slots were 3 hours, would be good if this could be shorted to 2.5 hours and allow a later slot in the evening. Outdoor pool closed from september as its too cold. Pool is quite short so difficult to do a work out. An addition of a gym would make staying more enjoyable, and allow us to stay longer. In the suite, the room lights were quite choatic with lots of switches which make it abit confusing. Suites would benefit from a portable induction cooker instead of the microwave oven.

That theft was no a la carte menu for our evening meal , only the lunch menu to choose from which already had done during the day . My daughter had stayed recently and she had the a la menu an available to her , so disappointed as we struggled to choose ! I did question this but was told they were between transition but not sure what that meant ….. just would have been informed when we booked out table for that evening that this was the case .
