The staff were fabulous. Amy on Reception was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast staff also very friendly, happy and helpful. Apologies that i can't recall their names. Location superb for The Hoe and short walk into city centre. Hotel has very good choice of food for breakfast and hot food cooked to order. There is a small bar area with seating and there is off street parking.

The small, de lux single room is very small. Not ideal for anyone more than 6 feet(2 metres) or of a large build. Not a criticism, just pointing this out for anyone booking single room. The room itself is very well furnished, clean functional and quiet.

The hotel is so convenient for the theatre and surrounding bars and restaurants. It was about a ten minute walk. When we left we drove up to the Hoe and we were surprised how close that is too. Probably a ten/fifteen minute walk. The hotel isn't manned overnight but you have an emergency contact name and number for emergencies and you have a key for the front door so no problems at all. The staff were all very friendly and the breakfast was very good. It was self service drinks, cereals, yogurts and fruit salad (which was very nice!) and then you give your choice of hot breakfast the night before. We will definitely stay here again.

We were delayed due to traffic for our planned arrival, but Katie ensured our reserved parking space was kept for us. She was sympathetic as we rang ahead & professional & cheerful upon our arrival. We have stayed 3 times at this hotel annually as a stop over before taking the continental ferry, it has now changed its name slightly, but still remains our favourite less than 10 minutes drive to the terminal & an excellent location to walk into Plymouth & the Barbican. Lovely tradional breakfast before our sailing! The hotel rooms have been refurbished to a good standard.

I didn't stay long enough for breakfast due to an early coach but the staff member who I spoke to arranged late check in with me and left me some breakfast to go things including a takeaway cup for coffee which I thought was a lovely touch.It is a beautifully kept hotel and while very central it was very quiet and I fell asleep without managing under the duvet as the bed was so comfy! As a housekeeper I automatically look at a room from a professional viewpoint and you can tell there is care and attention to detail in the upkeep. Wonderful hot and powerful shower with very nice smelling and effective toiletries .. as someone who dyes their hair often I need and enjoy a good conditioner and those in the room were amazing..would actually like to know the products so I can buy some.

The only thing I would say and it's ridiculously minor is a face cloth would have been great due to makeup being washed off and a bath mat because the shower which is wonderfully hot and powerful is powerful enough to splash out as you open the shower door .. this isn't even a dislike it's just a minor detail that would have meant a dry floor when I exited the shower, due to being a bit prone to accidents I am wary of tiled and wooden flooring though this is a personal preference and not a bad reflection at all of the hotel.

Great hotel, and great location. Literally 5 minutes from Plymouth Hoe and the Theatre (which is where we went). Breakfast was great and lots to choose from. If you want cooked breakfast, you complete a form with your choice the night before and all cooked fresh for you, from English Breakfast, Eggs Benedict, toast, cereal, fruit etc. There is parking at the front and rear, which is free, but you need to ask, as the front spaces were full, but there were spaces at the rear of the property (where we parked). Also street parking, which you pay for and a multi storey nearby.

Nothing, all was as expected

Prior to arrival,we the Hotel called to make sure I was on my way and to find out approximately what time I would arrive. I was also informed that parking was on a first come basis, and I would need to park at the rear of the premises. The room was very spacious and modern, with super lighting with different levels of light. The bathroom was super modern. The furniture in the room was great and very sturdy. All the drawers were soft close.

There was an extraction fan outside my window that hummed all night (room 15). Thankfully I was tired, and it was cold ( so the window remained closed) so it didn't disturb me. The shower in the bathroom was a Mira electric shower with two heads. Unfortunately the hose to one leaked and therefore affected the water pressure of the water coming out of the head.

Amazing staff!! The lady at the front desk helped us get into a restaurant that didn’t seem to be taking any more reservations. They were all so friendly and helpful - 5 stars all around. Location is great and we walked everywhere. The bathroom is very nice although it took us a bit to understand how to use the hot water system. Once we figured it out, it was good. The room size is very nice with a nice size closet and a good blow dryer. Breakfast is also delicious with a selection of eggs, bacon, etc made fresh!

I don’t like leaving such a wonderful place a negative review at all but I must only due to the main bed. The queen size bed mattress was one of the worst that I’ve ever had especially at this price point. Fortunately, we only have 1 child so I was able to sleep in the single bed, which was very comfortable. My husband had to stay on the queen bed and woke up in pain. I would not have slept at all in it. Please replace the large mattress and then the hotel is a 10.

Full Vegan breakfast was very nice. Vegan sausages and 'bacon'. All cooked well and delivered quickly. Also nice fruit salad and plant based milk available. Definitely recommend for vegans. Staff all very friendly and attentive. Delivered an iron and board quickly to my room.

Only thing that didn't make the stay excellent was the room I was given (5) was in the basement. Was woken up at about 7am by footsteps on the ceiling. This went on until I left the room at 8 for breakfast. Wouldn't stay in this room again. Price was increased I suspect due to labour conference. Price about 1/3 cheaper the previous weekend.

Fantastic location, friendly hotel excellent breakfast

Bed was hard, one of the pillows were lumpy and trouble with door key which took half an hour to get in our room, had to call emergency number and the following morning when spoke to reception found out they new about the lock. Housekeeping not as good as previous years, spikt coke on the bed and the bed sheets and quilt were not changed until day before going home

We received a very effusive and friendly welcome, and everything thereafter was grand. The location is very central and the free parking most welcome. The Drake is very well presented and decorated very smartly. There are some wonderful period features combined with a smart modern twist in the rooms. We found our bed to be very comfortable and the bathroom very clean and modern with a great powerful shower. The cooked breakfast - and unlimited continental selection - was excellent, served in a wonderful large and very smart traditional room. Overall an extremely pleasant one-night stay and we will most certainly return, thank you very much.
