I stumbled across this place due to a power outage in Crewe, and I'm so glad I did, What a fantastic place! I travel quite a bit, and was blown away. For the price, there is nothing to touch it, The staff are super friendly and helpful, the rooms are large, well lit and really nicely decorated. The bed was huge and so comfortable, and the bathroom was ample in size with a really great shower. And the food and beer on offer in the restaurant is excellent. For once, there really is nothing to fault. A true 10/10
I could find nothing to fault other than it's not closer to where I live.

Very smart inn with tasteful decor and large rooms and dinning areas. Food is excellent both at dinner and breakfast with plenty of choices. They also have one of the largest choices of drinks on offer including cocktails.Room was large with separate relax area with sofa bed and coffee table. The bed was large and comfortable there was plenty of sockets and lights and a good dressing table with well positioned mirror and hair dryer.WIFi was easy to access and worked efficiently. Staff were friendly helpful and welcoming. Quite country location with large car park and no road noise. This we noticed is a very dog friendly inn even offering a special doggy menu.
Floor creaking on way to bathroom at night. Dinning area a bit noisy on first night. But that is purely being picky was a lovey stay

Big comfy room massive bathroom and shower. Stunning food, the fish special could have been served in any high end restaurant, and decent beers on draught Proper breakfast Smiley staff ;)
Dogs. Its clearly a dog friendly place however maybe have an area where dog families eat. A dog jumped up at our breakfast table and the owners just laughed and thought it was ok, its not. Whilst it wouldn't be a reason for not returning it does annoy me a tad and why its a 9 not 10..

Food was extremely good, staff friendly and professional in whatever duties they were performing. The room was excellent and bathroom looked brand new everywhere was very clean, it was a pleasure to stay there and a good choice of items for breakfast !
The room was quite hot during the night, due to the towel rail being constantly on with no obvious off switch. During breakfast I overheard a couple of other guests mention the same thing. The only other thing I feel I need to mention is that the middle step of the three stairs opposite room 5 doesn’t have a black edging strip unlike the other two and for someone with poor eyesight (like me) it meant they were difficult to negotiate, this is an observation not a complaint.

We visited as a group of 6, we booked the stay and dine package. What a fantastic place, easy to find, plenty of parking and easy check in. Our room (9) was stunning, with views, 4 poster bed, bathroom with bath and separate shower and 2 washes. We drank and ate, food was lovely, the team looked after us all night, keeping us watered with a good drinks menu including cocktails. Breakfast was very good too. The team split the bill across the 3 couples without any issues (some places make this more complicated than what it is). Everything to the highest standard. We will definitely return and would highly recommend.
Genuinely there is nothing that we didn’t enjoy.

Warm and polite greetings from staff, which continued from beginning to end of stay. You were made to feel welcome. The food was excellent, and the choice was extraordinary for someone who has several allergies. Staff were A+, and nothing was too much trouble. We would have no problem recommending the Bear's Paw to family and friends. We also look forward to making a return visit in the future.
There is nothing to be noted that we didn't like.

The Bear's Paw is a beautifully presented eatery and a fabulous place to stay. We stayed to break up our journey home from the Lake District and didn't disappoint. Food was excellent, both at lunchtime and dinner with a tempting menu and quality ingredients. Our room, although on the top floor was spacious, clean and the bathroom luxuriously appointed with quality fittings. This will now be our default stop over when travelling North to South.
What didn't we like? We only could stat one night!

The hygiene and cleanliness of this hotel is fantastic. Every day I witnessed the communal areas being washed/mopped/hoovered. The staff were very helpful, polite and respectful to us and especially our dog. Beautiful inside and out, as well as the location. Nice sized rooms, good showers and room accessories.
I feel the breakfast requires improvement. Full English Breakfast for example, only one sausage, half a slice of black pudding etc. Its a bit bizarre sitting with it knowing someone on another table has the other half of your black pudding. Average quality. One elderly member of staff that I only ever seen at breakfast time - never smiled, didn’t seem enthusiastic and gave off the vibe that she didn’t want to be there or enjoyed serving people. Made as much noise as she could when clearing tables too. Definitely wouldn’t prevent me coming back however, the rest of the experience was fantastic.

Restaurant staff were superb. Calm efficient. Food was exceptionally good for a gastro pub.
Roads in the area. Property is superb but sat nav / google maps etc often take you down single track roads - bought a map book which allows you to plan better routes with white lines!!

Breakfast was delicious as was dinner. Room was large and comfortable Dogs were welcomed
Hairdryer secured in a drawer and the lead isn’t long enough to dry hair properly. Dog charge at £25 per dog was excessive for one night as the only extra was a dog bed and two bowls. I understand the potential need for additional cleaning in a dog room, but usually for a charge like that you’d expect at least some dog treats etc.
