The Hotel is lovely and clean. Staff are very friendly and attentive. I had a deluxe room, (room 12) which was excellent, and had everything you require, obviously I cannot comment on other rooms. Free parking is definitely a bonus.

I know we all have different preferences, but I was disappointed with the selection of beer, from a very Town central Hotel. You will not find firm favourites such as Madri, Birra Moretti, or San Miguel. Instead, there are sub-standard beers of inferior quality. Also my evening was very poor. I chose the Lamb, it was dreadfully salty, the worst Lamb I had ever eaten. However, my Wife had the Chicken, which was actually quite nice.

Mostly staff were excellent with the exception of one young lady in the evening. I appreciate there were functions on at the hotel but her manner and tone in speaking to my elderly parents when they asked her to help find a seat was shocking - she basically directed them to a small area and said that’s the only place you can sit - it was already full! Showed no empathy or made no attempt to sort chairs for them to sit shocking behaviour from a 5 star establishment. Reserve tables for guests only would be advisable !!!!!!!!! Food, room, location and rest of staff were excellent.

Excellent room in the Annexe, quiet, clean , sparkling bathroom and comfy bed. It was very hot, but a fan was provided. Good to see that there are more parking spaces available for guests.

Breakfast was a mixed experience. First morning we waited 35 mins for cooked breakfast, we weren't having anything else so it was a long wait. When it arrived, the presentation was poor, he fried egg thrown on top of the mushroom and bacon, some of the bacon was so hard it was inedible and the hash brown looked as though it had been reheated. The next day everything was spot on, served in a timely manner, well presented and tasty. We have stayed at the Wheatsheaf on several occasions and never had an issue with the quality of food or service.

A really great room with a wonderful bathrrom - walk in power shower 2 sinks large airy room The room had a small fridge which held REAL MILK hurrah! It also had a Nespresso coffee machine wil wonderful coffee pods plus great selection of very good teas. Dinner and breafasts all excellent and very good value for money

The only one thing that prevents complete excellence for our stay was that we were in a room in an annex which invlolved having to walk through the car park to reach the main hotel - ok if weather is kind but would be pretty awful in bad weather. Had we known we would have asked for a different room as we are both in late 70s and it was a real nuisance to have to do this. The hotel should perhaps make this clear when booking

The staff were lovely, especially Amy, who upgraded our room, carried one of our bags upstairs, and brought us a kettle as we were struggling with the coffee machine. Our room was very spacious, the only downside was the traffic noise from the roundabout below our windows.

Breakfast sadly let it down. Dinner the night before was lovely, but the breakfast was dry and overcooked with solid eggs, and it took ages to come, making us late for our onward journey. There was some lovely bread laid out, but the toaster on the table didn't work. They brought some toast from the kitchen, which was barely toasted. It's such a shame.

Dinner was OK (possibly the best pub food - but not fabulous as expected)

The noise from the wedding until baout 10pm - I suppose that cant be helped - but as a non wedding guest I should have been put further away from the party and the wedding guests near the party - sicne they were AT the party it would not have disturbed them as much as it did me. It must be the best ''pub'' in the town - but I think this time (I have been a dozen tiems before) the food let it down slightly (SOGGY Fish and SOGGY ''tripple cooked'' chips) - so much so I ate elsewhere the second night

We love pub B&Bs, and the Wheatsheaf is a very nice pub with excellent accomodation. A lot of attention to detail. We were made very welcome and were provided with a very comfortable room. My other half was chuffed to bits, so many brownie points were gained. We felt spoiled, the bed was very comfortable. the coffee machine was a really good one with a fridge for fresh milk. The breakfast was also very good. Plenty of free parking.

Bar staff were professional and kind, but lacked the warmth and friendlyness that we like in smaller pubs. We could not fault the room or the pub.

The food was good. We had dinner and breakfast. Staff was friendly and courteous. The room was clean and spacious. We asked for a room near the parking lot and our wish was granted. It was just all the noise outside our window that we did not like. We enjoyed the breakfast and dinner.

The room had windows opened because there was no Air Conditioning. We could not close the windows because you would need a ladder to do so. Also, because it was so hot, you would not want to close the window. However, there was a lot of noise from all the traffic going by and we got very little sleep as a result. We will probably stay again but may ask for a different room.

Let's start with the positives, The refurbishment scheme was very well thought out, with tasteful decor and rooms that created a welcoming atmosphere. We stayed in a superior room, which was very comfortable, beds comfy. We stayed in and additionally, the ample parking available - great for a busy town centre - was a great convenience. Breakfast was another highlight, offering a good variety with generous plate selections that catered to a range of tastes. Although the continental seemed lacking and just sparse - Surely some more thought needs to be given to this part

The Wheatsheaf has potential but lacks attention to detail and strong leadership. Issues included no milk in the room, poor cleanliness (e.g., shower heads), cumbersome checkout with no Apple Pay, and alarming security lapses. Before our stay, we received a scam message via the Booking.com portal, which was acknowledged but not followed up on. More concerning, someone intoxicated attempted to enter our room at 2 am while we had children staying. While we de-escalated and reported it to staff, there was no follow-up the next day. These lapses highlight the gap between okay and exceptional service. With better attention to basics and investment in mystery shoppers, this place could truly shine.
