Perfectly located in the Gold Coast/Old Town area for what we were doing. Close walk to the beach. Great spot to hop on the train to get downtown, shady during walks which was needed since it was so hot! Lobby bar was perfect for coffee in the morning. Room was spacious & clean! Water offered in lobby was a plus.
Needs better ventilation in the rooms, but I know the building is older. Needs more towel racks/hooks in bathroom, and one for a hand towel at the sink! More sound proofing on alley side from garbage truck noise.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The hotel lobby has a very happy vibe to it. There is a bar and areas to sit and visit. The wine hour was nice but would be nice if a local IPA was an option for beer drinkers. Beds were comfortable. Great place to eat right near by 3rd Coast.
The size of our room was small and there wasn’t a lot of room for luggage. The closet area is a rod and would be helpful to have a shelf to get things off the floor. We were in town visiting so didn’t spend too much time in the room. Need to supply more bath towels. We requested more and they brought them right up.

We live close enough to Chicago that we visit somewhat regularly. We choose the Claridge House for a weekend trip a few summers ago because it seemed like the best value and location for the money. It's the only place we stay now, we don't bother to look at other places. The rates are reasonable for Chicago. The lobby area is cozy and nicely decorated with a great coffee shop and bakery items and bar in the evening. Complimentary wine in the evening and there's always fruit infused water in the lobby. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. It depends on where in the building you get a room but some of the bathrooms are a little tight, and we've noticed some quirks like some of the shower controls are installed upside down haha. Not a big deal but something to be aware of. They have Keurigs with tea and coffee in each room and little things like shower caps and makeup wipes that a lot of hotels don't provide that add to convenience.
It's definitely an older building that's been updated. Everything is modern and comfortable but there are small things. If you're looking for a very comfortable stay at a reasonable price in a great location, worth every penny. If you expect a flawless, luxury experience you might run into little annoyances. I mentioned the shower controls in some rooms - np big deal once you notice it and adjust to it. One time we went for a concert and a ton of people going stayed here. The elevator slowed way down for an about an hour in the morning and it was a Hassel.

Having easy access to Cal's restaurant was super convenient. Place was really quiet. Parking garage right next door was also a plus
I'm a big shower person. I love a nice hot shower with a really nice full shower head with a lot of water pressure. The shower lacked those things. Also, I would hear water loudly running randomly throughout the night that would wake me up. I thought it was the toilet running, but I think it might have been behind the wall from the toilet. It wasn't a big enough issue to deal with calling maintenance to our room though

Great location, staff was friendly at check-in and provided us with extra water bottles. Gym is good. Beds are comfortable, although a bit small. Enough space in the room to leave your luggage and move around.
Bed was on the small side. The shower kept dripping and we could here this from the room, also mentioned this to staff but nothing was done about it during the stay, but hopefully fixed afterwards. Quite a lot of noice from outside.

My room was facing an inner wall but I requested a room quicker due to my early arrival and host told me this one was available but it had no view. So no issue and I appreciated the quiet room. The bed was super comfortable and the room was quiet.
Like many reviews say, the rooms are dated. The room carpet did have a slight dampness to it lol.... and the lighting in the room was not enough. it was cave like. I did not mind it though as I was either out or sleeping while in the room

The rooms are near-perfect - spacious, comfortable and very very clean. The hotel's staff is friendly and easy to reach out to, always happy to help out. The location is great too - close to all your needed restaurants (Old Town), shops (Mag Mile) and the beach.
The parking situation could be a little better - the one right next door is a little pricy but we found a great option two blocks down on 1350 LSD. You can hear most-everything from the room right next - however we only experienced this for a moment.

The hotel is located on a beautiful street in the Gold Coast, and is well situated for exploring Old Town, Lincoln Park and the Magnificent Mile. Many restaurants are within easy walking distance, as are two famous comedy clubs. The lobby is welcoming, with plenty of places to relax and unwind; the 5-6pm complimentary wine hour is a nice touch! We appreciated the quieter neighbourhood, the spacious room and bed.
The bathroom could really use more towel racks or hooks; one hook wasn't enough for two people.

I really liked the neighbourhood the hotel was in. I liked walking on the street. It was within walking distance to a metro stop as well. And, hey, there's an attraction right across the street, Ernest Hemingway's apartment. The price was also ok for a big city like Chicago.
The room looks better in the pictures on this website than in reality. Not to say that it was bad though. I had some troubles with the size of the bathroom, it was hard to go around in it. Then the positions of the electric plugs was not the best. The room was kind of dark with not enough light sources. The beds were extremely high, so if you're short, you have to jump to get into bed.

Great boutique property close to many amenities, including restaurants and entertainment. With a train station only two blocks away, we could be anywhere in the city in a matter of minutes. The in-house bar and food service was a plus and the daily “wine hour” was a nice touch - great time to mingle with other guests.
It’s fine, but could use a little refreshing. Our room was a lot smaller than anticipated and had no dresser for clothes.
