Lovely Country Lodge. Very quiet - felt like there were only a few guests until we went for breakfast. We were upgraded from Lodge view to Garden view (not sure the difference). Large room with lounge area and large full size bathroom. So many kangaroos call this place home, which was lovely, but also be aware driving at dusk and at night.
I hadn't realised we had breakfast included with our booking. Check-in staff didn't tell us (only general meal options) so we missed out first morning. Second morning (Sunday) there were not enough breakfast staff or tables from 9-10am when we went (yes, the hotel info said it would be busy then). Needs ushered seating for breakfast so tables are cleared and reset. Option for room service breakfast would be nice and would free up dining space. Map with walking trails and signposts would be a nice addition- the path across the road simply says only golfers can enter.

Lovely room, very comfortable. Good breakfast in the morning. Surrounding area around was pleasant for a walk and wallaby spotting.
I would have given a higher rating if the chap behind the bar hadn’t been so determined to get us out of the bar area. Complaining his girlfriend would be asking where he was at this time of night. We had been sitting having an evening drink watching the tennis. It was only 10pm! Staff in the morning were lovely but you have to pay for lattes? There is a Nespresso coffee machine which is free.

The friendliness of the staff was exemplary. Melissa at check in and Tracy ( I think) at check out were so warm and friendly. The staff member who dealt with us ( always wore a white shirt) at the lodge bistro on Friday and at two breakfast was outstanding. His manner with us and other patrons was beyond reproach. Cleaning staff we ran into said hello. Breakfast was superb. The best scarmbled eggs bacon and sausages. Cereal variety was fantastic. The Bircher muesli with the sago was out of this world.
1. The tap was too close to the edge of the sink in the bathroom. It drove me crazy. 2. The tables at breakfast could have been wiped more often. On two mornings the tables were not wiped down after previous use.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here very much. This hotel is right in the heart of the Yarra Valley so easy access to all the wineries and activities in the area. Pretty easy to find, located across the street from a huge golf course, plenty of parking on site (even if the garage is full there is plenty of open air parking adjacent to the hotel). Very clean, spacious, comfy, and the patio doors open right up into the grounds. The best thing about the hotel is the kangaroos and wallabies that roam free there. They’re adorable and you might wake up to them right outside your door. The bar restaurant had great food and cocktails, I don’t normally opt for hotel food but we arrived kinda late to go out and hungry, but we didn’t regret eating there at all. Had a genuinely good stay here!
Nitpicking but a safe and maybe some bathrobes would have put this place over the top.

The bed was exceptionally comfortable and suite was spacious, but no love was evident in the ambience overall.
For a $400-$500 a night tariff I would have expected a little more attention to detail. Box of tissues only had about 10 left in the box, were cheap and scratchy! Expected hand wash in a pump bottle not a 20 cent size of hand soap and no place to put it, same with toiletries. I have long hair, not only were they very sparse but would have been nicer in a shower dispenser unit instead of thumb sized bottles. No powerpoint on my side of the bed yet 3 on the other side. I am an interior designer, Art hung behind a tv makes no sense? No housekeeping, tired decor with damaged cabinetry, won’t be coming back, would not recommend.

Love the location - so peaceful! All Staff - Especially Ella, Jess and Simara, were exceptional! Carmen (or Carmil, not wearing a name tag) and Tracy were also very helpful and obliging! 🙂 Reception - Attentative, friendly and helpful. Rooms - Comfortable and mostly clean. However, bathrooms need to be refreshed, especially the tiled floor! Re-grouting would make a huge difference!!! Towels need to be upgraded (renewed), as some were stained and rough! Room service, although limited hours, was reasonable. Bar service by Ella and Jess was memorable and most enjoyable, thank you! Breakfast - Love that buffet breakfast is included in the accommodation price! However, it could be improved vastly improved by providing a larger variety of vegetation/vegan options. 😉 Barista-made coffee, in my opinion, should also be included, without being an extra cost! A walk along the grounds is always a bonus, especially observing the kangaroos on the property. 🙂
Bathroom floors - NEED to be re-grouted, as the look grotty! Towels need to be upgraded (renewed), as some were stained and they were also very dry and scratchy. New, soft towels would be much appreciated!!!

Staff and service was friendly and helpful, grounds were beautiful, we appreciated the grazing Kangaroos and diverse birdlife. Our room was well equipped and very comfortable. Bar service and food was good although busy at times.
Bella Restaurant breakfast was great. However, difficult to get in for dinner, so options were bar food or to drive 7 - 10 km away to a vineyard or local restaurant. Also, The Bella's fixed price 4 course menu was not what we wanted, would like to see A La Carte option.

The location is stunning, it would be hard to get sick of the rolling green hills, native bushland, walking trails and quiet sounds of nature. The food is great, and staff are very pleasant.
Closing the in-house restaurant on a Friday night is a bizarre decision. The room service was good but took a while to get to us. The TV software system is truly horrendous, whoever made the decision to sign a contract with the software provider certainly never bothered to use it before doing so. I'm very experienced with technology and just could not connect to the living room TV in the suite, no matter what I tried.

Property is gorgeous and well maintained. Staff was extremely friendly. Rooms were clean and spacious. Best part - hordes of kangaroos roaming around on the facility. It was a treat to see so many animals, birds, etc just going about their day. So beautiful! A couple of things to note though: 1. The property is only reachable by car and there is not much to do after sunset. 2. It wasnt clear that the lodge is within the Heritage Collection grounds - there is no signboard for Yarra Valley Lodge so you have to go in through the Heritage gates to get to the lodge - follow google maps so you dont get lost but enter the Heritage Gates and dont go to the back gate, which is closed. 3. It is very dark at night with no street lights so it can be intimidating if you go there in the dark the first time - again, trust google maps.
1. Room service was limited to changing towels, rearranging the bedsheets and a peripheral clean up 2. There is a very limited in room menu dining menu and it closes at 9 pm, but you can order food through UberEats 3. Breakfast was exactly the same items all 3 days we were there and the menu could be improved with more hot items. Also, on the last day (a tuesday), the food didnt seem fresh and possibly reused from the previous day. 4. Heating in the room could be stronger.

Location was beautiful
Breakfast was not good. Also had to pay for coffees on arrival, without being told there is a machine in the dining room which is free to use. Lunch/dinner bistro menu is also very overpriced for poor quality food. We had the beef burger and fish and chips and both meals were bordering on inedible.
