We were so impressed with the historical authenticity of the hotel as well as lots of little extra treats like two pairs of snuggly warm sox and a bottle of red in our room. The breakfast, included in the accommodation price, was excellent in both quality and variety - more than a lot of 'continental breakfasts' offer. On arrival a delightful young man offered to carry our luggage up the stairs if we needed help. We didn't need help but the offer was very thoughtful. Parking was easy too, and the complimentary breakfast barista coffee was very good!

The stairs were quite creaky and steep, but we'd definitely stay again for all the positives.

Staff were excellent. Beds were excellent, rooms were well cleaned. The apartment was superb, exceeded my expectations. The reduced price as a last minute deal was appreciated. Second Queen room in the hotel for my friend was very good, though a little cooler than the apartment due to very high ceilings and tall glass windows. . His shower hot water stopped after a few minutes in the morning, but he restarted and it was good for him to finish his shower. His room faced the main street and had some minor traffic noise - insignificant if you come from any large city, but mildly noticeable if you are from a very quiet rural area. The rear apartments had NO NOISE whatsoever. Evening meal was was way better that average for a rural hotel. And again, staff at check-in, dinner and breakfast were all professional, polite, helpful and cheerful.. We will be back.

HWS in upstairs room #1 cut out half way though showering, but came back on when restarted. Hotel otherwise was great.

Its a grand old place, well located and with lots to offer but needs to be loved. the building is stunning, elegantly furnished to suit the period, Staff and manager are lovely too. close to a lot of great wineries.

the grand is a beautiful old building but needs a lot of TLC. our room was stunning but upon my husband sitting on the bed, the one side came crashing down. the frame supporting the slats sheared off. also the water pressure in the showers needs to be addressed. a lot of the areas look tired and in need of paint. also some pruning needs to be done to remove the climbers that are growing over some windows.

I stayed in one of the apartments and had everything I needed. The heating was wonderful, the natural light during the day was lovely & the girl who checked me in was super sweet

When I initially arrived, I was worried about the sliding door between my room and the guest next door. He had someone on speaker and I could hear the whole conversation. I quickly learnt that once I was in the bedroom with the door closed, I couldn’t hear a thing. You can’t hear them when the TV is on either.

The suite was spacious and comfortable, with modern amenities and attractive decor. The staff was helpful (and in my case, patient - thanks for the batteries). The suite is attached to a character local pub/restaurant - seemingly popular with the locals, which is always a good recommendation for a drink and a bite to eat.

i was disappointed that there was no hot food for breakfast - is this the Australian thing? Also, we never got that bottle of wine that was promised at the time of booking.

Staff were super friendly, and the room was so clean and tidy! We received a free bottle of wine with our stay which was a great bonus, and there was also free brekky (although my partner and I were too lazy and slept in haha). We had dinner there as well, and we were given a table in a quiet corner by the fire which was soooo cosy, especially on such a cold winter night. We felt well taken care of! The hotel is a beautiful historic building and was only 10 mins away from a winery we went to for lunch, and close to Healesville as well. There are also plenty of options around to eat as well, but the restaurant on site is worth it!

Unfortunately the mattress was very uncomfortable for us! And if you have a shower, you'll need to have it on for a while before the hot water clicks in otherwise you'll end up frozen like me haha! But that's obviously something that can easily be resolved if you don't jump in right away! Haha

Beautiful room, very clean and also quiet which was surprising as it is upstairs above dining room and bar. Very comfortable mattress...happy to stay here again!😊

No water for a shower in the morning ....felt very sorry for the manager, trying to deal with a situation he had no control over....the water mains in the street had been ruptured. Still got to have breakfast and were given a generous voucher to compensate for the inconvenience of no water..👍

Always wanted to stay in this beautiful old pub and I'm glad I did. Good value and old world charm. Great meals and included continental breakfast.

It is quite creaky and noisy being the vintage it is which has to be expected. They do have ear plugs as an in room gift. It was pretty quiet being midweek but I imagine weekends would be a lot noisier. The old chaise lounge although very fitting for the room wasn't at all comfortable.

Loved the old world charm, nice to have books to read, great idea to have a child free area for dining. Great location and awesome having breakfast included. Dinner was also really nice.

Shower over the bath can be hard for people with mobility difficulties. Had to plug the kettle in on the high shelf in the bathroom otherwise on the floor on carpet. Would be good to have a power board near the where the kettle was on the fridge.

Such a beautiful establishment! I fell in love with the place as soon as I entered the property! The staff were wonderful and very helpful.

Cob webs on the inside of the windows in our room (perhaps a reflection of the "old" rustic Charm of the property....) and the incredibly loud noise that woke us on our first morning, which was possibly coming from the pipes when a neighbouring room was showering. The hot water was also a bit touch and go when showering.This may very well be expected for such an old property (circa. 1888), however, having this fixed to provide comfort to future guests may be a great consideration 😀 Other than this, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
