The sumptuous elegance and space. The renovations have been completed to a very high standard and are in keeping with the period where possible, plus the modern renovations and facilities still blended in very nicely. The location and views enhanced the enjoyment of our stay. Shared areas and facilities were also of a very high standard, tastefully decorated and appointed throughout. Furniture and fittings must have taken a lot of time and effort to locate, procure or build. The accommodation is modern and very comfortable where necessary, but it still seems like you’re stepping back in time.

The bed was a little too high for comfort if you’re short statured. Plus the general mattress comfort was good, but not great. Boutique tea bags didn’t taste as nice as some other high quality teas, but they were probably chosen because they’re organic. No spare power point near the tea/coffee area to plug the kettle into. Legend having it that King Edward VIII played on the upstairs billiard table seems a little dubious given the upstairs section was built in 1925, but (then) Prince Edward’s visit to Australia was years earlier. The driveway is a little steep and has loose gravel.

A beautifully maintained historical property, renovated with careful attention to detail to provide 3 excellent characterful & comfortable suites. The common areas are lovely and we enjoyed the full sized billiard table upstairs. Excellent breakfasts and dinners are available at the motel property right next door, or it is approx 1km to stroll into the centre of town.

Only one minor criticism: the sitting room in Hay suite needs a standard lamp. With no TV in that space (fine), more light would allow reading in front of the gorgeous gas fire.

Everything about this accommodation exceeded our expectations, it is so beautifully appointed, well run with friendly and professional staff, easy access for all our luggage, we were able to drive close enough to the entrance and roll into the rooms. We were able to use the kitchen/fridge, again so well stocked. The bathrooms were pure luxury, linens, towels everything was fabulous. We also had dinner steps away at the Commodore, it was excellent, as was the Delgattie wine in the room. The place has the beautifully aged history, yet with all the modern technology and updates needed... we loved our stay! Thank you so much, its our favorite accommodation so far in NZ and Australia :)... Kim

perhaps a little milk or powdered whitener for tea/coffee in the morning would have made it even more perfect :) but not complaining!

The whole property was immaculately presented with attention to detail. The Hay suite, as is all their suites, was stunning & comfortable, offering a luxurious & restful stay. We loved the Appelles bathroom amenities, and the tea selection on offer was appealing as well. The two owners were very friendly and helpful. We dined at The Commodore next door (also owned by Delgattie Estate) & the food was incredibly tasty & of a very high standard, service was impeccable & food served very quickly. Next time we stay here we would consider having this sent to Delgattie to dine at the property.

We couldn’t fault anything at this property, it really was everything we could have asked for & exceeded our expectations.

This property was stellar. What a treat to be dipped into such luxury! Meet and greet was very well done. There is so much good to say of the property - I will suffice to say it was exactly as gorgeous as it looks in the pictures. Option of an in-room continental breakfast or the works at the neighbouring hotel. Yes, it was one of the more expensive properties we booked over our trip, but it was well worth it. Very easy to recommend this.

This is a delightful property with real old world charm, huge rooms and an excellent setting. Bed was lovely as was the freestanding bath. Breakfast can be a hamper in your room or at the adjacent Commodore Hotel, which operates Delgattie Estate. Both are good options as are dinner and cocktails at the Hotel. Overall, a great experience and highly recommended,

The only very slight negative was that the arrival instructions were a bit vague but a phone call clarified things quickly.

Beautifully appointed room and facilities. Warm welcome from Charlotte.

We were visited by another couple who could not access their room due to miscommunication with the management. We tried to help them by calling on their behalf and there was no reply. We had to direct them to sister hotel to get help. Communication for check in should be clearer and other guests not disturbed.

This is a wonderful boutique luxury option for a stay in Mt Gambier. Located about a 5–10-minute walk to the centre of town, this is a heritage property that has been renovated and furnished to a high standard. The common areas are beautiful – gorgeous dining room and full size billiards room! The high quality linens, fluffy towels and bathrobes, beautiful mini bar and glassware are thoughtful touches that make this a luxe stay. We stayed in the Hay Suite which had a bedroom with a large flat screen TV and a small lounge with a gas fireplace. These were connected by a spacious well-equipped bathroom. The space didn’t work that well for us because we are on a long road trip with lot of luggage, but this is a lovely option for a weekend treat!

We had a lot of luggage and there was no where to put our things.

The bed was just a tad not comfortable but that was the only thing everything was sublime .

We love the character of the property, the modern facilities whilst maintaining the heritage. The location is awesome and with the Commodore down the hill, getting breakfast was super easy!

We stayed in the Hay suite and the windows didn’t open to allow a breeze through, it also felt like the aircon/fan didn’t do a whole lot.
