The location is terrific! The resort is nestled on a beautiful lake in a gorgeous forest. The beach on the lake is perfect for watersports or simply relaxing and tanning. The access to other activities is also nice. The staff are helpful and pleasant, especially in the restaurant.

The rooms are quite dated; they not only need better maintenance but probably a serious renovation. The food at the restaurant varies from bad to decent; it is unfortunate, because the staff are really friendly and helpful, but an improved menu would make dining (as well as the overall stay) a more pleasant experience.

Healthy hearty breakfast, excellent coffee and fresh fruit. Very agreeable staff all over, they went out of their way to accommodate requests. Serene and wood like property, large enough for privacy spots, lake front , beach, paths, fire pit, patios and relaxation. Onsite restaurant with large variety for all tastes. Close to Port Carling, boutique shopping and icecream stop, museum and parks.

Noisy and drafty ceiling air conditioning in main building. Need more vegan breakfast options, hummus, spreads and plant based yoghurt, cheese.

Only one kayak - one had drifted away a week prior. It should have been replaced more quickly and I think there should be more than two to begin with. Many people were asking about them. Rooms need more hooks and shelves in the bathroom to put toiletries, hang wet towels and robes etc. Staff should have advised us to book reservations for dinner when we checked in, and should have told us when breakfast is served, where various amenities could be found. They were very nice but none of those things happened. The Inn is starting to look a bit shabby and needs updates but it still has rustic charm.

It was my fourth Christmas there, and I am not regret that. I like the environment, staff and the location.

I am not complaining, but I think someone should fix some things like the hook to keep the toilet in the bathroom door broken, the bench in front of the bed was in the bad conditions, the bathroom floor was grimy and cracked. Maybe something activities during the winter time should be great. Another suggestion to improve the breakfast. $24.00 should have been offered more options or give us the option to order an a la cart breakfast like fried eggs, natural juce, cheese. Again, I am not complaining about this, but next time I will probably skip breakfast.

We arrived late at night and left in mid-morning, so not a long time to enjoy it. Beds were comfy, good balcony, great large bathroom. Seems great to walk through the property, but we only had time for a short walk. Very quiet, great to sleep.

It would be convenient to have some beverages in the mini bar, the bedroom was too far from the main building to buy something late at night. The coffee machine seemed good, but when we brewed one coffee, the taste was terrible (not sure if the coffee itself or the water used).

Staff were excellent. Restaurant was really good. Setting was beautiful with lots to see and do. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Aircon and balcony were great.

Third story room but no elevator. Shower was tiny and room quite dated. Housekeeping struggled a little to replace things. Remember your mosquito spray for outside.

Breakfast was excellent. Beach was excellent.

Place was supposed to be smoke free. We could smell cigaret smell from another room. Also our room smelled like previous guests were smoking in room. We were told that pets were not allowed which is not true. We saw a dog in a guest room.

The location was breath taking, vintage Muskoka. Port Carlng is a beautiful little town on Lake Joseph. Our stay at the Sherwood was very therapeutic, just what the doctor ordered! And dinner Friday night was exceptional!

Minor complaint, the shower stall was too small.

I love the location of this place. You can catch the sunset and sunrise. There’s a private beach and lots of free activities like paddle-boarding, kayaking, canoeing, and tennis courts. The staff were very friendly, especially at the front desk.

The bed isn’t very comfortable.

This was my fifth trip to Sherwood and once again exceeded all expectations! The staff is incredible, the property is 10x more beautiful than in any picture, and the rooms are cozy with amazing bath tubs and fire places! I love this place and will be back as soon as possible!

Sherwood Inn is perfect
