It was a lovely country location with extensive well kept gardens with a lovely outdoor pool. We stayed in the cheapest rooms which were great for our stay and on the ground level. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
We thought there was a restaurant open in the grounds but this appears not to be the case. I am not sure if there is a change in ownership or change of ideas regarding the restaurant. There was suppose to be to be coffee shop there as well but I don't think this was open when we tried to find it. Maybe clearer explanation of what is open during your stay would be good. I imagine people often use it as a weekend retreat due to the location and grounds and not being able to eat there is a real downside. We had to drive about `0mins to a local pub for a meal which I have to say was nice but it would have been good to stay on site.

The grounds are exceptional. We very much enjoyed our early morning stroll around the beautiful gardens. Being down a road away from the motorway makes for a tranquil spot with nice views. The room is well appointed with lovely furniture which makes you feel welcome and at home. We were pleasantly surprised when we opened the doors a large chest cupboard to find that in addition to a kettle and fridge, that both a microwave and toaster were also supplied as well as two crockery and cutlery sets. Bathroom is spacious and has a long ledge above the sink, handy for placing out toiletries etc. Reception isn't staffed on weekends, however this was overcome well by good communication by staff ahead of arrival.
A little tatty in places and carpet appeared in need of a good clean . Room lighting a bit dull, including bathroom where one downlight wasn't working. Would have liked fly wire screens on the windows so that we could open them at night, rather than running the air conditioner.

The room was stunning. View from windows was stunning. Very Hiedelberg school with mist in the valleys to the north. Far enough from civilisation to relax without traffic noise. Hearing birds on waking is luxurious. Loved the luxury feel of the room & the bathroom. Grounds are gorgeous & well maintained.
Room had leaked & there was a waterstain down the inside of the exterior wall. A crying baby could be heard, so maybe the soundproofing of walls needs to be addressed.

The room was clean and tidy. The bathroom and shower were quite large. Larger than we expected, and we liked the cupboard which held and hid the coffee/tea making facilities.
The exhaust fan in the bathroom was not operating. The freezer section of the mini fridge needed defrosting. TV could have been on a swivel base, as the small table within the room was tucked in a corner to the side of the TV. This did not allow you to view the TV easily (not a big issue).

Fantastic history, atmosphere, views, and staff were extraordinarily caring. There was a glitch with our booking and they fixed it up no problem at all. Great room in Bougainvillia House and delicious breakfast and coffee at the Sugarmill! Also highly recommend the Sundowner Saloon 5 mins away for a good pub feed. We were here in winter and it was lovely and warm in the room without any heat on. If you want a gorgeous authentic Australian stay, this is it!
That our trip had to end!

We were there for a family function. The restaurant was devoted to said function and the food was superb if a little pricey. Drinks were also not cheap but service was excellent. The room was very comfortable with plenty of room. Excellent bathroom which appeared to be recently renovated.
Not much. A few signs that a bit of maintenance is needed including a set of shutters in our room that were broken. Unfortunately, this was on the eastern side which meant we had sunshine blazing into the room at just before 5am. Still the bed was very comfy.

The manageable was lovely & because there was no availability to stay 2 nights we missed evening meal & breakfast. She gave a quick tour thru the mansion which great as I’m a history buff & have our own 1853 2 storey stone bnb. So Thankyou. So good the Coopers had the sight to restore the mansion and it will be even better once the groundsmen catch up with the gardens. A vision for sure. Good luck 🤞

The room was spacious and tastefully decorated to fit in with the historical ambience of the property, the bathroom was large with a double sized shower, and it was nice to see a toaster and microwave provided as well as the tea/coffee making facilities. Also the fridge was bigger than usual. The Sugarmill Restaurant was beautifully restored and our dinner there was exceptional - beautifully cooked and presented food, great service (attentive, friendly and quick. Similarly, we loved Tommy Smith Cafe for brekkie and lunch - lovely fresh aqnd well presented food. The 25 metre pool was an addiional bonus and the tennis court well maintained. The grounds were superb and the views lovely. A special word of praise the the manager - lovely lady, friendly and helpful. She obviously takes a lot of pride in managing Woodlands.

The set out was lovely, the grounds were beautiful. The pool area was huge and the pool was clean. The different trees there were fantastic.
The outdoor furniture desperately needs an overhaul. No where to sit outside for a drink as the benches were old and broken. (No glass allowed in the pool area, which is fine).

What’s not to love? Historical old buildings, beautiful scenery and still had lovely gardens. I’ve always wanted to stay and I’m so glad that I did.
The fact that it is shutting down is just so sad. I hope to see this heritage listed property fully restored to her former glory.
