We enjoyed our stay! Even with loadshedding we were covered as they have a generator running. The breakfast was delicious every morning and more than enough to eat with great coffee. The fact that you can order room service makes life easy with 4 kids around. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

The games room was really a let down. We have 4 kids and most of the machine games were either broken or blocked with coins. The air hockey as advertised wasn't there and the rest of the games could use an upgrade. The squash courts weren't open and the tennis court needs work. One cannot come near the volleyball as the foul smell just isn't great. The playing area also needs attention!!! An indoor swimming pool would also be a great asset to you. As we are traveling with 4 kids, these are the types of things that make or break a holiday for us as we do not want to go out everyday.

We booked as a family of 5 expecting to be next door/near/close to each other. We were separated on opposite sides of the property. I was not happy. No air conditioners in the rooms. There were fans in both rooms but were very noisy and had to switch off at night. No smoke room (unit 21) .cigarette smoke filtered into the family room from unit next door at night. Had to close the windows which made the room very hot. Was not happy as young children were sleeping in this unit. Internet in unit 167 was very weak. I had to use my own data. Not sure how to answer a survey question....did the property meet your expectations? Had good and bad experiences

Not only is this place very special to my family, but it is also an incredible hotel. From the history to the wonderful staff, I couldn't recommend it more. Loved chilling by the pool and playing some putt putt. Great views, clean and homely rooms, and all-around fantastic service. I'd give this place 100/10 if I could. I also had a bit of an issue with one of our vehicles getting a bad puncture, and they were very accommodating with us leaving the vehicle overnight so I could get it sorted as it was a Sunday.

The room was spacious and well set out.Best shower we ever had.The breakfast was just out of this world,good variety and value for money.The friendliest staff around always greeting with a smile and Always Eager to assist.

The weather wasn't good for the weekend,games room could be upgraded abit to keep the kids occupied more.When the booking was made the website showed an indoor pool,kids were excited but just to have there bubble burst as it was only for the use of Spa Guests and no children allowed.Beds were very uncomfortable and hard.Houw Hoek Hotel should consider building an indoor pool for the winter months.Had lots of trouble with the satellite TV connection,froze alot and couldn't watch a lot of channels.

we liked the fact that there was quite a bit to do for our 9 year old child. she was never bored, and she could walk the premises freely without us feeling anxious. it is safe and child friendly. the food at the restaurant was great...I loved the spa with superb service and sooo relaxing. very neat and clean and very professional service. for a quick breakaway great value for money...

there was nothing we did not like..we could relax had room service and swam...everything was clean and that was sufficient...

Our unit was perfect for a family of 4. The breakfast included was great! Staff went out of their way to make our stay very comfortable and pleasant. Even organised a breakfast pack as we needed to be out early for a race (before the breakfast buffet opened) and so they delivered a delicious cold breakfast pack the night before. Everyone was very friendly and went the extra mile.

The units are a bit dated, they could use a little more maintenance \ update but everything was clean and comfy so it wasn't a major issue.

I love the place and staff were friendly. My husband and I enjoyed the breakfast on the 1st morning, perfectly fried bacon and egg, especially the freshly baked croissants 😋 with the strawberry jam. The 2nd morning the bacon was overcooked and so was the eggs.

I didn't like the fact that I had in my search for two people and one room as I do for all these years of using booking.com. when I asked to move rooms due to the noise I was told I only paid for one person so that was clearly a glitch from the site. The lady argued that I paid for one and I argued otherwise. Also they can upgrade their tennis court.

The breakfast had a variety of halaal foods which was excellent Room service was great as our food was delivered warm

The only thing that we would love Houw Hoek to implement is to put water taps at the toilets ( Iestienjaa taps ) Houw Hoek gets a lot of muslim visitors this would be excellent as most hotels have implemented this for their visitors, please note it is not only muslims that use it a lot of the public use it for hygiene purposes.

I am a regular patron of Houw Hoek; we try to get there at least once every year. The rooms are clean and equipped with what we need; breakfast is always a pleasure, and dinner was good. We enjoyed the Spa treatment as well.

Although some of the rooms are new, the older rooms/family suites have pretty much stayed the same over the years, and yet the pricing has gone up quite a bit year on year. Maybe more activities for the kids, especially over the Christmas period.

Unique hotel set in a beautiful location with opportunity to walk in the mountains. We came for the dinner dance which is held a distance away from the rooms and provides ample room to dance in.

The dinner dance was held in a massive room on two levels with very dangerous, uneven steps. To reach the buffet or bar, one had to navigate these steps each time. The choice of music was great, but simply too loud!
