We thought the staff were friendly and helpful, our room was comfortable and the building itself full of history. The location is excellent. We will stay again as overall the Cathedral Quarter Hotel provides a good deal for the things we enjoy doing when in Derby.
The choice on the continental breakfast wasn't very big nor what was there exciting, and if you didn't have the full English or one of the other cooked options, which we didn't, as we're vegetarian, it felt insubstantial. That was the most disappointing thing about our stay. Fruit would be good, a bigger choice of cereals, fresh bread and non-dairy 'milks' would be welcome.

The bed was comfy and room quiet. The staff were excellent, couldn’t do enough for you. A special shout out to Yana on reception who made me feel welcome. The location was fantastic, 2 min walk to Derby town centre. The room was cleaned to a superb standard everyday with tea, water and shower items replaced.
The property is tired in a few areas such as loose fittings and the odd scratch or crack in the wall. There was also randomly a gym equipment item at the bottom of the staircase. The bar and restaurant opening times were unclear with no signage. With a spruce up and clearer posting this hotel could be a true gem but I’d certainly recommend staying here was great value for money.

The staff were very welcoming from the moment we arrived at the hotel. Although we were slightly early for check in they kept our bags safe for us so we could go and explore the city and have a bit of retail therapy. When we got back we were given our key and shown to our room which was very spacious and had so many facilities such as a smart TV and coffee machine. The room and bed were so comfy and clean we felt right at home. The check out the next day was so easy and stress free. Massive thank you to the staff at the hotel for making our stay so pleasant and we will definitely be back soon.

The property is amazing, full of history & such a beautiful building
Lots of renovations were going on in the hotel which wasn’t great, big dust sheets everywhere & even had 2 pots of paint in our room & a freshly painted part of the wall when we got in!! The receptionist was very apologetic & did say we cud change rooms which we perhaps shud have as on returning on our second day we just about got in to our room as we had to squeeze past scaffolds & dust sheets plus there was a lot of workmen on site & they left dusters & paint pots all over ie on the stairs etc & lots of banging & noise Think the hotel shud have remained closed at this time until all work was completed as this did spoil our stay somewhat as it will be a stunning hotel when finished

We normally stay in a hotel chain when visiting Derby but decided to give this hotel a try, which we are glad we did. It is beautiful, and we prefer older style buildings with character, so the feedback about it being dated wasn't an issue. The room was a good size, and the bed was comfortable. I needed a bath, so I was pleased to have one at the end of a long day. The location is fantastic for Derby city centre and the hotel is value for money, half the price of what we'd normally stay. The room was spotless, I'm sorry I forgot to leave a tip for housekeeping, but I will do when we visit again.

The room was clean and quiet and the bed was very comfortable. Big TV screen too! We ate at the hotel and had a very good steak deal - food delicious and it included a good bottle of wine. Very central to the historic parts of Derby which were an easy walk away.
Fortunately we managed to nab one of the only five parking spaces in front of the hotel, otherwise we would have had to walk a way to a public car park. I know parking is difficult in city centres but travelling by car means it is pretty important.

This hotel hadn't been on booking.com for very long, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Very happy with my stay. Greeted by friendly staff. Room was comfortable and well appointed. The building itself has an interesting history, so worth asking about it. I'll be staying again next time I'm in Derby. Thanks very much
This is a minor issue, but useful to be aware of. I booked through booking.com because the hotel was listed as having parking. In fact it does not as I only found out once I'd booked (it was one of the reasons I booked this hotel). HOWEVER, I found cheap on-street parking via theparkingspace right opposite the hotel, so don't be put off booking. I enjoyed my overnight stay there

Absolutely gorgeous building. The team working here were friendly and approachable. Couldn't fault them at all. Didn't drink here but had breakfast which was decent and included in the price of the room. Lovely big bath towels provided. Seemed to be really good soundproofing. We were staying on the same floor as where a wedding was being held and when the door was closed, didn't really hear much noise at all. Would love to stay again
Room was on the small side but it was comfortable. The curtains are really thick and heavy which keeps the morning sun out if you don't want to be woken up too early but take up a bit of room being bulky plus they were difficult to open and let light in when we wanted it. Not a massive issue though

Great location, stunning building, staff were really helpful.
Just a couple of things that could be quick fixes for them to improve the overall standard - curtain needs some more hooks on the curtain rail so it closes properly. Put netting outside of windows so pigeons don’t start cooing on your windowsill at 6am! Tv aerial wire should be hooked along wall and into rear of tv, rather than literally blocking off the corner of your room! When booking should know if hotel bar wouldn’t be open: we chose this hotel due to having a bar as we had a disabled member of the party who would be more comfortable drinking back at the hotel after our meal out- when we got back at 9.45pm the bar was shut due to an event at the hotel which was disappointing.

Great venue and location. Room was very comfortable and clean. Comfortable bed and really good facilities for the money we paid. Breakfast was really good even if they mucked up our order. The staff were very pleasant and very helpful.
Theres was some confusion over our room where they claimed we had booked room only, but our booking did include breakfast. This was sorted and eventually they agreed to honour the booking with breakfast. A few in our party had to change their rooms where they hadn't been cleaned.and one room wasn't up to standard. But other people in our party were very happy with their rooms and facilities. So the two rooms that weren't cleaned were probably down to a blip in their operation s. We got the impression they are news and there are some teathing problems.
