The room and the general environment was great. The main road is noisy due to proximity, but only really noticable if you are at the front of the property, which is really only the main parking area and smoking/outdoor seating. The accommodation is behind the pub, across a small and untrafficed lane so well away from any noice.
Overall I found the food, whilst above average, didn't really live up to the rest of the experience. I couldn't help but come away with the feeling that it was overpriced, especially considering they automatically add 12% service which whilst discretionary, I don't think is valid for paying guests (though perhaps for casual diners). There wasn't anything wrong with the FOH service, I just didn't think it justified a mandatory extra service charge when the place was generally quiet, especially as a single diner.

The room looked fantastic, the high beams make a lasting impression. Staff were friendly, but the whole experience just felt a bit underwhelming
I visited during winter so I wanted to spend quite a bit of time in the room after walks. No one seemed to know how to operate the hi-tec heating app connected to the room/radiators and the bathroom. It took ages to feel warm in the room due to the height of the ceiling. It is VERY high, and I guess in the summer, it can be very useful.. The tv in the room is too small for the room, and for anyone wanting to stay in the room, which I appreciate will be minority, will find it disappointing. 22-24"..

The staff were happy and helpful. I couldn't have asked for more. The breakfast was spot on, just what I wanted, fast service and well presented.
No fridge in the room. They had them when I visited in the past. Long life milk was provide and when I asked, I was given fresh milk in a little flask. However, this didn't stay fresh for long and so this was the only blight on my stay. I also mention that a full length mirror would be a welcome addition. Some rooms had them, but not the one I stayed in.

We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The room was beautiful. We could park really close to where our room was (which was level access), very much appreciated as I am presently on crutches. The pub was warm and inviting, all the staff were polite and courteous. Everything was clean and it was the relaxed and romantic weekend we were after, celebrating 20 year anniversary. We would definitely recommend people come to stay.
A couple of things. All the food was delicious (and this is just personal taste), I had the fish pie which was lovely but for me too many peas in it, felt like pea pie. Lol. Also, and again this may be normal for the pubs in the area, we felt the drinks were a little pricey. But all in all a wonderful stay, just what the doctor ordered for a total de-stress.

Halfway bridge looked good from the reviews we read, and if anything exceeded our expectation. The rooms are in a refurbished stables set away from the pub and well away from the road. Rooms were very comfortable and well equipped, with simple extra touches without being over pretentious. Pub was lovely with excellent choice and quality of simple tasty food. We ate dinner there every night, there was no reason to try anywhere else. They have a back patio surrounded by lovingly tended plants, Perfect for dinner on a summer evening . The staff were all lovely too, working in a really relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Really appreciated they found us somewhere safe and convenient to lock away our bikes every night. Fantastic value for money, wonderful 3 night stay.
We liked everything

Nice cabins in a quiet situation behind the inn. The bed was large and comfortable, and the rooms were serviced every day. The breakfast was taken in the inn each morning, It was cooked to order and served by a very competent member of staff.
I had specifically booked 'The Halfway Bridge Inn' because the cabins were on the ground floor and could be accessed easily. Unfortunately, many of the pathways around the inn were very uneven and difficult for me to walk on to access our cabin. I also very much missed any grab bars in the bathroom to assist me in climbing into the bath to take a shower.

Room/bathroom and towels all very clean. The room setting was lovely. I was going to a wedding at Cowdray walled garden and it was a good location to this. Food overall was good.
The lane to the rooms could have been better lit. Not great for those not so sure of foot or lady alone. Breakfast was overal OK. I believe cooked fresh as it took ages to come on day one. Toast was rock hard so not sure if stale bread or just the type of bread. On day two I went for the healthy option but the fresh berries indicated on the menue were not available. The granola and yogurt were in a box and pot I could have purchased at home so not such good value.

The care taken to get us checked in was amazing, as we were arriving late at night after a nearby wedding. The Inn was absolutely stunning, with huge rooms and very comfortable beds.
The location is hard to reach if you aren't driving or willing to pay for a very pricey local taxi. It was also a shame that the vegetarian English breakfast was just the normal breakfast with all meat removed, therefore it's smaller and less filling. It would have been fab to have some veggie sausages available.

Nice location with lots of nearby walks. Bar area nice with open fire. Breakfast staff very friendly. Room area sunny, quiet and lots of birds around! Bed was very comfy and good shower.
Not a particularly warm welcome at check in. No fridge in room despite this on description. No milk provided! Had to go from the room to the bar to request milk twice. Blinds broken in room. Food was a mixed bag, not the standard we'd expect for the cost. Fish and chips disappointing. Overall did not feel like 5 star experience.

Breakfast was great. The cooked breakfast is huge so be warned. The staff are all really lovely and welcoming. We opted to stay for the evening meal which was wonderful. The rooms are beautifully done out, clean and warm.
The avocado on toast was served with poached egg which I opted not to have and so it was served deconstructed :-) ie sliced avocado next to a slice of dry toast and the grilled tomato. I've had better but honestly it was the only minor thing of note in an otherwise fabulous stay.
