Absolutely superb stay. Fantastic room with great facilities and loved the fact it opened out into the courtyard. Very comfy superking bed. Excellent bathroom with lovely overhead shower. The whole place was kept spotlessly clean and had clearly been recently decorated. All staff were super friendly, helpful, professional and couldn't do enough for you. Always a bonus to get on-site parking. Food was amazing starting with breakfast - do recommend the "full English", certainly keeps you going for the day. Evening meals were also of great quality and the range of ales on offer was also a bonus. Location was ideal - just a five minute walk to centre of town although it is a fairly steep climb.

Room 2, King Lovely small bathroom with a heated floor but rather cramped. The room despite being described as a King size was also small. Rather gloomy with only one window and being on the ground floor it allowed passers by to look in meaning the blind had to be closed. We ate in the pub bar rather than the restaurant. Food was good pub standard. Same for breakfast. Parking is at the rear of the pub down a lane. Bikers beware…it has a loose gravel surface. We found some tarmac at the entrance to park on..

Nothing that would prevent us from staying there again.

Good fantastic, staff amazing, room lovely except too hot and not able to control heating therefore very uncomfortable, lovely location, nice outdoor spaces, wouldn’t like to stay in height of summer as all garden seating directly outside bedroom door, re possible noise otherwise no issues. Tiles in bathroom could do with a little revamp around bath. Bed very comfy, extra sofa bed useful, lively bath and endless hot water, very hot bathroom difficult to control. Yoh had to me an engineer to work out the heating thermostat as it really didn’t work. Otherwise despite the very minor downsides it was truly lovely! Best belly pork in living memory

Communication with establishment prior to arrival was poor. There was a problem with the booking and I needed to speak to a member of staff. They frequently failed to answer the phone, did not call back when they said they would, did not reply to e-mails or voicemails. Understandably I arrived with trepidation, but my experience when I arrived was exceptional and did not reflect what I had experienced prior to arrival. I would certainly return.

The location of the pub was amazing. Tetbury is a beautiful village, and there was a lovely walk immediately outside. We had an evening meal, and all 9 of us enjoyed our meals. One said the chicken burger was the best they had ever had. The bedroom was very large and comfortable, a little dark but it's a very old building, so that was expected.

The only downside was the room was in the beer garden courtyard, which was a little noisy one afternoon.

Good location 5 min walk up into town. Our evening meal was a triumph of both presentation & taste.

A couple of things put a dampener on our stay. One was the service charge automatically added to our evening meal bill, which I was told was shared between the staff. I originally asked for it to be removed and was asked if I wasn't happy with the service, I was. I relented and asked for it to be reinstated. The other issue was a leaking shower and the surround, and a lack of a wardrobe. Other than those issues, we lived it.

We had a lovely stay at The Royal Oak. We had to make a couple of changes to our booking the day before our stay, which was sorted straight away for us. All staff were friendly and efficient. Especially Jude, and a young lad who checked us in, (sorry I didn’t get his name). Both of these are a credit to the pub. Nice evening meal, and a lovely cooked breakfast with quality ingredients.

The bed could have been a little softer, but that’s just our preference.

There was no bath mat available for when standing in the bath to use shower The heated towel rail was very good but it is dangerously close to the wash basin which my wife inadvertently touched several times There is no warning signs in the bathroom There was no electric socket on the one side of the bed for phone charging

The breakfast was very good.

My only criticism of the whole place was the lighting on the stairs. We stayed in the lovely duplex room with the bed up some stairs. It was gorgeous but the lighting on the stairs coming down made everyone nervous. It was either dark when they were off or too bright and you couldn't see the steps when it was on. Maybe just less bright bulbs? Other than that it was lovely

Breakfast was excellent. I was unexpectedly delayed and a staffer stayed up to let me into my room at 12:30 a.m. Another staffer drove me to the Highgrove gardens when it became evident that there would be no taxi service that day. I was also driven to the Kemble train station when my trip was finished. I was very grateful for all these extras. It had not occurred to me that I would not be able to take a taxi or bus--Tetbury is tiny. The Royal Oak is located a 5-minute walk from the little town.
