All the staff were fabulous and friendly. Even small requests for things like extra milk in the room was provided generously. The room (pine-51) was spacious, had a mini fridge (useful to keep milk cool) and had a terrace out the back for when the weather is good. The bed was super comfy with a large warm duvet. Although we didn't use them, we noted that blackout blinds were fitted in addition to the main curtains. The bathroom was provided with plush towels and quality cosmetics. Easy to use shower. TV and wi-fi worked perfectly during our stay. The breakfast room is large, really nice period setting and comfortable. I'm one for the full English, this is really done well. I know it's not much, but the coffee comes with warm milk and this is rare and much appreciated. There is an outer sitting room next to the breakfast room and newspapers are provided. It was nice to just sit and read a paper after breakfast (a rarity as we stopped buying newspapers years ago). We booked a meal in the bar area on the first night and enjoyed the experience. For anyone visiting Highgrove this is the perfect location. Finally, we would like to thank every member of staff who made our stay outstanding, including all those hidden in the background that we didn't meet but made a difference like the room cleaner and the kitchen staff.

Leaving.

initial check in fine dinner venue & ambience very enjoyable price a little on the high side my wife's eggs benedict breakfast was too cold to enjoy or rate, my cooked breakfast was fine. room well appointed suggest biscuits

shame my wife's breakfast was not warm when presented as we had enjoyed dinner portions on some items a little tight ie children small glass for orange juice tiny hash brown scoring small own goals for cost control when the building & the location is very good much more positives than negatives overall

A lovely Cotswolds hotel with enthusiastic, helpful staff. Our room in an outbuilding was compact but pleasant, with an enormous 'super-king' bed, even though it was sold as just a double. The hotel has a pleasant bar and a seperate restaurant. While our evening meal was disappointing, the breakfast was excellent. Overall, I thought this stay was excellent value for money and would highly recommend it on that basis.

We were a little cold and had no control over the room heating, which was off despite it getting down to 9 deg outside. They did say that if we had rung reception, they could have turned it on. Fair enough. Our evening meal was very disappointing, bearing in mind that it's a 2 rosette restaurant with a great-sounding menu. The 'prawn and lobster cocktail' had just two shavings of lobster but perhaps that was to be expected. The 'rack of lamb' main was two little trimmed lamb chops with some frozen peas plus a few broad beans. No rack at all, a shame when your favourite meal is herb-crusted rack of lamb!

Around 30 guests stayed at the hotel the night before and the night of our daughter's wedding (at Westonbirt House, which was absolutely stunning!). The Hare and Hounds put on a pre wedding dinner for 23 of us in the private dining room, the service was excellent and the food enjoyed by everyone. The hotel made sure we were well looked after as we prepared for the wedding and made a larger room available for us early for the bride to dress in. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. We had a superior room in one for the annex buildings. Very comfortable and nicely decorated. Would definitely recommend the hotel.

Pleasant friendly staff and good food and lovely facilities. Very convenient for visiting Highgrove.

We were surprised that our bed was not made each day. Due to the heat we had requested a sheet instead of the duvet which was immediately provided and we put this on ourselves. So it may be that the staff didn't know how to make the bed with just a sheet on. But in a four star hotel we would expect pillows to be plumped, beds made and cushions put back to make the room as we found it. We are tidy people so had not left the room untidy and there was no reason why the bed should be left unmade. We still enjoyed our stay but a little more attention by room staff would have made it feel more luxurious.

The main hotel building was full of charm & character, the food both in the pub area & the dining room was excellent as was the breakfasts. Our superior room was not in the main hotel building but it was spacious & comfortable.

Our only criticism would be the en-suite bathroom which was very tired & needed attention; There was a broken tile in the shower, a fine crack in the basin & it generally needed redecorating. On arrival we noticed the shower door was off its runner but the hotel staff responded quickly to repair it.

Fantastic team of hard working, helpful, flexible people who did everything they could to help with whatever we needed. Hotel building and grounds are really lovely. Nice spaces to drink and eat. Superior rooms are spacious.

The photos on the website don't necessarily reflect the quality of room you get, one of our rooms was tired looking and lacked the presentation shown in the photos. The food and drink prices were very overpriced compared to the quality which is a shame. The road noise is noticeable but if you get a room to the rear then you should avoid the worst of it.

A lovely spacious room, good bathroom with top class toiletries. Excellent wi-fi, good bar and very good restaurant. The best aspect of the stay was the staff. Every single one was polite, pleasant, attentive and efficient. Whoever trained them has done an excellent job. I only wish every hotel had staff like this.

Nothing to do with the hotel, but we made use of the onsite EV charger. It is a PodPoint and we were required to download the app, follow a time-consuming registration process which timed-out. The whole business took 25 minutes to set up. We could have been sitting in the sunshine with a drink

It was the most spacious room I have ever experienced - on the ground floor in its own little annexe, which meant we were less likely to be disturbed by any events at the hotel. This afforded a safe space for me and my dog and sufficient comfort for me to spend an afternoon reading. The grounds were sufficiently spacious for gentle dog strolls at either end of the day yet gave direct access to more extensive country walks so that I could avoid driving. I enjoyed the opportunity to keep my dog with me for meals in the bar and for breakfast in a clearly defined area in the hotel, where he was treated to a carefully prepared sausage in a dog bowl. The staff genuinely enjoyed welcoming dogs and every guest. I also appreciated the care taken over the plantbased dishes - yes, only one option for breakfast and one on the bar menu, but both were imaginative, balanced, and delicious. Teas and coffees in the apartment were the same high quality as those served in the restaurant. When staff said, 'If there's anything you need, just ask', it felt genuine: we needed nothing, but would have felt comfortable asking.

Nothing. I guess anyone allergic to or very frightened of dogs might feel uncomfortable, but I thought the dog policy was sensible, and sufficient care had been taken to ensure separate areas.

Breakfast was excellent. Staff were very welcoming, helpful and gave very good service. Appreciated the coffee making facilities in the room.

We were given an upgraded room (which always makes me suspicious) and sure enough it was the oak room which looked onto the entrance to a wedding event. So there was some noise and disturbance outside our room. I have to say this was not too bad but it does make me wonder (cynically) about the 'value' of upgrades and what thinking goes on behind these. The bathroom floor of the oak room could have been cleaner (corners, and behind pipes). Needs attention beyond the normal daily clean. Sink design meant that got splashed every time turned on tap. Drinks very expensive.
